  1. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 16, 2011 -> 04:34 AM) I hate to throw cold water on an upbeat post game thread, but Rios was O for 5 and left 7 men on base!!!!! If any team wants one of our pitchers, they'd better agree to take that Rios contract in the deal. I'm ready for a de Aza and Lillibridge platoon. And please, don't anyone dare post that "de Aza is not an everyday Major League hitter". How do you know? Based upon what, his 164 AB's, when he was 23? And, who says Alex Rios is? I'd be shocked if de Aza put up numbers any worse than Rios has. I'd take anywhere near de Aza's limited MLB production from last season over Rios, without even considering the money saved. For me, the question isn't whether I'd prefer de Aza to Rios. The question is; what GM would be dumb enough to take him and that contract? Besides K. W. Moreover, with de Aza in CF, you have your lead off hitter to replace Pierre. Then you have room for Viciedo. Please someone, take Rios and put us all out of our misery!!! All they can do is win games. They won against a top pitcher and I read pessimism and negativity. One game does not win a championship, but they won damit. Is that not enough. One win at a time is all they can do.
  2. He has been more selective. Laying off the high heat and the low outside slider. He has looked better recently.
  3. Of course we didn't get him to be a setup guy but you can't make him an ace simply by paying him. Maybe after 18 months post surgery or down the line he gets it back, but now his best contribution this championship season is a few innings at a time out of the pen.
  4. Trade him now while he still has some value. An average reliever starts next year and becomes an average starter what is that worth? He is still a hot prospect now and could give us a bat especially in a package for a push this season. 5 games out boys! C'mon lets go!
  5. Anything the Sox get from Peavey is gravy. Assume he can't pitch and if we get a few good innings from him great. I said a long time ago ( and was scorned on this site for it ) but still believe he is better suited to bullpen status.
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 09:18 AM) Let's face it. Peavy is going to be one of those elderly people who breaks their hip in the shower. Why wait?
  7. Lets see, the Sox usually get washed up, coming back from bad injury or never fulfilled promise. So how agout Giambi, Morneau, and Milledge? Oh thats right we already got Milledge.
  8. 5 games back at the break with a veteran team. Lets not read the eulogy yet. Detroit? Cleveland? Minnesota? Not exactly dynasties.
  9. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Than it should have been called the 13 plan....but it wasn't. You can't sell one thing and deliver another. Just as McDonald's can't sell you a chicken sandwich and than give you a bun with a hamburger in the middle.....the White Sox can't sell you an Ozzie plan and than deliver Gene Lamont. Sure they can.
  10. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 12:54 AM) How about making Walker the manager and they would have to get a new hitting coach. He would do both
  11. Win tomorrow and will be 5 days in a row without a loss!
  12. You know whats coming here...........If Coop couldn't fix him he must be worthless!
  13. If a change comes it will be after the season. They aren't so far behind that they can't stay "all in" the rest of the way. I wouldn't mind seeing it but I very much doubt it. A rebuild with a new manager is appropiate after one last hurrah the second half.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 08:57 AM) Yeah...driving in the city during Friday rush hour is awesome. Ain't so baad.
  15. I went to the game yesterday ( wed. afternoon 7/6 ). This team looks dead and dull. Can't put my finger on it but little enthusiasm from most players. Looking at the Sox bench almost no one there. Where were they in the clubhouse eating and drinking and watching the game on tv? K.C.'s bench was full of uniforms and seemed involved in the game. Which team looked like a last place team? What the hell happened to Rios? How did he get so bad so fast? He can't even play center very well any more. Personal issues? He is lethargic at best. I got to be thinking about a breath of fresh air at manager. Bring in a new guy let him dispose of some dead weight and light a fire.
  16. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:41 AM) How important is this 4 game series? The Twins could pass us in the standings when this series is over.
  17. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) He never had a chance - it was just the proverbial "cup of coffee", the team getting a look at him vs. big league pitching. He hit .308 with an .840 OPS. Not exactly fail. With all due respect to you I would have to say it was a fail. He did not stick because he could not field the ball, and he had too little plate discipline. Both are necessary in baseball. Did any of the players he is compared to at the top of this string ever succeed by getting sent down after breaking in?
  18. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) You should follow our prospects more closely. He has only succeeded in his only shot at the majors. He didn't succeed enough to stick now did he?
  19. Don't project the kid so high. He has no glove and he has had a shot or two at the majors already. I hope he works out well, but Pujols, Cabrerra,Gonzales? Just as possible he is Rob Deer, Or ( heaven forbid ) Adam Dunn. Let him progress. He could be A Carlos Lee.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 12:28 AM) I don't understand how these writers can be so shortsighted. Adam Dunn is owed approximately $49 million for the remainder of his contract here. But yeah, he's struggled terrible for 80 games, so let's just bench him permanently. Makes a ton of sense. These guys are absolute fools. If it were up to them, we'd have half the payroll spent on paying players in other organizations because we DFA'd them after 30 games. It has become a disposable society. I want it and I want it now.
  21. I agree with Peavey but he has not yet contributed enough to be calling the team out. Leadership is for those who answer the call every time.
  22. Radio and tv here! Ya know about two weeks ago people were b****ing about Dunn hitting .187 I posted that .175 was going to be low water mark. Where is his average now?
