  1. I hope that's the case if the Sox get Singer. I don't even want to play the what-if scenario.
  2. Looks like his cousin. Fair to forget about this start.
  3. I don't think he lost his source, he mentioned today on the Red Line Radio podcast that he chooses to not leak certain information his way if he thinks it might break the deal. How much the actually gets told is another story, but I do think his source is still viable.
  4. If there was one on this board, I would think you could narrow it down based on join date, right? I doubt Hahn would have one before he took charge of the GM role.
  5. Yep. See: Colon, Bartolo. Guy hasn't thrown over 90 in almost a decade and is still miraculously carving out decent seasons.
  6. After listening to that podcast and thinking about what was said, I got a gut feeling they aren't going to go Madrigal. I feel like he *seems* to be the logical choice if all the chips fall as expected, but something tells me the Sox are going to go Singer. And I really hope it's not because Jerry/KW gave their 2 cents about needing more pitching due to Giolito and Fulmer struggles. If the draft doesn't go as expected and Mize falls to 2 or 3, I think the Sox take Bohm/Bart over Madrigal.
  7. That to me seems like he's referring to Bohm. They just drafted Burger last year, could go 3B yet again.
  8. Charlotte is showing Smith as being active on the roster with Austin now on the 7-day D.L. which is really weird considering Austin played today day. Must be a mistake, but I wonder is he is available.
  9. I've thought this myself, but he is still only 23 yrs. old. I think that's an important thing to take into consideration and a big reason why we shouldn't write him off. I still feel like there a very deep realm of possibilities for Gio because he is so young. Look at Arrieta for example. He struggled for years in Baltimore, then one day figured it out with the Cubs at 27 (I only use him as an example because he's the most recent case I can recall). I realize their stuff, etc. isn't the same, but the fact he did turn it around is what's important. Gio is not a lost cause right now. He's struggling and looks lost at this given point in time. Can the Sox fix him? Who knows, but at least they have the ability to have patience with him and try to get his development back on track. I do think he needs to be sent down to work on some things because he is not learning anything pitching only 1 inning every other start right now.
  10. I think you or myself could be better options than Gonzalez. Check out his slash line this year, or for his career for that matter. Yikes. I think he'll be replaced as soon as Smith is back.
  11. Aren't bad things supposed to happen in 3's? Clearly the Sox pissed off the baseball gods. What a dumpster fire of a season... Hope he's ok.
  12. Yep. The Garcia injury really helps them both out.
  13. Don't forget about Thompson. I think he's more likely to get the boot than Engel.
  14. Could have sworn the Sox were going to try to keep Pinto as a starter. Guess that experiment ended quickly.
  15. Well, he certainly can't be much worse, right?
  16. I think Stephens is going to wind up being that surprise prospect that ends up in the starting rotation. He's been looking really good so far.
  17. This seems like an insurance signing if Avi/Delmonico aren't ready to return mid/late-June. Although Eloy really does belong in Charlotte now. Kid has nothing left to prove in Birmingham.
  18. Good post. I wonder if Giolito or Fulmer's terrible starts have done anything to the Sox brass regarding Kopech? Obviously he still needs to improve upon some things still, so it doesn't hurt to keep him down a little longer, but I wonder if the Sox would have pushed him a little more aggressively if say one of Giolito or Fulmer were pitching closer to an 4.25 ERA. Maybe it's easier for an organization to develop players across multiple platforms as opposed to putting all that pressure on one particular staff?
  19. I think we see the same route with Abreu as we did with Konerko. He's good for Moncada at the moment, and there really isn't anyone pushing him aside at 1B, unless we all think Davidson is the answer there for when the Sox are theoretically contending in 2020. Eloy belongs in the OF until he proves he doesn't belong out there. Talk of shoehorning him into DH at age 21 is a little ridiculous. If the Sox can play Delmonico in LF, they sure as hell can start Eloy there.
  20. Nevermind then... My mistake.
  21. Not to take away from Cooper, but Matt Zaleski does receive some praise down in Charlotte. Perhaps he can right the ship.
  22. He left them no choice. Just look at his stat line on the year. He needs to work on his mechanics against competition that he might actually stand a chance against.
  23. You have to wonder how the Sox handle both him and Giolito. You can't keep handing games away and failing to at least go 5 innings 2/5 starts. How can they arguably send Fulmer down when Giolito has been just as bad if not worse at times? I'm all for letting them work through the growing pains, but both these guys need a confidence boost at Charlotte IMO. Fulmer definitely doesn't seem to have what it takes to be a MLB starter with the way he has been the last few starts.
  24. Adding to this - I think the Sox decide against a full tear-down rebuild if the LaRoche and Sale fiascos never happen. I think both incidents opened their eyes to just how bad the clubhouse culture and team chemistry was in 2016.
  25. Madrigal or bust for me. I think he's the best option for the Sox. People need to not worry so much about where he will play. If it even comes to that, you worry about it when the time comes or you have a really great trade chip to use and get that final piece. He could end up being the Sox version of Gleybar Torres. Can't worry about it until it happens. Plus we don't know where Anderson or Moncada or Sanchez or any of the other top 10 prospects will be developmental wise in 2-3 years.
