  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 06:26 PM) So Diamonbacks are going to have Grienke Corbin Leake Maeda Bradley That's a great rotation in the NL. Maeda signed already??
  2. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) BTW what if it were the Marlins asking for Tim Anderson for Jose Fernandez. Sale Fernandez Quintana Me ChiSoxfn Straight up wouldn't be nearly enough to get it done.
  3. @blawrie13 12:56 PM 7 Dec 2015 Past behind me like a ponytail #RHand Indication that he's been traded?
  4. Samardzija is going to revitalize his career going back to the NL. I guarantee it.
  5. Greinke must really like their new uniforms.
  6. I'd be really happy if the Sox signed this guy and Hwang.
  7. Sports Mockery posted this article the other day. Some intriguing ideas, though I'm not sure I'd be on board with all of them. - Trade LaRoche, Flowers and cash to PHI for DH Ryan Howard - Trade Quintana, Garcia, Montas and Jones to LAD for RF Yasiel Puig and 3B Jacob Turner - Sign C Jarrod Saltalamacchia - Sign LHP Mark Buehrle - Sign LHP Neal Cotts - Re-sign C Geovany Soto Projected lineup: 1. Adam Eaton CF 2. Melky Cabrera LF 3. Yasiel Puig RF 4. Jose Abreu 1B 5. Ryan Howard DH 6. Justin Turner 3B 7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia C 8. Tyler Saladino SS 9. Carlos Sanchez 2B Projected rotation: Chris Sale LHP Carlos Rodon LHP Erik Johnson RHP Mark Buehrle LHP John Danks LHP Projected 2016 payroll: $128 million Thoughts? I'm not comfortable with Saladino as our starting SS, and I definitely think the LAD trade would be an overpay on the Sox part. I'd prefer to get their young catcher Austin Barnes back in that deal.
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 21, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) Great find! Doubt he will be there when the Sox pick but I'd be all over Applin with his high OBP, base stealing and LHB. I think Lawrie is the 3B Houston would likely want to trade for Robertson due to his salary and contract. He would still be a cheaper option for the Sox at 3B than Freese. Lawrie's contract is unusual in that it's a deflating contract which is rare. I'd take him. Heck, I'd offer Robertson + reliever or EJ for Lawrie/ Musgrove/Applin. Doesn't sound too far off. Are you thinking of Brett Lawrie or Jed Lowrie? Lawrie is with Oakland.
  9. Yankees, Cubs Have Discussed Trade Involving Brett Gardner, Starlin Castro
  10. If you're trading Jose Quintana to the Rangers and not getting Joey Gallo back in return, pass.
  11. I wondered a few times what difference it might have made had the Sox traded for Montero last offseason. Apparently we were one of the teams in on him.
  12. Hearing all over Twitter that ex-Braves RHP Tommy Hanson is in a coma after massive organ failure. Jordan Schafter tweeted that he has indeed died, though that may have been inaccurate/premature. Thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 08:28 AM) The Cubs lol? They have blue socks Where exactly would the Cubs play Park? Unless Epstein knows something we don't and the NL is adding the DH this season.
  14. If I recall correctly the Sox outbid the Rockies by just a few millions to sign Abreu two years ago. I'd hate to be a Rockies fan if that same sort of thing were to happen again now, haha.
  15. Write Sox ‏@WriteSox 2h2 hours ago The White Sox are gonna sign Byung-ho Park and move Jose Abreu to third.
  16. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 1, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) That's a terrible trade for Oakland. To play devil's advocate, so was Jeff Samardzija for Addison Russell.
  17. If the Cubs signed Gordon to play LF, wouldn't that just about seal Schwarber's fate? Does anyone really think he can stick as a catcher? I like that one proposal I read to trade Schwarber to Oakland for Sonny Gray. The A's get set at DH for the next decade, and the Cubs have an easy #1/2 under team control through 2020.
  18. Juan Uribe would've made the play Murphy butchered.
  19. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 09:13 PM) Frazier is definitely a 20+ HR guy. LaRoche was supposed to be a 30+ homer guy at the Cell and look how that worked out...
  20. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 05:25 PM) Exercise Alexei Ramirez $10m option Sign C Matt Wieters 2y $26m Sign 3B Jae-Gyun Hwang for 3y $12m + $3m posting Sign RP Antonio Bastardo for 1y $5m Trade SP Erik Johnson to Cincinnati Reds for CF Billy Hamilton 1 Adam Eaton L LF 2 Jose Abreu R 1B 3 Matt Wieters S C 4 Jae-Gyun Hwang R 3B 5 Melky Cabrera S DH 6 Trayce Thompson R RF 7 Micah Johnson L 2B 8 Alexei Ramirez R SS 9 Billy Hamilton S CF BENCH: Tyler Flowers R C, Adam LaRoche L 1B/DH, Avisail Garcia R OF, Tyler Saladino R INF 1 Chris Sale L 2 Jose Quintana L 3 Carlos Rodon L 4 Frank Montas R 5 John Danks L 6/LR: Scott Carroll R Relievers: Zach Duke L, Dan Jennings L, Nate Jones R, Jake Petricka R SU: Antonio Bastardo L CL: David Robertson R --- I dont know. Overall I like this plan, but I'd feel much more comfortable adding another starter. Montas & Danks at the back of the rotation is pretty shaky.
  21. I'm actually kind of relieved the Royals won. If it had been Blue Jays/Mets my allegiance would be split as I like both teams equally and both have former Sox players on their rosters. This makes it easier for me to root for the Mets.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Did the Cubs really choke? The Mets were just better. You can be disappointed that your season came to an end and be damn proud of what they accomplished as well and I think Cubs fans have that right. For a team that's supposed to have a great offense--and did for much of the regular season--I'd say yeah, they choked. Team slash line of .164/.225/.297 over the four game series. 4-19 with RISP.
  23. The Cubs will be right back, unless they won't Great article. Makes the point that anything can happen in baseball and that as good as the Cubs "should" be for the next five or so years, there's no guarantee they'll get any closer to the Series during that time than they did this year. I'm hearing a lot of Cubs fans saying things like, "I'm disappointed but proud. The future is bright." I'm sorry, but if I were a Cubs fan I'd be p*ssed right now. Any time you get that close to a pennant and choke as badly as they did, how can you not be furious? Especially after the fireworks show they just put on against the team with the best record in baseball?
  24. Not gonna write out a full plan, but does anyone think the Sox would take a look at this Korean third baseman assuming he gets posted? Jae-Gyun Hwang, Ah-Seop Son Ask To Be Posted By KBO Team
