  1. Ozzie wants to be managing again - he might just take them up on it. Problem is his style of managing doesn't work in today's game. Literally no other team has given him a second chance. Regardless, he isn't the answer, it would be another JR smoke and mirrors show living off of past success to draw fans in.
  2. The funny thing is... we rant how terrible the Royals organization is, yet they've been more successful than the Sox have since 2005. It's shocking how bad the Sox organization has been.
  3. Three straight (young) players traded for cash. "Depth" has thinned rather quickly.
  4. Santander is too good to end up on the Sox. He'll have offers from other teams that will blow the Sox out of the water.
  5. This is really all there is to it. It’s not like there’s a line of FA pitchers that are banging down to door to come here. He’s a sacrificial arm to eat the innings you aren’t gonna get with Crochet, Soroka, and Flexen.
  6. I'm honestly surprised they managed to keep everyone they brought in on NRI's. The only guy cut was Lucius Fox and he wasn't even a NRI for big league camp.
  7. Certainly would have made more sense for him over Shaw, but this foolish FO thinks they are trying to win something this year.
  8. When the same person talks up a good game, preaches playing smart and hard, and completely gets the opposite results? No, not being to hard. Pedro doesn't have what it takes to be a major league manager. I'd be shocked if we ever see him manage a team again after his Sox tenure eventually ends.
  9. Thanks, I honestly don't know why it doesn't work anymore for me and I have no idea how to manually do it.
  10. Sounds like AA https://x.com/JamesFox917/status/1772771240102543718?s=20

    FWIW, league minimum is $740K.
  12. Well, one technically did - Guardians waived Straw.
  13. I honestly expect around a .200-220 AVG with around 15 HR’s from him. He’s not good anymore but I think playing in Sox Park is gonna help him.
  14. The one thing going for us is that there are already a lot of 40-man roster spots that will be needed if Leasure, Nastrini, Thorpe, Mendick, and Pillar all make the team. I don't think we have to worry too much about Moose taking up a spot.
  15. Greinke isn't a normal guy though. He's really an oddball, and not desperate enough or the type of player to sign with anyone to just get a job.
  16. Greinke does not like Chicago.
  17. The sad thing is Lorenzen is probably a better hitter than the 7-8-9 part of the lineup.
  18. I'll give it a B, but on the lower side. It certainly strengthened the system, but the lack of a true can't miss type prospect is a bit worrisome. Despite how much I like them, I guess I'm not very convinced the Sox will actually be able to develop the toolsy Zavala and Iriarte to make all that much of a difference.
  19. Yep. He is also ranked 56 on Baseball America, and 73 on Fangraphs. Both higher than where MLB Pipeline have him. He is a good get.
  20. Zavala being included makes this much more bearable.
  21. They'll never sign a pitcher worth a damn to the type of deals being given out this offseason.
  22. He hasn't been very good, but perhaps Bannister sees something? If you could get him as a second piece, it wouldn't be the worst strategy if no one else is matching your initial ask. I'm not over thrilled with him, but he was a top draft prospect not very long ago.
  23. I think the idea is you're buying low on a guy who was the #2 pick. Porter certainly has reliever risk, but also mid-rotation upside if they think they can get him to develop some control. The sweeper he added is supposedly a decent weapon.
