  1. SNELL AND MEADOWS My friend's three legged disco cat told me.
  2. There's basically no universe where Vaughn goes to the Cubs.
  3. Alright — everyone can stop taking shots at one another and resume discussing Joc Pederson if we'd like to continue this thread.
  4. Since I'm the one who said it... 1) Philly isn't signing big free agents this winter, or next year in all likelihood. All these asinine Grandal trades have us going for Realmuto or signing a big free agent this winter. 2) The Phillies are bleeding money and going nowhere. Grandal just helped lead the Sox to the postseason for the first time in over a decade by being roughly what was expected. The reward? Jettisoning him. 3) The situations aren't in a vacuum and the Sox would show that they're going to jettison guys for no other reason than a bunch of fans getting upset over a shortened season. You might as well let Ron trade Abreu.
  5. While I wouldn't trade the big chips for them, hypothetical scenario: If the Phillies offered the Sox Harper and Wheeler, but the Sox had to take their entire contracts. In return the Sox didn't have to give up their big chips — Kopech, Vaughn, Crochet, Madrigal, Kelley. Would you do it?
  6. Way to undersell what Plesac did. His actions put the health and lives of his teammates at risk.
  7. Plesac risked his teammates' lives, including Carrasco, who is immunocompromised. Please pick someone different.
  8. I said hesitant, not unwilling. For a guy like Nimmo (pre-Cohen) or in a Snell package? Hell yes. For rentals - I'm a little slower on the trigger. I think pretty much no one outside of Enos Sarris had seriously used Vaughn as trade bait. Kopech and Cease both have high ceilings, but are now in a condensed timeline. Cease is hopefully given second life with Katz. Kopech hopefully is still the same after surgery and an additional season off. They've really only been floated for other starting pitchers, in which case you're seeing the other one and Dunning take the last two spots in the rotation. There are only two open starting spots (assuming they add to the rotation), so you need to have one of Kopech, Cease, or Dunning in the bullpen, Charlotte, or traded. The diplomatic answer will probably be Kopech in AAA to rebuild strength. Madrigal I'd hold onto, but Mendick allows you to have an open ear on Madrigal's value.
  9. We did the part the Phillies didn't - prospects succeeding. The Sox were the specific example used to differentiate from the Phillies. This is why I'm hesitant whenever someone wants to unload someone like Thompson or Kelley - the Phillies and, much more pertinently, the Cubs show you need that second wave badly.
  10. Except if you trade Grandal after one (pandemic shortened) season where he was still a net positive, no big free agents are going to sign here.
  11. To quote a wise man... Also, he signed there under the auspices that the Phillies would be competing. With their budget in disarray, who knows if that's going to be a thing.
  12. White Sox get: - Zack Wheeler - Blake Snell Phillies get: - Dylan Cease - Nick Madrigal - Zack Collins Tampa Bay gets - Michael Kopech - Mick Abel - Micker Adolfo/Blake Rutherford
  13. You clearly don't know how to get the job in that case.
  14. "In my weekly newsletter to Reinsdorf, I suggested I be the play-by-play. I have a lot of good ideas..."
  15. At this point, the only explanation is that the 2016 Cubs are a monkey's paw.
  16. Since you were commenting on his body, adding these posts from the FutureSox thread: He's slimmed down substantially.
  17. Tbh, with La Russa as manager is expect all two-way usage to be dead on arrival.
  18. Doesn't even include Colas' ??? comment on the Norge Vera joining the Sox IG post. At this point I'm stunned if he doesn't join the Sox.
  19. Apparently Otto posted something on IG and then took it down after backlash. Wonderful.
  20. Hopefully we can all agree to this. Hopefully we can all agree that "preemptive pardons" should also be disallowed. We call that the reverse-Trump.
  21. McConnell is now reverting on this and going with only the failed GOP one.
  22. ...poppy...my man...please re-read this.
