  1. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) Love this board and I take no pleasure in being right predicting this as a mediocre team (at best) during this offseason, but what were optimists thinking? You were not right...............They are not mediocre. They are downright ugly..............right now. If they come back I hope you remember this I told ya so. I know you are a Sox fan and Sox fans ( most ) are realistic, but it is too early to gloat. You can not read a eulogy yet. The body may still have life in it. GO SOX!
  2. 10 games back has always been a cut off for me. Any team not within single digits is no threat. Yeah it is only April but behind by double digits in last place is real bad. It only took one month to fall 10 games back. 20 games back by the end of May if the same pattern continues? For example if Cleveland plays 500 how long will it take the Sox to catch up. A hot streak would certainly help but as of now no legitimate reason to be optimistic. GO SOX!
  3. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) maybe he gave up jerking off for lent. Lent is over so if he builds back up as the season goes on I guess you would be right.
  4. Tough call but even banging Liza would be better than going north. Don't talk that way man, c'mon things will get better.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) And that will be the day J4L finds a new team to cheer for. Oh my goodness if that happens. I might switch over to the Cubs. Even thinking that makes me question your loyalty. Suicide yes, Cub fan no!
  6. How much longer until Morel and Beckham are starting at Charlotte? Vizquel and Teahen should play more. Pierre and Vizquel should bat one two. I wish it wasn't this way but I have seen about enough of Beckham and Morel is not MLB ready yet if ever. If A.J. grounds out to the first or second baseman again I'm am going to...........well something.
  7. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 10:32 AM) Not sure where to post this, but the other night I dreamed that Frank Thomas had been murdered. I am obviously one deeply disturbed White Sox fan. Too bad it wasn't Ozzie
  8. Why doesn't Ozzie start Teahen and let him get three at bats and put Morel in at the end for defense? Instead you have Morel getting three at bats and Teahen on the field at the end of the game.
  9. Go ahead and crucify me for this but, how about easing Peavey back by putting him in bullpen and leaving Humber in the rotation until he begins to falter.

    Dunn

The most likely is A.J. grounding out to the second baseman.
  11. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) For every example of a team firing a manager during the season and then succeeding you can probably find 10 teams who started slow, stuck with their manager, and succeeded anyway. The reason the team is losing games is because it isn't hitting like it should. That falls on the shoulder's of the guys with the bats, not Ozzie Guillen. Under this reasoning a manager is not needed. Only guys with bats.
  12. I wish it wasn't true but I think Ozzie is the problem. The GM doesn't like him and I don't think the players do either. Players will seldom rip their manager especially seeing what happens when you do. What happens? Ask Bobby Jenks, Orlando Cabbrerra, Magglio Ordonez, Nick Swisher,etc................Oney lurks too.
  13. What happens more often? Dunn strikes out or A.J. grounds out to the second baseman?
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 07:03 PM) Walker getting fired would be interesting, but I don't know if it would be effective enough. If anybody gets fired it should be Ozzie. And when Ozzie is replaced, Kenny should also be blasted publicly by Reinsdorf if he has the guts to go to the news conference. Yep! Exactly. Firing Walker is not enough. Make a splash and let Kenny do what he has wanted to do for a long while now. Fire Ozzie and Oney!
  15. This team needs leadrship. Ozzie is capapble of throwing anyone under the bus at any time. Since his obcenity filled tirade where he said he had "no closer I've tried everyone" (deflecting the blame on the players) this team has sucked. A change in the dugout could unite a talented bunch. Not to mention tighten up some of the silly moves Ozzie makes. I will forever be grateful for 2005 but this ship is off course.
  16. Commit suicide? Far fetched and naive I suppose but how about replacing KW with Joe Torre and firing Ozzie and hiring Lou Piniella. Kinda wild huh?
  17. Who would new managerial candidates be? Buddy Bell?
  18. Maybe they should adopt a play "all out" philosophy.
  19. QUOTE (hawkubes @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 03:28 AM) Let's fire Ozzie and let's fire KW. I'm so sick and tired of this talk. Ozzie's a great manager (yes, he makes mistakes, who doesn't) the players want to play for him. Kenny Williams has made some great moves, i'm so tired of everybody talkin smack about KW's moves. He's doing everything he can to make the white sox a winner, and that's what they're gonna do. Let's go Sox :gosoxretro: Sox fan with a cub fan mentality
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) This is literally awful. Beckham's floor is higher than Getz' ceiling. I am not saying Getz is a better player. He might end up that way though. What I am saying is if the Sox had kept Getz and traded Beckham maybe for a real left fielder or a closer we would have a better team. Maybe the Sox kept the wrong guy. Beckham's floor is getting pretty low.
  21. I know it's a long season but some things are really getting to me. Not just from this season but for a while now. 1. A.J. can't throw anyone out. No excuses no B.S. he can't throw ANYONE out. 2. Beckham can not lay off the high fast ball. I am beginning to think he needed some minor league time, because mostly HE SUCKS! 3. Dunn....UGH! 4.Morel? c'mon 5.The bullpen...........in fact the whole pitching staff.........not so great. Where is our number 1? Peavey? K.W. got taken on that one. mean while I keep my fingers crossed and say GO SOX!
  22. I knew Dunn struck out a lot but................OMG!
  23. More a discussion of Getz plus what the Sox could have got for Beckham, vs. keeping Beckham. This site often points out the lack of home grown talent. Getz came up through each level of the Sox system. Starting slowly but improving enough to advance all the way to the big league team. He continues to improve now batting leadoff as Kansas City's regular second baseman. Beckham hits eight for the Sox and has had one half of a rookie season that was good. I am not so pro Getz as I am not so enamored with Beckham. I don't care where he was drafted, at this point Getz is producing as much as Beckham. The Sox could have got more for Beckham than they did for Getz. Did the Sox keep the wrong guy?
  24. Getz is better defensively and faster. At least he steals more bases. Their average is about the same but Beckham is a better.............what? At the time the Sox could have gotten a lot for Beckham and also they would not now have Teahen, and his salary.
  25. Just wondering. Would the Sox have been better off trading Beckham and keeping Chris Getz?
