  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 07:35 AM) Eh.. he's a long shot now with his second TJS unfortunately. If we get Burger, Pint and Beer Jace Fry will get called up solely for marketing.
  2. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 05:31 PM) Would people here rather have Pint or Hoffman as a second piece behind Rodgers? Personally, Pint. With the amount of starting prospects on the team, I'd go for the one with the higher ceiling and longer ETA. We do know that the Sox loved Hoffman going into the 2014 Draft, so they may still see something they like.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) I, for one, don't particularly love Tapia. I would much prefer McMahon or even Wall over Tapia. The package I really want from the Rockies is probably Rodgers/McMahon/Wall/intriguing arm. If that arm is Almonte, sign me up! #BringAlmonteHome
  4. Lol at this respect the president schtick. Not after eight years of blatant disrespect of Obama from colonial LARPers and Republicans in Congress. Not for the man that ran a campaign built on xenophobia, Islamophobia, racism, sexism, etc. But to bring it full circle, Greg, you gonna respect Duterte? Afterall, he is the president of the Philippines.
  5. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 12:10 PM) I think there was a generic tweet at some point for Colorado looking for front line pitching, but nothing mentioning Quintana specifically. To be fair, ESPN's SweetSpot blog posted the Rodgers/Tapia/Pint deal in their speculation. http://www.espn.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/...r-jose-quintana
  6. So, the real victor of the 2016 Election was Russia.
  7. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) They said that they want these films to be like the Harry Potter films, with each film representing a year in school for Peter. And no doubt that Marvel/Disney wants Holland and Brie Larson to be the face of the MCU going forward, along with Chris Pratt. I mean they announced the sequel the day after the trailer came out. Maybe they squeeze his senior year out of it, but after that he's out of high school years.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) Would you do Nate Jones for Josh Bell? Yup.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) So this really is rather amazing. We have a foreign intelligence industry successfully intervening in a U.S. Election on behalf of one candidate with the tacit approval of that candidate and other top level officials in his party, including one whose wife is now a cabinet level nominee. At this point, the United States system does not have any way to deal with this. if someone successfully intervenes in the U.S. election using foreign resources, a faulty election still stands because there's no mechanism by which we could do anything about the intervention. This is the worst flaw in the system.
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) If Hahn could pull off Glasnow/Meadows/Bell I would literally s*** myself. That would be a haul! I hope Buster's vision is good. Two Top 10 prospect and another Top 20 feels too good to be true.
  11. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 02:21 PM) It's my favorite potential deal as well. Rodgers is going to be a slam-dunk awesome Major League hitter barring injuries and would look great at 3B for us in a couple years. The Rox are said to be looking for a TOR starter. I'd add Jones to get Rodgers/Tapia/Pint/flier for Q. That'd be arguably better than the Sale deal.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) Saw someone on Twitter saying that Buster Olney said that he could see the Rockies offer Rodgers/Tapia/Pint for Q and the Pirates offer Glasnow/Meadows/Bell or Newman. I'd take either.... Yes. To either.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) Also the reason that I was just out on Civil War. I knew going in Spidey was a teen. But as I watched it (and the horrific almost spoof that was the original "battle" between both sides where they ran at each other) I just got more and more annoyed. Such great source material bastardized and simplified. f*** that. I deserve more with these characters and have better things to do with my time. Eh, Civil War the comic is pretty terrible unless you read like the whole 120 issue event. Spidey's arc was great though. I still say they should have done it after Infinity War when they had more heroes. And we'll never get Back in Black now, which is one of the most underrated Spidey arcs.
  14. Fortunately since the MCU moves in real time, we'll only have high school Peter for one movie. They're gonna try and stretch him into being the next RDJ/face of the MCU for the next decade.
  15. Sox wouldn't get Sanchez, nor do they need him in a deal with the Yankees.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 06:15 PM) How come I was told to cut it out when I was calling her Hilly and Crooked Hilly and we're calling him 'crooked Donnie?' He's the President of the United States, folks. I'd show him some respect or maybe move to Canada. I mean I wouldn't vote for him as is my right to abstain with 2 horrible candidates, but he is my president now. I wasn't crazy about Obama except for his Sox and Chicago fandom but I never showed him disrespect. Let's face it there are inconsistencies on this board which leans Democratic over Republican big time. It actually leans Republican. The reason it seems to lean Democrat is because you go into the Democrat thread, spout your broken record lines without listening to the other posts and then say s*** like "show him respect or move to Canada." You know who he's respecting? The guy carrying out these killings.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 12:10 PM) Oil drilling advocate expected be Trump's pick to head Interior Department: sources Almost finished building his Captain Planet Supervillains team edit: of course she's yet another climate "skeptic" would not be surprised to see a decent amount of our public lands sold off to the highest bidders for resource exploitation. Captain Planet villains aren't even this transparent.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 1h Through the White Sox, @79JoseAbreu, has commented on the acquisition of Yoan Moncada. Abreu: "I am very happy about the White Sox acquisition of Yoan Moncada. I’m proud because I played with him in Cienfuegos... More Abreu: "I was his captain, and now we are going to play together again. He is a very talented player...More Abreu: "and it will be an honor to work with, guide and support him”. One more, Abreu: “(Moncada) is going to make a huge impact in the White Sox organization and both the fans and the team will be thankful” This quote alone makes me think Abreu is staying.
  19. Here's hoping they can turn Diaz into another Frankie Montas, who was similarly ranked when they got him.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) A lot of talk about him a few years ago in the draft threads. Particularly from JoeCoolMan So did I. Wanted him with the pick we used on Jace Fry I believe.
  21. Anderson seems ready to learn and develop his patience at the plate, so we can see what happens next year.
  22. QUOTE (ron883 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 08:17 AM) Did Lester have an issue signing with the rebuilding cubs? For a mega contract, Machado to would come here to be the Lester of our white sox imo. 9 years 270m, possibly frontloaded. Sox will have so much payroll. A lot depends on if Anderson and Rodon take the next step. Giolito, Lopez and Moncada will need to be progressing along nicely and Collins ready to go. Tall order, but if the framework of a contender is there I can see Machado or Harper being interested.
  23. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) If i'm Rick Hahn and I have a legit shot at signing Machado or Harper I am on that 100 times out of 100. Agreed. In 2018, if I'm Hahn and my stockpiled arms are turning into a formidable rotation, Anderson, Moncada and Collins are blossoming and the OF prospects are holding the fort down the oldest core piece would be Rodon at the ripe age of 25. They don't even have to be All-Star caliber yet, but approaching it. Machado and Harper will be 26. I'm pushing like hell to get one of (if not) both of them to push the team over the brink. Assuming the Sox don't dish out big contracts in the next few years, only Rodon's contact situation will be worrisome.
  24. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 01:13 AM) I tend to agree. Let's just assume Hahn was torn between the Red Sox package for Sale, or the Nationals. Maybe one consideration was that if the Astros consider themselves a playoff team, one team they might have to go through is Boston. By sending Sale to Boston, Hahn strengthened a potential Astros opponent. How can the Astros counter? By adding the next best available pitcher to negate some of the that added value. Who owns that pitcher? The same guy who provided Red Sox with the boost in the first place. It's like an arms dealer who is selling guns to both sides of a war. He's biting off both ends. It also makes the Yankees need an arm like Q even more. He raises both of their needs for Q and can get them to bid.
  25. I think somehow in the end, Hahn gets Bregman if he deals with the Astros. Would likely be a Q+ deal for Bregman+, but Hahn just pulled off Moncada and Giolito. I don't think anyone expected the Red Sox to part with Moncada or the Nats to give up Giolito for Eaton. Hahn upped Quintana's trade value by sending him to the Red Sox, because it means other teams really have to step up to go after them.
