  1. Spoilers, obviously. Non-spoilers: This wasn't a comedy like I'm sure people will try to say it is. It wasn't formulaic either. There was heavy s*** going on in this film.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 5, 2016 -> 06:01 PM) But they don't. Studios are never unhappy with a couple hundred million in profit, all things considered. Could it have made more? Sure. But it also could have made less and lost them money. Again, they crank out Transformers movies which critics hate, but people see them...so long as they're making profits they're not going to care. Sure, when I sell a stock I'd prefer to sell it at 100 instead of 75, but if I bought it at 40...I'm not really going to cry. Disappointed, not unhappy. When you're expecting excess of one billion, it's a bit of a let down.
  3. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 5, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) Don't panic, there were some players not linked to teams. And some of these guys could be going to different teams (which could be unlikely). This is something that I really want to be changed in the CBA: Once you exceed your bonus pool, you CAN'T sign a player to over 300k I'd give all teams equal spending money. Once you spend that, you can't sign anymore players or something equally heavy.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 5, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) Not happening. Regardless of what people want, or say, or the bulls*** they make up to pretend the movie failed, the movie made almost 900 million and counting. And ignoring that ridiculous made up number from Forbes as to what the movie would need to profit, the studio is ecstatic. The movie will easily go on to gross over a billion with merch and rentals/sales and in the end, record massive profits. And that's all studios care about. They don't care about Tomato ratings. They don't care what fanboys think. If they did, they wouldn't keep making Transformers moves that people keep seeing. Snyder is staying. If Disney considered Age of Ultron disappointing, then Warner Brothers definitely considers Batman v. Superman disappointing.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 5, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) http://screenrant.com/batman-v-superman-box-office-billion/ Batman vs Superman will not hit the $1B mark at box office Never expected that in a million years.
  6. Time for EJ's theme song.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 4, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) how messed up would that be? That would be the equivalent of Palmeiro wagging his finger at congress, except Arrietta is in his prime unlike Raffy And yet, not shocking.

  9. Benetti jinxed the hell out of that one.
  10. Dear lord Abreu murdered that.
  11. GreenSox, honestly, just stop making stuff up and trying to justify silly notions of hero worship. It's embarrassing and is a complete broken record at this point. Rip the Swisher trade if you want. That'd be fair. But you're so blinded by this hero worship notion and antagonistic approach that you don't care bringing up the one that people would actually agree with.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 4, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) I made the mistake of reading some articles and deciding to turn on the TV finally the night after Bernie won another primary to see if it was safe to turn on the TV that night. The msnbc panel pulled the same ol, why are we even talking about Indiana, Hillary is storming to the nomination crap, and after 15 minutes I got mad and turned it off again seeing ol Bernie can't get a fair shake. I have stuck to my guns and not listened to a word of anything coming out of Hillary's mouth, turning the radio dial if there was danger of hearing her voice. But like I said I turned on the TV for the first time in a month and paid the price last night. My anger was fueled so I made a few posts last night and today. If they'd talk about her emails more and the odds of her being put on trial, it might be safe for me to watch TV again. But those topics are no/nos on television. Did you even bother reading anything Lostfan wrote?
  13. QUOTE (Dunt @ May 4, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) I was thinking of a hypothetical Sox-Cubs world series matchup while sitting out at the game last night. Would you stagger Sale and Q after Arrieta or would you start Sale vs. Arrieta? I think there is some sense in throwing, say, Rodon game 1 then having Sale vs. Lester game 2 and Q vs. Lackey game 3. Depends on who has home field. If it's at the Cell, I'm throwing Sale. In the NL, Rodon.
  14. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ May 4, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) How bad would it be for cubs fans to make it to the series only to be swept by the White Sox? Lol If this happened, I think it would go seven, with Sale and Q each winning two games.
  15. Saw four friends today on FB talking about a Sanders/Kasich dream ticket as a 3rd party. Hopefully it's a situation where one had the idea and then it spread to the others, cause dear lord that is idiotic.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 4, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) I do have to say that while the AL is deeper, I'd much rather be in the AL playoffs than the NL playoffs. The Cubs could face DeGrom/Thor/Harvey in a 5-game series, then have the Nats with Scherzer/Strasburg/Gio. And don't forget about Bumgarner & the Giants in an even year. The Dodgers aren't as good, but I bet they add another pitcher to Kershaw. There's no teams like that in the AL IMO. It's much tougher to make the playoffs in the AL, but fewer major land mines once you get to the random championship generator that is October baseball. Sale, Quintana and Rodon...?
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) Bernie Sanders is a walking moral victory. QUOTE (bmags @ May 4, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Only if that group continues to utlize the democratic party to build within, rather than just move on to caring about something else and claim it's "corruption" that was the reason they failed not that it's hard work to change a country of 330 million people I can't agree with these more. I'm currently seeing my hardcore Berner friends pining for a Sanders/Kasich ticket. Or Jill Stein. Or Gary Johnosn. It is so clearly not about the issues with them anymore. It's about being special.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ May 4, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) The nationals or mets will take care of them. As can Sale-Quintana
  19. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-white-sox-have-two-aces/ Look! Recognition!
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) Wow, I didn't think you were really that petty. Apparently I need to lower the bar. Eh, I'm giving this one to DA. Someone saying Abreu then wanting scrap heap is laughable.
  21. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 3, 2016 -> 11:48 PM) Fangraphs doesnt update their leaderboards until the AM. Quintana was the best pitcher in the AL by fWAR going into tonight's game... I can only assume he's going to climb even higher now. Yeah, I was accounting for that. Going into tonight he was 1.3, Sale 1.2 I love Sale, but if Q could keep it up and win the Cy Young that would be the most satisfying damn thing other than a World Series title.
  22. Going by fWAR, the Flying Serpent is the best pitcher in the AL, ahead of Chris Sale.
  23. Yeah, he has been given the short end from national television media. However, legacy media isn't the only hat in the ring. He gets more than enough love from new media and social media. But he's still losing. He's impressive, but he's still losing and barring an unexpected upset in California, where he currently lags behind Hillary by 10 points, he's dead in the water.

QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ May 3, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) So he's not a "team player" because he elected to be released, rather than go to the minors? The Sox front office obviously didn't want him around anymore. Their offer to send him to the minors was nothing more than a professional courtesy. I think the White Sox genuinely were hoping he'd go to AAA and try and reinvent himself.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 3, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Holy bleep ... Bernie won Indiana! It's pretty obvious except for this super delegate crap, Bernie would be taking the country by storm. Everybody loves him. His speeches are by far the most attended. They are happenings! Young people worship him. Lines are long, long, long. But this super delagate thing, combined with the media's never giving him a fair shake lead to .... you know who, Hillary (same song, 90th verse, no reason to elect her cept it's her turn; what a nation we have). I love turning on virtually any political show and any discussion of Bernie will quickly erode to somebody like Heraldo saying/screaming, "Bernie doesn't have a chance!" And then they pretty much move on to Drumpf or somebody rather than discuss the Bernie phenomenon. Just the fact the millenials worship him you'd think would guarantee fair coverage, but nooooo ... guys like Chris Matthews, lol, gotta have Ms. Clinton in the oval office. Bernie with another victory tonight and it means ... NOTHING. You do know that Bernie is losing in the popular vote as well, right? Not just super delegates.
