There’s probably more people than we’d expect to take a chance as a GM for a pro ball team regardless of the situation. I don’t think you can say Getz is better than Hahn yet. Different? Yes. But better? I need to see more from him. He was not even qualified for the job IMO, but Jerry wanted a singular yes man and he got it. The biggest question is whether he can learn to operate in the restrictions that Jerry puts on him - something Hahn could never learn to do.

The difference with a prospect getting hurt is you aren't depending on that prospect to be a difference maker immediately, nor are you depending on them to be used as trade bait. Eh, I disagree. Glasnow is set to make $25M compared to Cease's estimated $8.3M. Glasnow also has a massive injury history that Cease does not.

No. More like a lack of desperation by the teams that fit the best return the Sox are looking to receive. Baltimore prospect hugged at the deadline and it blew up in their faces. So far they are doing it again. If LA doesn’t feel the need to make a competitive offer after acquiring Glasnow, then that isn’t going to sway Baltimore to suddenly change tune.

Getz is definitely going to end up as Jerry’s favorite GM. I can’t help but wonder just how low the budget is that Getz has to work with. Really feels like there is a significant slash in payroll looking at the low salaries brought in so far.

This team as currently constructed will be lucky to score 3+ runs a game. And once Cease is traded, they’ll have one of the worst rotations in all of baseball. Not saying Getz hasn’t cleaned anything up, but let’s not trick ourselves into thinking this team is going to be rolling over their opponents. I really don’t see how this team escapes losing 90+ losses barring some spending on legitimate FA.
