Give Beckham until Teahans return. Then if still the same send him down and play Viciedo at third with Vizquel at second. If Viciedo is a bust too then put Teahan back at third. Viciedo can't be any worse than Beckham has been. Beckham is beginning to get in the way of others.

This kid is killing us. Two balls off his glove tonight, a strike out, a tapper back to the mound, and a swing and a miss on a hit and run. Back under the Mendoza line for his batting average? I've said it before the big leagues are not a training ground. This kid is over matched. The league figured him out the last month of last season. We need him on the bench or in AA! All you defenders must have some kind of crush on him. Be realistic. We have a chance to win this division, this is not the time to develope potential, but play your best nine. He is not ( at least right now ) one of them.

It isn't about Beckham it is about the Sox. Vizquel should play second and bat second. That gives us our best chance.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 29, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) Yes, Teahen is a mediocre defender, but at best Gordon and Alexei could be the best SS-2B tandem out there. Also, hitting wise, Alexei is a far better hitter with warmer weather, and he's heating up. Gordon still has great potential, and Teahen, well, he's Teahen. Lets not candy coat the truth, but lets not cover it in **** either. Ramirez and Beckham the best in the league? Are you voting for them as all stars?

I didn't say he got hit on the wrist. I said he can't risk getting hit there since the wrist injury. Come to think of it he hasn't been the same since. Never healed right?
-
He can't risk getting hit on that wrist. Look at how few times he has been hit compared to past years.

The bigs are not a developemental league. Either he gets it going for real now or I'd rather see Vizquel at short and Ramirez at second. If Beckham can get his average over 250 maybe put vizquel at 3rd and make Teahan utility or trade him for a prospect. Teahan, Ramirez, Beckham, what an infield. Average at best defensivesly and can't hit the floor if they fell out of bed. Whew are they bad! Sox fan forever and always will be., but lets not candy coat the truth.

He's killin' us. Especially hitting second. He's got to go down, for as long it takes to earn another a shot. The bigs are not a training ground.

Forget the booth. Hitting coach!

Whats wrong with Peavy? Hard to say since we haven't seen alot of him in the past. We really can't compare accurately how he looks now from years past as we haven't seen him on a regular basis. He's not living up to his reputation, thats for sure, but who could? We had them as the best staff in the league and a sure division winner and Peavy a God send. Should not have gotten so high when we got him and should not be so low now. Long way to go. If he stays healthy he will contribute. A four game winning streak and people will be right back to predicting a champion. Let them play for a while and let Peavy settle in.

They wanted to stop relying so much on the Homer. Seems like they forgot one thing though. They have to score runs another way!
-
Why did Teahan pinch run and then stay in to play first? Kotsay (like him or not ) is a first baseman. He can run as well or better than Teahan can certainly play first better and then Teahan hit into a double play when he came up to bat. Kotsay could have done that too. What was Ozzie thinking here?

I love when the President of the U.S. is a Sox fan! -
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) Ozzie's opinion of himself as a player always amuses me. I did not see him when he was young (saw him from '93 on), but it seems to me that he would be a bench player if he played today (despite the ROY, GG, and All Star appearances). I saw all of Ozzie's career. Very good defensively but not Aparicio or Vizquell great. Left handed hitter who flew out to left field alot. Could handle the bat though and played the type of game he wants to manage. Definitely a starter in any era. An all star but not a hall of famer. Could run, bunt and ran the bases well. Scored alot of runs with out a lot of rbi. Fun to watch and always hustled. Did not make mant mistakes. Good range sure handed average arm.

It is Soxtalk.com so some White Sox bias is to be expected. However, nationally it is not uncommon to see the White Sox picked to win their division. I look for some very good races in all mlb divisions. I don't see a clear favorite in any divsion. Pitching and my own bias persuade me to take our Sox to win it all.

If our pitching stays healthy I fear no other team, east, central, west, or National League.

Time for another one. Can't live off of one in 93 years. '06,1917,'05, and how about 2010. Gotta have it again and again! -
He's earned at least a few starts. Lets give him the benefit of the doubt. If we get off to a bad start then there will be more pressure for him to perform. A good start by the team will extend his stay of execution by KW.

The Tigers are pretty balanced and a good manager. I would'nt count them out.

Who do you want to get the last roster spot?
soxrwhite replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd love to have the luxury of carrying Hudson for long relief and spot starts, but I went with Nix because I think you have to have more than one spare infielder. Vizquel replaces anyone for any reason and then an in game injury and you are caught with what? Kotsay or Konerko at third base. Nope, gotta have two infielders on the bench. Besides Hudson would only be a phone call away. -
His baserunning, yeah bad. How about those instincts he displays in the field though!

I understand what an established pitcher tries to accomplish in spring training. It's just uncomfortable as a fan watching your whole starting staff get hit so hard so often. You can't wipe away a career of success because of a spring training. The Sox have five established staters with a rook in the wings. It's a long season and barring excessive injury we should prevail in the long run. Nothing like a pennant race down the stretch. Lets hope we are part of and victors of one. Strap it on and hunker down boys we are almost there!

Pitching injuries and offensive woes lead to Kenny axing Ozzie!
-
I'm not a big believer in spring training stats, but the starting pitching has been getting smacked around pretty good lately. I don't like it, especially as we near the end of the spring.
