Stone is a pro but I don't feel real comfortable with a broadcast with him and Hawk. D.J. was a real beginner when he first started but improved quite a bit, but never was as good as Drydale and Hawk and then Paciorek and Hawk. I have been tired of Hawk for some time now, and I hope he retires soon. Maybe Paciorek and Stone could make a good team. The best man overall for listening to was John Rooney. If something occurred between Hawk and Wimpy I'm glad two baseball lifers with a long history have patched things up. 5 games behind K.C. lets get them and then the Tigers. GO SOX!!

Viciedo in right, Quentin in left and Lillibridge at third. The pitchers may as well just give up. To get Viciedo in the batting order I guess you must put him in left or right, but yikes what an outfield. Not much worse than it is now though with Pierre. Who leads off? Vizquel, the second baseman. I can live without Beckham in the starting lineup. I too wish we had Getz at second and leading off.

Can't get rid of both?

If the Sox got sold - and moved out of state

QUOTE (knightni @ May 10, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) Just a little food for thought today. I'll give you guys multiple answer options. This almost happened a few times since 1968. They actually played some games in Milwaukee about 1970 or so. Governor Thompson saved them from moving by forming the Illinois sports commission when they built the new park. These memories are too painful. Why bring up such an ugly topic. Don't plant any seeds you don't want to harvest. You should have put 1. go on a murder rampage 2. commit suicide...................as other options. -
And that's a White Sox winning streak!!!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2011 -> 09:52 AM) Hawk & Wimpy will be in the booth for the A's series! Stoney on vacation. Vacation! Isn't getting 5 months off in the off season enough?

He should appear on the ballot, but probably not get in. Similiar to Harold Baines. Depends though on who else is on the ballot with him. Another few very good years and he could be on the cusp especially if druggies are excluded. Although he was very inconsistent earlier in his career he has been better of late. Also his fielding has continued to improve to where he very good around the bag. This should count for something. I like that the HOF is difficult to achieve. Only the crem' de la crem' make it and I'm not sure he is quite there. He would not have played this long with the Yankees because they would have brought in high priced talent to replace him when he went into half season long slumps.

Put names in a hat and draw them out for batting order. It would be fun and relax a pressing team. What the f**k if we are out of it lets have some fun! Konerko gave himself up to make sure the cement foot Dunn would score.

Time to drop Beckham and Morel and Sale to Charlotte or lower. Play Teahen at third and Vizquel at second. If Vizquel gets injured use Lilibridge at second. If Teahen gets injured use Vizguel at third and Lili at second. Bring up Viiciedo for right field and put Quentin back in left. Using Pierre for pinch bunting, pinch running and utility outfield. Bring up Jordan Danks for center field until Rios toe is healed and then late inning defensive replacement. Bring up Marquez and groom Sale for starting while in minors. Bat Vizquel at leadoff.

It's getting to the "fun bad" point.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 3, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) St. Louis just hung up on you A bag of balls was too much for Beckham?

Wasn't this thread supposed to be lets try and find positives? There is plenty of things to be disapointed about but also plenty of other threads for it. Nothing good will ever happen again! C'mon show some fight! And hope the team does. Maybe a brawl will help. Didn't it happen against the Tigers in 2000? First thing start retaliating for hit batsmen.
-
Well, lets see.............not much in the way of positives, but here goes. 1. It appears as though the schedule must call for a lot of home games against the division during the summer. Could be fun boys. 2 Interleague plays has always been good to us. 3. They seem to be sticking together, no finger pointing so far. 4. Warmer weather warmer bats. 5. Once considered hopeless maybe they will stop pressing. Have some fun and play with wreckless abandon.

Don't give up! Don't ever give up!! Our Sox will rise again!!!

Always darkest before the dawn! GO GO WHITE SOX!! Down but not out!!! Win today and we have split with Cleveland, K.C. and the Twinkies.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) How about Buehrle and Beckham for Rasmus? How about keeping Buerhle and trading Beckham for a bag of baseballs?

QUOTE (Andrew @ May 2, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) I'm probably not, but you DID say you loved reading every word of the article... I wouldn't have lined the cat box with it. Why would you line a cat box, and why would you use newspaper? Just asking.

Sale came from a small college. Had success and immediately went to the majors. He confused hitters who only got to see him once for 1/3 of a season. I think he needs some time in the minors to become a professional pitcher. Thornton? Use him in non pressure situations and get him back to where he has had success. Setting up. It is too early to call this season lost but not too early to be concerned about falling any further behind. Time to start creeping to 5 or so games back by the end of this month.

A.J. has been the most hated man in baseball for a long time. He behaved himself when K.W. took a chance on him and now the ass***e in him is re-emerging. The biggest ass is the manager. I could see it being an uncomfortable situation for some guys. But so what, make your big money and win ballgames. Winning is fun remember. It cures all ills.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) I don't think that the entire league has "figured out" Gordo or found a way to exploit his approach. If you think the league has found something please point it out because I haven't seen anything special they are doing against him. He's getting started way too late and fouling off every good pitch to the right, just a hair late every time. Walker needs to be held accountable for the prolonged slumps of our hitters and figure out a way to get them right again much, much quicker. And it's not only April when we don't hit, it's also September as well let's not forget under Walk and I've had enough of it. You haven't noticed his weakness for the high heater?

Never thought I would miss Chris Getz!

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 1, 2011 -> 01:53 AM) By this logic, the manager should NEVER be fired! You cannot fire the players, Kenny isn't going anywhere until after the season (as much as I'd love for him to be fired too) and you also cannot just sit there as the "all in" season burns to the ground long before Memorial Day. Somebody is going to take the fall if this doesn't turn around fast, and the only way it'll get the players attention at all is if it's Ozzie. Do I think it'll make a difference? Probably not. I think the end game here is a new manager and Rick Hahn as the GM on opening day of 2012. But, the team can't just give up like I already have. Its got to be Ozzie/Oney. Walker is not a big enough impact. Ozzie is the bombshell to let the players know they are going to go too if this doesn't change now. No one is sacred. If Ozzie can get fired the players can get sent down released or traded. Light a fire under their asses with a bold move. Bring in Bobby Valentine.

Kw has put together a collection of talented players, instead of a team.

I can't make a case for him any more. Every year he talks about how important defense is and every year the Sox defense is sloppy at best. He preaches how his team should play the game right and fundamentals like base running are very poor. Pinch hitting, pinch running, and late inning defensive replacements almost never happen. His son publicly revealing private clubhouse issues. Enough, since we all the negatives and the thread is make a case FOR him. Positives? I don't know anymore.

Watched tonights game. I felt like laughing at times. I felt like crying at times. Was just plain pissed off most of the time.
