  1. Bro why did you pull a 12 year old tweet from when Twitter was more innocent and people tweeted things like this. Once upon a time I posted on here that there was no way the Tatis trade would be that bad because how often do lotto tickets like that hit? Also James Shields would mentor Gio. Absolute crackpot s%*#, but it doesn't really have much bearing on my current view of the Sox; back then I was an eternal optimist, now I'm a lot more bitter outside of Pope Leo memes.

I'll give Getz this: His coup will never, ever match Hawk's.
  3. Orestes Minoso Jr. wanted his dad to get in the hall so badly. I tried calling him when it got announced. During the ceremony they said he passed away from ALS and my heart absolutely shattered.
  4. Shoeless Joe I'm happy for and I think he gets in. Pete Rose, fine. Gross human, great player.

Had so much hope for him to build off of 2011. The first casualty of the Crede void.
  6. It really doesn't help that reporters like Windhorst and Vorkunov are like "the vibe was off." https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6351525/2025/05/13/nba-draft-lottery-mavericks-nico-harrison-cooper-flagg/?source=user_shared_article

For real though, the players cited don't even sniff the hype of the previous rebuild, so saying that there's an old saying, it's gonna elicit backlash. The pitchers need to out perform Gio-Cease-Lynn-Rodon-ReyLo-Hendriks-Kopech(bullpen)-Crochet(bullpen) Braden needs to outperform Robert when he was at his peak. I guess Sammy Zavala can still try. Vargas has to prove he can be a league average hitter before he can beat out 2019 or 2021 Moncada. Elko has to top Abreu. Baldwin has to show he's at least Leury level. Either catcher has to top 2020-2021 Grandal. I think Quero or Teel (who I very, very much wanted in the draft) can do this, but still, wait and see. TA was a hitting champ and now we're waiting on ... Bonemer? Vaughn was actually competent for a few seasons before backsliding hard. Meidroth has a low bar to clear, since second was a super massive black hole. Rookie Eloy was an absolute masher. Burger's rise was the feel good story. I forgot Thorpe and Iriarte in my list of "recent guys who had hype and we've now forgotten about" because they're so uninspiring and just now deal with injuries. I'd love for it to happen. The current GM was part of the reason the prior rebuild failed, so now suddenly he's gonna steer this one to nirvana? The old saying is fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
  8. I do think the Professional Women's Hockey League has it figured out: Once a team is mathematically eliminated, they improve their draft standing by winning games. The play-in teams wouldn't be able to jump teams that need picks, but teams that were shamelessly tanking like the 76ers and Raptors have to actually try once they're eliminated.
  9. Fwiw, my opinion is not aided by the fact that the firm overseeing the process, Ernst & Young, was fined by the SEC for cheating audits.
  10. It was draft night? Wild. I thought he was the one that said he'd be on the All-Decade team for the 2010s, but even Jeter and (less shockingly) Stone were super high on Beckham after his rookie year. Him falling apart hurt.
  11. What most people feel: Rewarding them for giving Lakers a mega star. How I feel: Nico obliterated an entire fan base in a large market. This undoes that. I have friends that are Mavs friends that were basically on the ropes and now they're energized again.

  13. The fun thing about Harold Reynolds is that you can never tell if he's exaggerating. I hope Braden ends his season launching bombs at Charlotte to then get ready for next year. That would be crazy impressive enough for me.
  14. That being said, it would be objectively funny if both teams broke last season's record.

Man, I joined this board 16 years ago looking for a place to talk about Sox prospects. I love rooting for them to succeed. The last rebuild - and even guys from the current rebuild like Colson Montgomery - should be a giant flashing red light. Colson was the anointed one as late as last spring. And let's face it, unless you're going back in time and re-writing history, the industry was way, way, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay higher on the previous rebuild than it was on this one.
  16. Mavs this year, won against the Kings during the stacked year. The win gave the Kings the numbers to get #2 in the draft. Bulls would have taken Luka. Also forgot to mention Ayton was another "man this is fishy" when you start adding them all up.
  17. I mean, I hate to be that guy, but it's hard to say it isn't rigged some years at this point, at least when there's mega prospects. LeBron enters draft, goes to hometown team as a savior. Rose enters draft, goes to hometown team with 1.7% odds. LeBron leaves Cleveland, they get the #1 pick 3/4 years, netting them Kyrie and the ability to trade for Love. Chris Paul traded from New Orleans, bam, AD. AD traded from New Orleans, bam, Zion. Wemby becomes the next defensive stalwart big man to learn under Pop. Luka traded to Los Angeles, Nico's idiotic move nets them Flagg. NBA is in LOVE with these narratives.
  18. Actually, Bulls won that flip. They were enamored with Luka. Dallas winning is the one scenario that I actually actively dislike.
