Sox to go with four man rotation to start the season?
soxrwhite replied to TheChrisSamsa's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think with Sale's motion he is bullpen guy all the way. The problem I see with the four man rotation is can we count on Peavey to be reliable by 5/1? We can't go four man too long but I still think a four man through April will be ok. Hell Cleveland could be snowed out for the first series. The main problem here is Peavey. What if he only gets a few starts in May or June and then down again? The Sox need a fifth starter just in case. I guess Harrell is the guy as of now. -

I remember when 4 man rotations were the norm. I still don't understand why today's super athlete can't handle it. -
Who is the best player on the Sox right now?
soxrwhite replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Can't take a pitcher. Dunn has never swung a bat for the Sox and his defense is under par. I went with Paulie after last year with Alexi a close second. -
When he managed the Sox he was young and very energetic. A real fresh start. Those were some pretty good teams he managed too. If it wasn't for the A's Dynasty of the early seventies the Sox may have won a championship then. Finished second to the A's, I think it was'72, who went on to win three straight world series. Probably played the A's tougher than the playoff and world series opponents did. He was one of those people who just seem to stand out.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 01:40 AM) The Twins staff is a lot of mediocrity after Liriano. Please let this happen. I agree with this 100%. Which is why I think they will find a way to keep him.

Just kill every living thing.........................................especially this thread.

I don't have a problem with legal animal hunting. I also don't have a problem with dog lovers. The problem I noticed was the title of the article was " passionate about animal rights". This coming from an avid hunter seems wacky. Is he thinking about animal rights when he has a deer in his gun sights. Really don't care very much about any of this. Lets play ball!

I can't believe the Rangers want some one to pay his salary and give them a starting pitcher and a position player. I gotta believe if they could just unload his salary they would take "a player to be named later." As for the White Sox I would take Michael Young an all star over Brent Morel an unproven rook in a heart beat. If the Sox could dump Teahen and his salry maybe they could afford Young and let Morel play another year at AAA.

Animal lover and avid hunter, hmmm.

Hopefully not " and he was looking so good about a week (weak ) back"

QUOTE (WhiteSUX @ Feb 8, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) I forgot he had all of those SB's last year. but I thought someone with a better average ,HR's and RBI would have a higher ranking. Now he is sucking up

No one knows if his velocity will be the same. No one knows just how long it will take him to return to major league form. I just hope he doesn't try to rush it and has a set back.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2011 -> 10:51 AM) I don't know that I thought he was a hero...the question is, should we regard him as a villain? I guess I'm being a little harsh. There were many factors involved. I just don't care if they melt down the statue and implode the stadium. Vandalism does make Sox fans look bad, like the stereotype, but I'm not convinced it was a Sox fan. You think you will see a Harry statue outside The Cell any time soon?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2011 -> 08:19 AM) The phrase "Harry Defected" implies that Harry Carey made the decision to leave for the north side despite the Sox wanting him back. Correct me if I'm wrong but I was under the impression that, much like John Rooney, the Sox actually let him walk. After the free wheeling days of Veeck The new owners wanted a tamer Carey. While negotiations were going on the Cubs ( not known for the freedom they give their broadcasters ) made him an offer he jumped on. He knew the feelings in the city about the rivalry but also knew due to super station status of WGN he could get more exposure , and go back to his National League roots ( St. Louis ). He went from face of the White Sox to number one Cubbie. He is no hero to me.
-
There was never a more entertaining broadcast team than Harry and Jimmy piersall. However Harry defected and worse he commited treason when he went to the northside. He turned into a buffoon as the years went by and the assosciation is overwhelmingly Cubs. As for the statue? The Cubs deface the whole city just by their existence so paint away boys. They deserve no respect especially the traitor Carey.

A cub fan did it to make us sox fans look like trash. We all know how jealous they are of us. A real ballpark and a world series trophy who could blame them? Besides any defacing of anything Cub can't be all bad.

They could finish anywhere from 2nd to last depending on the other teams. Toronto? Tampa- falling off? New York-geriactic ward They must improve the pitching to be taken seriously as a play off contender. Now that they got Vlad maybe the Sox could get luke Scott!

Publicly insulting any umpire is never a good idea. They stick together.

At this point in time he has to realize he is just another piece of junk on the MLB scrap heap.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 2, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) He is going to want a spot in the rotation all year. He won't get that here. He should in Cleveland. He will want to be a starter. Presented with the list of pitching free agents I think he is the best. He may get a good chance to start with the Sox as we don't know Peavey's situation and he could just plain be better than Floyd. Although I do have reservations about picking up veterans off the scrap heap. Besides if there is anyting not right with him can't Coop fix him? -

I have spent significant time in S.F. Bay area the last few winters. I see many White Sox hats and logos. I think the look attracts people in general including gang members, and rap fans, but most wearing the Sox stuff are not necessarilly White Sox or even MLB fans. Also Raider fans seem to gravitate toward the White Sox. Maybe the Sox should try to cultivate the bad boy image.
