  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) Trust me, I think you and I care more about the Cubs/Sox games than anyone else on here. Not so fast! I hope the Sox sweep the flubs and go on a tear and Ozzie ends up manager of the year. Hoping we lose is never right. Especially concerning the Cubs. Maybe those that don't live in town have forgotten how important it is to lord it over cub's fans. The team in first at the all star break seldom wins it. Last year the Sox got hot too early and were in first at the break. Then what? I believe this team is typical of mlb today. Lacking in fundamentals and much about individual performances for that next big contract. Having said that I think they can put together a hot streak to propel into the lead or right there. Since the division games are coming up, a hot streak and some sustained winning of series after could go a long way toward dropping the teams behind and pulling ahead. Lets start with a sweep of the enemy up north and keep going. Often times the emotion of that series has carried over. If the pitching stays good some of the dead spots in the lineup may wake up. ( Rios, Beckham, Dunn,Pierre ) I mean they have to have better second halves don't they? I for one see this year as kinda crazy so far. Maybe the craziest thing would be ending up on top. If not the Sox who?
  2. Nothing seems right this season so far. So maybe the usually not so good second half Sox will be good the second half. I think Cleveland and Detroit will both have bad second halves. That has also been the Tiger's trend of late and Cleveland can be overtaken. The Sox play the division teams alot in July after the break. This will tell the story. If the Twins don't get their stars back then? Why not us?
  3. If everything that has gone wrong the first half can go right the second half the Sox could still win this thing. Nothing has seemed to work out as expected. These things have a way of evening out over 162 games.
  4. I'm getting worn down by Ozzie, Hawk, Walker,Beckham,Pierre, unless the Sox catch fire the second half and win this division I'm in for the rebuild. Some new clean White Sox on the air and on the field might feel pretty good.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) When did he admit? I can't recall the date or the source. Sorry, I know that is amateurish, but I am sure I heard he admitted using with out knowing or experimenting. I'd say about two years ago. Around the same time as A-Rod. Maybe another poster can help me with this.
  6. How come Ivan Roridguez gets a pass when it comes to peds? I have heard Hawk rave about him and today the FOX announcers assured us he was a first ballot HOFer. He and A-rod are both admitted users. Let Mcguire and and Bonds in or keep these guys out.Take a fricking stand one way or the other. No selective favorite sons!
  7. The utility role is a very important one. This player plays almost as much as aregular, but at different positions. Lilli plays his best ball when fulfilling that role. Make him a regular and you lose your utuity man and diminish his success. leave him in the utility spot. Have him,Pierre,or Vizquel lead of as one of them will be in every game. 4.5 games back makes me think the Sox can win this division with a hot streak and some consistent play. Lets go Sox!
  8. I have never been a fan of trading away your best players. I know obviously you have to give something in order to get something. Also, payroll is an issue. Bottom line though, you you need good players. Don't get rid of them. Keep it simple and keep your talent.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) If forum members want to post constant hyperbole and talk in absolutes, you will face potential suspensions (up to indefinite suspensions). Note: No warnings will be issued, so consider this your warning. How many game suspension for an attack on Kenny and Ozzie? Is there an appeal process? Also, as long as Adam Dunn is under .200 there should no suspensions involving that bum. Have a nice day.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 07:50 AM) Veeck didn't put money anywhere except his pocket when he sold the team. Thats right, he owned the team twice and liquidated it both times he sold it. There was not much left for the new owners both times.
  11. I was around in the 70's and 80's much of the 60's too. Better than it used to be? The Sox had some terrible teams but also some very good teams. Much like today they were close but no cigar. I mean one Championship in 94 years!! C'mon.............. I love my White Sox and always will, but we can't settle for winning seasons. We- gotta-win- championships-more -often. Otherwise it is still not success.
  12. Ozzie will probably leave Pierre in and have an outfield of Pierre,Rios and Dunn. OUCH!
  13. Al Kaline Catfish Hunter Mickey Mantle Carl Yaztremski Ted Williams Miguel Olivo Mark Buerhle Frank Howard Micheal Young Billy Butler Every team's "he just kills us" guy..............Why stop now boys?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 07:48 AM) Pierre needs to get a "pulled hamstring". Great idea! A couple of weeks to see how things work out, without him. Maybe he is not done and could come out of his slump and be on fire the second half. I personally am not sure he has totally lost it so fast. Viciedo in right,Lillibridge in center (leading off) and Quentin in left. Try it while Rios simmers and Juan's "hamstring" heals.
  15. A very hard worker. A hustle guy. Never ever do you see him not give 100%. A class act. He is the type of ballplayer I like to watch and a good team would love to have at the top of the order. Having said that it seems he has either lost it or is down for some reason and if you want to win games it might be time to play him less. I wouldn't cut him, as his replacement may not work out so great, you can never tell, plus he could still be valuable situationally. I have said on another post an outfield of Viciedo in right, Lillibridge in center ( and leading off ), and Quentin in left is no worse defensively and better offensively.
  16. The post is "if you had to". I guess if you put Sale with Rios or Pierre and asked for nothing in return some one might take over the salary. I did not say the Sox should do that but you have to bundle some good or potentially good cheap player with a high useless salary to get a taker.
  17. Two steps forward and one back for the good teams. One forward and two back for the not so good teams. Just how baseball is, with the few exceptions of 100 win teams. C'mon a month ago we would have been excited to know we would be 4.5 games back by June 12th. The quit on this site was sickening. It's a long season and it will be the Sox, Minnesota, and Detroit just like we thought all along. How about an outfield of Quentin in left, Lillibridge in center, and Viciedo in right? With Lillibridge leading off. Not any worse defensively and better offensively.
  18. This one hurt....................Santos is not the answer either........................I guess closer by committee is up.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 11:33 PM) I know, that was the picture I was trying to paint that Pierre was out of position and got such a bad read that Morel had to venture all the way out to LF. I was at the game last night. Pierre was playing where he was positioned by the coaches as they all do. He was deep in a no doubles position. A high fly ball to short left was hit and Morel kowing how deep Pierre was charged hard well into left field. Pierre got a bad read and then pulled up because of Morel. It was the left fielder's ball and should have been caught. What really got me was the two perfectly executed Mariner bunts later that inning. The Sox have trouble getting even one down and other teams seem to use this tool when ever they need to, flawlessly!
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) Good! That's all we can ask for in the end. As long as they try their best and have fun out there, I'll be happy. I hope that was sarcasm.
  21. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) Maybe if we put him on waivers, an idiot GM will claim him! Isn't KW the idiot GM? Rios, Peavey,Jackson, etc. Do the rest of MLB's Gm's play him for a fool or what?
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 06:16 PM) Groins typically don't heal quickly either. Don't be so gullible to believe so easily it is his groin. Smokescreen for more arm problems?
  23. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 31, 2011 -> 04:20 PM) So you believe Dunn will hit .190 for the remainder of the contract? No.......... .175
  24. Ramirez is too good a hitter, and too poor a bunter to be hitting number two. Vizquel seems like a better fit there. Dunn? If he didn't carry a past reputation he would be cut. So far he sucks big time. Rios bad. Just when Morel starts to hit Ozzie stops playing him. Ozzie is very frustrating. Pierre is coming around but still scary in the field. Konerko is great. Quentin and A.J. are what they are. Beckham is a ? Cleveland is frightening me.
