Sox claim Javy Guerra
I just came to this thread to ask if anyone knew why Guerra wasn't listed yet on the 40-man... now I know.

The K Zone
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 27, 2014 -> 08:23 AM) K-zone sounds pretty cool, but why do I feel like I will try and buy seats there for when Sale pitches and fail every time. Fail as in you will walk up to the ticket booth and ask for that section and it will be sold out... or fail as in you will buy tickets thinking you are in the K-Zone, but end up in the next section with a frown face.

The K Zone
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 10:19 PM) It sucks someone had to place all those hundreds of signs out there just for a few minutes, and then collect them all again. You've never worked on a photoshoot, have you?

Sox claim Javy Guerra
Classic "change of scenery" guy. Hasn't been the same since he was hit with a liner in 2012. Has health issues. Sinker/slider guy will fit nicely with the Hahn-era bullpen philosophy. As a Dodgers fan, i am sad to see him go for nothing. As a Sox fan, I am glad to see him here for nothing!

Starting Rotation
QUOTE (peppers312 @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 02:33 PM) Robin Ventura has confirmed the rotation to start the season: Chris Sale, Felipe Paulino, Jose Quintana, Erik Johnson, John Danks. i really hope this is in no particular order because Paulino doesn't belong in the #2 spot. Break up the potential for a team to face 3 of the Sox lefthanded starters in a series. If you stack the rotation based on skill, Sale, Quintana, and Danks are 1-2-3.

Tyler Flowers is your 2014 starting catcher
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) This just isn't true though. While Quintana has put up better ERA numbers than Buehrle did, he also pitched in a much more potent offensive environment. Buehrle was putting up ERA-'s (league adjusted) for numbers in the 70-85 range and FIP-'s in the 80-90 range. Quintana has been at 89 and 85 for ERA- and 99 and 93 for FIP-. That isn't to say Quintana couldn't get there, but Buehrle was a pretty incredible pitcher for a long time for the White Sox. He is a really similar pitcher to Buehrle though. Doesn't have great, great stuff but does have some pop on the fastball and he shows enough with his other pitches to throw hitters off. Yea, I was probably a little overzealous with my wording. All I was saying is: 1) Quintana is a #2 2) The front office replaced Buehrle with 2 outstanding lefthanded starters 3) We should rejoice in both #1 and #2

Tyler Flowers is your 2014 starting catcher
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 01:00 PM) I'm not the only one in this thread that isn't sure that Quintana is a #2 on a playoff team. And that simply means that you aren't alone in your wrong-ness.

Tyler Flowers is your 2014 starting catcher
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) I don't know that Quintana is a #2 on a playoff team. bolded above = plausible deniability. If that's the case, the only time in his career that MARK BUEHRLE was any thing more than "a #2 starter" was in 2001 and in 2007. 2013 Jose Quintana >>>>>> every year of Buehrle's career EXCEPT 2001 and in 2007. Everyone LOVES Mark Buehrle, including me. But somehow the year the Sox let him walk, they backfill the rotation with not one, but TWO lefthanded starting pitchers that ARE better than Buerhle - with both having ceilings to be even better than they currently are. Go Sox.

Jacob Turner
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 20, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ Multiple outlets are reporting that the Marlins are talking about trading RHP Jacob Turner due to their pitching depth. Would anyone here deal Viciedo for Turner? Turner is arbitration eligible in 2015 and doesn't hit free agency until 2018. The Diamondbacks are one team linked to Turner in talks with the Fish. Who is anyone referring to? If its anyone except the White Sox, the answer is no.

ST: 3/19 vs Angels
Gimenez just punched his ticket to AAA. Why throw to second on a stolen base attempt with a man on thrid and less than two outs? #ugh

Sox vs. Giants 3/12
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) In the regular season, yes. In Spring Training, who cares. It is all about getting your work in. In Garcia's defense, the pitch was a BP fastball down the middle. Which, apparantly, is overpowering for him.

Sox vs. Giants 3/12
Lincecum, 3 pitches, 3 groundouts. #FIRESTEVERSON

Sox vs. Giants 3/12
He's coming back from major surgery (well, surgeries) so its likely going to take him a while to get back to form after not pitching for close to 2 years. Didn't the Sox say when they signed him that he likely wouldn't start the season in the rotation and they were "hoping he'd be ready by May"? Maybe I'm mistaken (as I often am).

Quintana set to start again on THUR
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 02:18 PM) Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 50m Big day for #WhiteSox tomorrow on pitching front: Coop hopes to get 4 innings, 60 pitches out of Quintana. Belisario also debuts. I pitty the catcher that will be behind the plate.

For those that did the last sox survey, check your email......
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 09:45 AM) I tried it on the Sox ticket site because I know if I was designing a site I would totally put that in there. Unfortunately the Sox webmaster is not as cool as me. How do we partake in these surveys ewok? Survey's over, right??

Who is Your Favorite Sox Player Playing for Other Team?
In all honesty, Chris Sale makes life without Mark Buehrle a lot easier to endure. Imagine if the Sox had a legit lefthanded hitting catcher that finished in the top-5 in MVP voting... AJ who?
-
Who is Your Favorite non-Sox Player
Since the OP asked "Who is your favorite player" and not "Please post a long list of players that no poster will actually read through" I'll stick with one. Clayton Kershaw.

Mr. Sale in The New York Times
There isn't any tone from the White Sox in this article suggesting they "got a deal" on Sale's contract. Just says that Hahn asked for a "Hershel Walker" return when other GMs asked about Sale. *shrug*

Help - MLB TV Subscription Cancellation
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 11:43 PM) I had a similar issue a year or two ago and sent an email to customer support and they cleared it up no problem. Yes, calling and speaking with a live human helps. I did this very same thing. Cancelling is easy, just need a human to do it.
