  1. Sox would be really foolish to not take a player based on the construction of the current MLB roster. I really hope they go BPA and worry about any logjams as they occur (if at all). Plus these guys can always be used as trade bait in the same manner the Yankees traded Rutherford last year.
  2. Todd Cunningham was released from Charlotte with Rondon being sent back down. That leaves and active OF of Tilson, May, and Robbins. You could theoretically argue that RF has been opened for an Eloy promotion.
  3. Sox signed Johnny Giavotella to a minor league deal and assigned him to Birmingham of all places. That's gotta be a tough pill to swallow for a 30 yr. old. Must be desperate.
  4. I think that's a pretty valid point though. It is skewing his stats this year. I honestly don't view Davidson as being anything other than a placeholder for the Sox. I don't see them getting rid of him until someone in the system pushes him aside - which I don't think will be anytime soon.
  5. I'll go with Fry with Bummer a close second.
  6. I agree, but just to play devil's advocate - we have no clue what the Sox staff had suggested to Collins so far this season, nor Collin's willingness to listen. For all we know that old swing may also be exploitable once the league gets more looks at him (though I hope not). Could the Sox perhaps push certain guys in the system to figure out their own adjustments as part of the development process? As a sidenote: Collins' splits are pretty drastic so far this year. He's hitting .288 against RHP while only sporting a .091 BA against southpaws (though both small sample sizes). Over his entire minor league career, he's now at .251/.182 vs. RHP/LHP. So he definitely appears to be at least average matchup against RHP and the strong side of a platoon role. I could easily live with that.
  7. Saladino had TJ surgery right around August 1 in 2014. I believe he was ready for opening day. I would expect a similar timetable with Adolfo.
  8. Hopefully this isn't too big a deal. Better to give him a breather than try to play through a lost season.
  9. That was entire what I was suggesting earlier.
  10. Isn't Fisher kind of a man without a position? Why not just cut Barnum and let him try his hand at 1B? He can split time there with Basto.
  11. That was a brutal game to attend. Probably one of the worst in a while for me. Even with it being the Astros, the Sox just look off on all fronts right now. Pitching is just a disaster. I do think we should start being a little concerned about Gio right now too. He doesn't look good at all.
  12. As rough as this game has been, there are a ton of positives we all should be happy about. Moncada, Anderson, stolen bases, and 10+ runs scored. It ain't pretty but we are watching this team develop, warts and all.
  13. When Leury does crap like that... that's why I wonder why so many want him playing center everyday. He seems very messy at times in the field.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 03:58 PM) It only gets more weird man! I am 27, still feel pretty young, and now like 50% of major leaguers are younger than me! Its crazy. It's the worst. I'm 28 and got a photo next to Moncada at Soxfest this year. Needless to say, he looks like the 28 yr. old in the photo, haha.
  15. Long overdue. He was a really nice guy when I met him at Soxfest a few years back. Very fan friendly and personable. Can't wait to see Eloy in that lineup.
  16. Swaggerty or Bohm and I'd be happy. I like what I've read on both of them. Don't worry about the positions these guys play and draft the strongest player your scouts agree on. All the other stuff works itself out. Not everyone is going to have a successful major league career.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 01:35 PM) Anyone check out the graphic between Moncada's first 300 + plate appearances and Paulies? Except for whiffs, Moncada's numbers are far superior. Garden tweeted it out yesterday I believe. Moncada absolutely had the better stats (but nearly double the K's). I think it's fair to say that that could be cherry picking, but in the same token it also strongly supports the notion that people are overreacting a bit here and need to have a a little patience with the 22 year old.
  18. Gonzalez will turn 34 in May. Hard to really expect anything from a league average pitcher entering the twilight of his baseball career.
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 06:51 PM) so how bad is the sewage going to be in the visitor's clubhouse tonight? with 65k expected this is gonna be a s*** show. literally. Hahaha, totally forgot that happened. Well, 'tis the season for postponed games.
  20. Ouch. Hopefully he bounces back quickly. Man, If I'm an OF traded to the White Sox I'd be worried. Between Tilson and Cordell - talk about injuries and bad luck.
  21. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 05:32 PM) Maybe size, maybe the injury, maybe he just didn't mention him because he hasn't played? Hard to tell, but its interesting that as much as there are so many good guys at the top of the draft, they all also have something that teams may not like. Can't that be said about any prospect though? If you look hard enough you can find a flaw everywhere.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 16, 2018 -> 06:49 PM) Is it ok to hope Zavala is our future championship catcher? Everything I've heard is he pretty much all bat right now. Has trouble transitioning to throw down to 2nd and last year, and supposedly his blocking was pretty piss poor last year too.
  23. Really hoping these last 3 games allowed Moncada to clear his head. He should treat this as a fresh slate. Would be great to see him stop pressing and see some results. Those hard hit balls have to start getting through at some point.
