This team only needs three things. Pitching, pitching and pitching. A number one starter is hard to find. Peavy is not even a starter. Verlander is a legitimate number one. A proven closer is also hard to find. Maybe Peavy, maybe Thornton, maybe Sale, maybe there should not be so many maybe's with a $125 million payroll.

The Millibridge battle has been fantastic. It's a coin toss as to who to keep, but the Sox don't need them both on the bench. I'd rather take another pitcher, but who? Maybe waiver wire.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) No need for him to be busting his hump on grounders in spring training. I'd rather him pull up at 40% all Spring and have healthy legs for the entire year. How horrid would it be if he pulled a tendon or something before April! A player should always hustle.

Wins in regular and post season games. That is all I want to hear about Peavy.

Beurhle,Danks,Floyd,Jackson. Humber. Watch out American league!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 05:46 PM) The only way he isn't in our rotation is injury. I wish you wouldn't have said that.......I'm sick of Peavy.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) First of all, his contract makes him impossible to "dump." Secondly, I suppose if we want to hurt his value and completely mindf*** him, we can do that. Rather mindf*** him than let him continue to mindf*** us.
-
Mark Prior, oops! I mean Jake Peavy comes back when he can and goes into the bullpen until we can dump him on another desperate for pitching team.

Thornton's easy motion and very fast fastball have given him success. His pitch is straight though and good hitters have hit him ( all star game ). If he could develop another change of speed pitch he could be lethal. I'm sure the pro's have already known this and it is easier said than done. As of now I see him as the best choice. let's play ball!

QUOTE (since56 @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) Is Peavy really sick? Or................. Guess it was just the flu.

They were to compete for the job in spring training. Teahan has won or at least is winning. Pinning your hopes on an unproven rookie is risky. If Teahan faulters Morel is a phone call away. Teahan makes the roster anyway. If Morel stays behind then some one else makes the roster.

I want Chris Sale to succeed, but a couple of months of success does not make him anything but a promising rook at this point. He could end up in the minors by june. I guess that leaves Thornton who I hate to move out of his established role. How about Crain?

Thanks boys

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 26, 2011 -> 11:28 PM) I also don't think this is going to go over well with players, regardless of their feeling for Jenks one way or the other. This is Ozzie doing essentially what Oney was doing, making public a player's personal life and stuff that should've remained behind closed doors. To me it smacks of serious trust issues, not to mention maturity. This

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) If Lovie Smith ever went on and on about how well run the Packers were, even 1/100th of how much Ozzie strokes the Twins, it would be considered a fireable offense by 99.99% of Bears fans. For some reason White Sox fans have tolerated the White Sox stroking of the Minnesota organization for years. 2011 needs to be the year it stops. Yeah! I don't view the Twins with respect I view them with disgust. I wish our team did too. Hats off to them after the season but during? I do wish the Sox players would stop talking about how good the Sox are, just do it on the field.

Any Ideas why Major Networks Dislike The Sox?
soxrwhite replied to Rooftop Shots's topic in Pale Hose Talk
When you can't figure something out, it is usually about money. White Sox nation is not big enough to carry national interest. Which is fine with me. I'll take quality over quantity anyday......(see cubs ) -
Last year at this time the words on this site were all about our great rotation and our HOF'er Gordon Beckham.

Win game 163 against the Tigers to take division. Danks takes next step to stardom. Pierre leads league in steals again, still gets no credit. Quentin big year.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) Just a little bit of hyperbole there. The most extreme it would be would be one foul tip away from having one testicle. OUCH!!
-
If Morneau doesn't come back 100% look for them to move him and put Mauer at first in a year or two. A catcher is a foul tip away from a career ender at any moment.

Sox to go with four man rotation to start the season?
soxrwhite replied to TheChrisSamsa's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Funny how so much seems so reliant on a guy who can only contribute every fifth game, and then only after the first month. Peavy should be frosting on top not the main ingrediant. Maybe Sale does have to come out of the bullpen into the starting rotation after all. I would take a shot at millwood, but then again its not my money. Don't want Bonderman....Jeff Suppan?....Ben Sheets?......... I know scrap heap material. -

Is Millwood still available?
