QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 14, 2013 -> 09:42 PM) Haven't seen much at any hoops sites (that's not paid subscriber only) outside of the Deng to Cleveland for Waiters+ rumor a couple weeks back. Don't see why Cleveland would do it. It's not like they're a Luol Deng away from winning anything and Waiters is still a talented young asset. Then again, they drafted Anthony Bennett #1. Supposedly he and Kyrie got into a fight. This team is bad. Pray for one of Jabari/Wiggins/Exum to join Rose, Noah, Mirotic and Jimmy in the starting line next year.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 06:43 PM) We could afford Abreu why not here. This creates a more viable option to negotiate vs. a blind system that could totally hose teams. Now, you can freely negotiate similar to the Cuban players. There have been a lot of top cubans who have not signed with the Yankees/Red Sox (see Cepedes/Abreu). This got me thinking: What about a deal similar to JDA's in structure? Massive bonus, can go to arbitration after 3, etc. -
He's bad now, but he really deserved it.

Arenas says a comeback is in order and that the Bulls need him. Agent Zero to the rescue!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) The top of that 2008 draft really wound up being hot garbage. And at the time it looked stacked.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 05:10 PM) It would be stunning if the Sox outbid the Dodgers, Yankees, Angels, Cubs, etc. for Tanaka. This is a much different situation than with Abreu, where a lot, if not all, of the big market teams didn't need a 1B. If Hahn did that, then it'd be amazing.I can't see the Dodgers or Angels in it, both those teams have so much money tied up. Yankees and Cubs I can see.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) They traded Clayton Richard, Adam Russell, Dexter Carter, and Aaron Poreda for Jake Peavy and his remaining contract. Richard was a mid to back of the rotation starter for a couple years and then he blew out his labrum. Russell has been a AAAA reliever his entire career. Carter was released by the Padres, picked up by the White Sox, and then released by the White Sox. Poreda was out of baseball last year and was just recently signed to a minor league deal by the Rangers. Talent wise, Peavy should have commanded much more, but because the Sox were willing to assume a very large remaining contract, even if over the short-term, they were able to pick up an extremely talented pitcher (who was also on the mend) for 4 marginal pitchers. That's where money can be spent. That would be like Rienzo, Veal, Leesman, and Snodgress.

But then we don't get this.

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 10:03 AM) Anybody else hear Rosenthal on the MLB network? Said he has a mole within the White Sox that will "hopefully produce." This came after KW challenged Rosenthal that he couldn't break a story on the White Sox. Guess we'll see if Rosenthal is just BS'ing the next time we make a move. Watch for Rosenthal on twitter.... Today could get exciting.

Only video I can find is of him taking a walk.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 09:28 AM) Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 19m Rick Hahn said Rule 5 acquisition of Adrian Nieto wouldn't keep #WhiteSox from acquiring a catcher but gives them another potential option. It'll be a spring training bloodbath for the catcher's spot.
-
Is it just me or does it seem like 90% of catchers nowadays are switch hitters?

Stockpiling Cubans.

Sox selected Nieto.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 08:55 PM) I hope you're not being serious. He could play on one leg and be better than Nazr Mohammed. And? Nazr is awful, but this current iteration of Noah isn't play a world better. Maybe a moon, but not a world.

Someone tell me why if they trade Deng this team wouldn't be god awful and get a top 5 pick?

I was hoping there was going to be something else to balance it. I'd like Hahn to try, but it won't happen now. Yankees will probably get him. -
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 05:24 PM) I know right, at best Elmore's minor league stats would translate to .260/.330/.380.....Oh wait, that actually IS better than Gordon Beckham. Let it go man, he's done. With that said, I'm pretty sure that Jake Elmore is the answer to about 0 of our problems. Gordon's MiLB numbers translate to better than Gordon

Let's get Nestor Molina!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 08:53 AM) I can't. I just. WOW. MLB 14 The Show is going to be absolutely stunning. I can't wait. I'm thinking I'll have to pick this up again. Especially with the yearly Operation Sports full minors roster.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:50 PM) What about Adam Dunn for Rickie Weeks. Both are FA's after the season and both fill a position that needs and upgrade for each team. Weeks was not good last year after being injured, but it would allow the Sox another year to groom Sanchez and Semien and move Beckham and De Aza in a package to upgrade 3B or C. Considering you called the Eaton deal, I won't shoot this down
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 03:05 PM) If Elmore puts up a .300/.375/.400 season as the starting 2B, I would s*** my pants It would surpass any of KW's scrapheap bargains aside from Quintana. Anything you get from Elmore is a bonus.

Sox acquire Adam Eaton from ARZ, deal Santiago, Jacobs

QUOTE (professa @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 02:04 AM) How did the D-backs lose the deal? They had two center fielders (Pollock and Eaton) and have a surplus of SP to acquire a 30-40 HR bat. The Dbacks had Aaron Hill slated in as their 4 hitter before the deal. They had a surplus and addressed a weakness. Would you give up Skaggs and Eaton for a cheaper Adam Dunn? Cause that's the gist of it. -

Finally got around to watching highlights of him. This dude can field. And his arm is sickening it's so strong. Still wish we could have also pried Owings from them, but I'll be cool with Eaton.
