QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) Crain just because Jenks drove me up the wall already. Change is good sometimes. I wish Jenks the best though. He was a good guy. This sums up how I feel. Grateful for the past, but just couldn't take another year of him. Hopeful on Crain but relieved on Bobby.
-
Jenks? Why didn't Coop fix him?
-
Is Crain better than Putz? Besides signing Dunn this team has not changed much.
-
Its not about individual players. Its about championships. Kenny has one. Another one and he will be even smarter and craftier and any other adjective you want to use.

Is coop still working on fixing Peavy?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 08:43 AM) I'm not sure we all know he ain't what he used to be. For the three seasons 2007-2009, MB put up numbers pretty much in line with his career averages, with ERA's in the mid-upper 3's, similar WHIP and other values. 2010 was a bad year, just as 2006 was, but not AS bad as 2006. To me, there is every indication that 2010 was just an aberrant season. Can't say for sure of course, its POSSIBLE that 2010 was the beginning a slide down. But looking at his career and his age, I'd say that's not likely. His contract is no bargain, but as others have pointed out, he has met the value of the contract so far with his performance. So I am not sure how or why people are 100% convinced that his contract is some sort of albatross. I've watched Buehrle his whole career and numbers can lie. He is not as good as he once was. At least not consistently. It seems as though he has trouble getting the ball over 85mph. I am not saying our beloved Buehrle is worthless just don't expect teams lining up to take his cintract and give us there star players in return. Trading him for no-names would be a pr disaster and cost more in the long run than paying him.

We all love Buerhle. Great career,(possible hof?),world series..............but we all know he ain't what he used to be. So does everyone else. Who will give us anyting but garbage for him and his contract. Trade Buerhle for garbage and ticket sales and over all revenue will go down more than his $14 Mill. Make him the number 4 or 5 starter or maybe a bullpen guy if he falters early, but keep him for a another run at it.

White Sox and other MLB team tv ratings...
soxrwhite replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The number of households watching is probably a more important number than the rating share. -
Why us? How do the White Sox seem to get involved in so many bizarre stories? Why us? Just lucky I guess.

$2400 on a dog? How many families could use that for child care especially at Christmas. Priorities? Ok animal lovers initiate attack.

Multiple Sources: Sox actively shopping Quentin

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 08:02 AM) I think we gotta give TCQ one more year to see if he can get his head straight, as the 2008 version would make our offense pretty sick. I realize that was a while ago but again I think we should give him one more year, seems he will be 100% starting spring training with no nagging injuries. If we've gone this far why can't we just spend another 3-4 million on two halfway decent relievers who have some experience under their belt? It seems silly to spend all this money on PK, Dunn, etc and then start the season with a few minor leaguers working out of the pen.... This makes sense to me. -
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 10, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) To my knowledge, Andruw Jones isn't on our team right now. Jones is not on the White Sox roster. If the Sox trade Quentin and start looking at free agent outfielders then does that put Manny back in the mix too?
-
With Sale/Pena as a starter the pen is .........well thin at best. Quentin's bat makes the lineup awesome with Dunn,Konerko, Rios and the rest. Besides who will play right if we trade him, and what could we get for a guy who could have a breakout year. Teahan, Flowers, Viciedo, Lillibridge, De Aza, have to be the trade bait to shore up the pen.
-
"IF" and I know it a big if considering his history ( at least with the Sox ) Peavy can come back strong by mid-may or early June can't we use Harrell as the fifth starter till then ? Usually the way schedule is set up early plus with cold or rain outs early how many starts does the number five guy get in the first two months? I say this because Sale is going to be needed in the bullpen. Our bullpen seems very thin and he would help very much there. Perhaps even as the closer leaving Thornton where we know he can succeed.

A little concerned here about the pitching. Bullpen and rotation.
-
A tough call. He of the iron glove and no plate discipline. He has a presence though doesn't he. I don't know what you could get for him now. Play him and his value can go up or down. Another year in the minors to up his value then trade him. His defense is too big a liability. It is baseball after all not home run derby.
-
Crede, Dye, Rowand, Uribe, Pods, '05 gone gone gone. Love it but let it go.
-
I believed the hype about Lee and his defense but I honestly just don't see it. Konerko is very good at recieving throws and handles pop ups well. He has an excellent arm, is sure handed but has limited range. Konerko has a better bat. It's all Paulie. Lee peaked in '03 against the cubs. I'll be forever grateful for that but I don't want him. Pena? Nope.
-
No more cringing watching Linebrink warm up? No more "Oh no, sinking feeling as he comes in? I wish him well, maybe he will find some success in the National league, but I am glad he is gone. I don't care who we got for him.

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 11:25 PM) How much worse defensively is Dunn than Quentin? exactly!
-
He was a character, but he could play.

White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.
soxrwhite replied to justBLAZE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think Kenny is done with A.J. and so am I. He can't throw any body out and if he hasn't set the record for grounding to the second baseman he will. Konerko is a tough call. Did that thumb hold him down for several years or was last year just a career year? I don't envy Kenny on that one. If in doubt don't sign him. Bring Putz back. -
The combination of missing him the least and still getting something worthy for him is Floyd.

Let the mayor handle it the way he did Meigs Field. Cubbies? Las Vegas awaits!

I hear the Alomar brothers are available.
