  1. Totally agree, but that's a lot of 40-man spots needed. Struggling to find logic of cutting any additional position players on it for washed up vets.
  2. Hopefully good enough to traded. It would be nice to get something for him before the inevitable buyout.
  3. I think this definitely becomes more and more apparent each day. Idk if Getz is going to be deemed “good” when it’s all said and done but the guy sticks to his guns and convictions and at least has a vision for what the team should be.
  4. I was referring to his defense. Last year graded terrible. I think it’s more likely his defense bounces back than Yaz’s bat.
  5. Both are bad, but Maldonado hasn’t had his complete lower half breakdown on him. Remember, Yaz admitted to not having feeling in his legs at points while running the bases. Maldonado is more likely to have some sort of resurgence for a half than Yaz IMO. Plus there’s a history of pitchers who truly enjoy throwing to him. Can’t say that about Yaz.
  6. Couldn’t agree more. Unfortunately it’s 2024 and every talking point must become an extreme black and white argument where the person who shouts the loudest is correct.
  7. Still different situation though. Buehrle and Danks weren’t Boras clients. Boras simply doesn’t operate in that manner (except for extreme cases).
  8. Or maybe the fact there is ZERO chance the Sox would even sniff the asking price. Unless someone knows Cease is just dying to sign a 4/$50M year deal loaded with the Jerry Incentives Clause. It aint happening, the Sox don't hand out long term deals to good starting pitching.
  9. Both Martin and Foster will likely hit the 60-day IL coming back from TJ. That will help add two more guys.

It’s kind of relieving that there are zero expectations. Even the losses, they can’t pick earlier than 10 next year so you don’t even have to stress on that side of things either. Literally just watch baseball and hope to see improvement and prospects succeed.
  11. If they are able to pull it all off, there certainly will be plenty of options. I just hope it’s consistent and runs smoothly.
  12. I mean sure, but it’s still more of an inconvenience to have to depend on that. I’ll figure it out, as it’s not going to be something that makes me scream at the clouds where I won’t go, but it certainly adds to commute time and planning when going to a game. Honestly my best option would probably be Ogilvie and then hopefully a water taxi to the park, assuming they put a pickup spot there.
  13. Exactly. There won’t be a perfect solution. I’m very in favor this project happening, but I won’t lie that depending on public transport is not exactly trilling to me. I enjoy having personal freedom of driving on my own. Hopefully there will be some type of option for everyone.
  14. I think it’s a legitimate thing to consider. I drive in for games currently (about 45 min to 1 hr) and I’ve definitely thought about what I’d do. I go to games with my father who requires handicap parking because he has trouble walking with diabetes and his heart, but is not immobile. I’m not entirely sure how I’d get him there if the only options are public transit. I’m not gonna sit there and cry about it, but it certainly makes it tougher.
  15. Totally agree. It becomes a part of the neighborhood.
  16. Shewmake is the only real competition for Sosa for the backup spot. Sosa doesn't really have much more to prove in the minors IMO. Not sure he will ever be a legitimate starter option, but a weak side platoon, backup IF is still valuable.
  17. Was just about to post this, I think this looks very nice.
  18. Important to remember too that any NRI added is going to require someone gets cut. Always an uphill battle for those guys, and even if some guys on the 40-man are meh to us, teams don’t exactly like to throw guys out if they can stash the NRI in AAA for a bit. Barlow seems likely IMO, especially with the closer role wide open.
  19. They technically could still bring him in for 2B, with Lopez being the backup IF and Sosa going to Charlotte. Although, I don't think they really have the payroll wiggle room to bring him in.
  20. Can’t help but wonder what the offers may have been from the Reds or Dodgers (if it even got to that point).
  21. Mena could be a middle of the rotation option and was expected to make his debut at some point this upcoming season. He's only 20 too. He did have some control issues in Charlotte, but he is quite young for the league. His calling card was his breaking ball, so maybe the Sox don't think he can be an option for the rotation with a mediocre fastball? Just seems odd to trade one of your top 10 prospects for a 5'9" glove-first RF option.
  22. This is the only explanation. It has to be. I don't quite understand trading someone so young unless they clearly see something that is not fixable or won't play in the upper levels.
  23. This is honestly a good deal for both sides. Sox could use a little extra cash in the draft and Berroa and DeLoach are not throw-ins. I really like Santos, but its hard to argue keeping a good reliever (who showed warning signs of injury) on a 100 loss team.
  24. Duvall also probably doesn't want to come here. He's still relatively good, and undoubtedly has a much bigger market and competition. Pillar is hanging onto the last chance to stay in the majors, and likely jumped at the chance to be a starter somewhere.
