  1. 5 games back at the break with a veteran team. Lets not read the eulogy yet. Detroit? Cleveland? Minnesota? Not exactly dynasties.
  2. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Than it should have been called the 13 plan....but it wasn't. You can't sell one thing and deliver another. Just as McDonald's can't sell you a chicken sandwich and than give you a bun with a hamburger in the middle.....the White Sox can't sell you an Ozzie plan and than deliver Gene Lamont. Sure they can.
  3. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 12:54 AM) How about making Walker the manager and they would have to get a new hitting coach. He would do both
  4. Win tomorrow and will be 5 days in a row without a loss!
  5. You know whats coming here...........If Coop couldn't fix him he must be worthless!
  6. If a change comes it will be after the season. They aren't so far behind that they can't stay "all in" the rest of the way. I wouldn't mind seeing it but I very much doubt it. A rebuild with a new manager is appropiate after one last hurrah the second half.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 08:57 AM) Yeah...driving in the city during Friday rush hour is awesome. Ain't so baad.
  8. I went to the game yesterday ( wed. afternoon 7/6 ). This team looks dead and dull. Can't put my finger on it but little enthusiasm from most players. Looking at the Sox bench almost no one there. Where were they in the clubhouse eating and drinking and watching the game on tv? K.C.'s bench was full of uniforms and seemed involved in the game. Which team looked like a last place team? What the hell happened to Rios? How did he get so bad so fast? He can't even play center very well any more. Personal issues? He is lethargic at best. I got to be thinking about a breath of fresh air at manager. Bring in a new guy let him dispose of some dead weight and light a fire.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:41 AM) How important is this 4 game series? The Twins could pass us in the standings when this series is over.
  10. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) He never had a chance - it was just the proverbial "cup of coffee", the team getting a look at him vs. big league pitching. He hit .308 with an .840 OPS. Not exactly fail. With all due respect to you I would have to say it was a fail. He did not stick because he could not field the ball, and he had too little plate discipline. Both are necessary in baseball. Did any of the players he is compared to at the top of this string ever succeed by getting sent down after breaking in?
  11. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) You should follow our prospects more closely. He has only succeeded in his only shot at the majors. He didn't succeed enough to stick now did he?
  12. Don't project the kid so high. He has no glove and he has had a shot or two at the majors already. I hope he works out well, but Pujols, Cabrerra,Gonzales? Just as possible he is Rob Deer, Or ( heaven forbid ) Adam Dunn. Let him progress. He could be A Carlos Lee.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 12:28 AM) I don't understand how these writers can be so shortsighted. Adam Dunn is owed approximately $49 million for the remainder of his contract here. But yeah, he's struggled terrible for 80 games, so let's just bench him permanently. Makes a ton of sense. These guys are absolute fools. If it were up to them, we'd have half the payroll spent on paying players in other organizations because we DFA'd them after 30 games. It has become a disposable society. I want it and I want it now.
  14. I agree with Peavey but he has not yet contributed enough to be calling the team out. Leadership is for those who answer the call every time.
  15. Radio and tv here! Ya know about two weeks ago people were b****ing about Dunn hitting .187 I posted that .175 was going to be low water mark. Where is his average now?
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) Trust me, I think you and I care more about the Cubs/Sox games than anyone else on here. Not so fast! I hope the Sox sweep the flubs and go on a tear and Ozzie ends up manager of the year. Hoping we lose is never right. Especially concerning the Cubs. Maybe those that don't live in town have forgotten how important it is to lord it over cub's fans. The team in first at the all star break seldom wins it. Last year the Sox got hot too early and were in first at the break. Then what? I believe this team is typical of mlb today. Lacking in fundamentals and much about individual performances for that next big contract. Having said that I think they can put together a hot streak to propel into the lead or right there. Since the division games are coming up, a hot streak and some sustained winning of series after could go a long way toward dropping the teams behind and pulling ahead. Lets start with a sweep of the enemy up north and keep going. Often times the emotion of that series has carried over. If the pitching stays good some of the dead spots in the lineup may wake up. ( Rios, Beckham, Dunn,Pierre ) I mean they have to have better second halves don't they? I for one see this year as kinda crazy so far. Maybe the craziest thing would be ending up on top. If not the Sox who?
  17. Nothing seems right this season so far. So maybe the usually not so good second half Sox will be good the second half. I think Cleveland and Detroit will both have bad second halves. That has also been the Tiger's trend of late and Cleveland can be overtaken. The Sox play the division teams alot in July after the break. This will tell the story. If the Twins don't get their stars back then? Why not us?
  18. If everything that has gone wrong the first half can go right the second half the Sox could still win this thing. Nothing has seemed to work out as expected. These things have a way of evening out over 162 games.
  19. I'm getting worn down by Ozzie, Hawk, Walker,Beckham,Pierre, unless the Sox catch fire the second half and win this division I'm in for the rebuild. Some new clean White Sox on the air and on the field might feel pretty good.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) When did he admit? I can't recall the date or the source. Sorry, I know that is amateurish, but I am sure I heard he admitted using with out knowing or experimenting. I'd say about two years ago. Around the same time as A-Rod. Maybe another poster can help me with this.
  21. How come Ivan Roridguez gets a pass when it comes to peds? I have heard Hawk rave about him and today the FOX announcers assured us he was a first ballot HOFer. He and A-rod are both admitted users. Let Mcguire and and Bonds in or keep these guys out.Take a fricking stand one way or the other. No selective favorite sons!
  22. The utility role is a very important one. This player plays almost as much as aregular, but at different positions. Lilli plays his best ball when fulfilling that role. Make him a regular and you lose your utuity man and diminish his success. leave him in the utility spot. Have him,Pierre,or Vizquel lead of as one of them will be in every game. 4.5 games back makes me think the Sox can win this division with a hot streak and some consistent play. Lets go Sox!
