103 degrees at 3pm in Louisville, though just as I started complaining I noticed that it's 109 in Bowling Green.

Without taking time to look it up and crunch all the numbers, it looks as though Peavy and Floyd may have more career IP than the other 10 combined.

I was going to mention that Quintana should have a good chance given all the lefties the Yankees have in their lineup, but I checked the Yankees splits and their OPS vs HLP is only 12 points worse than vs RHP.
-
And if that's the case, then why aren't they calling up Dan Johnson?

Either (A) Crain is going on DL or (B) Humber will be back to take what would be Axelrod's next start, so they are just getting an extra reliever for 4 games since neither Humber nor Axelrod can pitch during that time.

MLBN schedule for July is out. Sox are the primary game twice: Thursday 7/19 at Boston and Saturday 7/28 at Texas. The team the Sox beat last night are only on MLBN seven times in July, and they even go one stretch of 13 whole days without appearing on MLBN. Will the network be able to avoid bankrupcy with the almost-certain ratings crash they will suffer during that 13-day span?

He wasn't even supposed to be the DH for more than the first month or so. When Frank came back from injury, Carl was supposed to be the 4th OF, but then Frank got hurt again.

I'd rather the late afternoon games get over earlier. I like having some time between the end of the late afternoon games and the kickoff of the Sunday night game to get highlights and analysis on NBC Football Night in America. There are a lot of times when the Bears have an early Sunday game, and I'm switching back and forth between NBC and CBS/FOX, trying to see the end of an exciting game while also trying to see what the guys at NBC are saying about the Bears.

The two things that killed Jan 1 for me are: (1) No longer multiple games in every timeslot. Used to be able to flip channels and see constant football action for 12 hours without ever seeing a single commercial (2) All the best teams no longer playing on Jan 1. The top 6 teams now play AFTER Jan 1. Since I know that I'm never going to get these things back, I guess the best compromise is: Play the semifinals in primetime on the 1st and 2nd. Allow multiple games in the middle timeslot on the 1st. -
Official temp down here yesterday was 103, which was an all-time record for June. My car was registering 105 on the way home from work.

Cliff Notes to the decision: 4 justices said that the entire law was constitutional just because Democrats passed it. 4 justices said that the entire law was unconstitutional just because Democrats passed it. Roberts actually read the law and the constitution and determined which parts were and weren't OK.

Top 3 in the AL Central put a beatdown on the mighty AL East last night.

Andruw Jones contributed quite a bit, especially compared to what he was making.

And apparently, Robin never ordered a replacement copy of that manual.

I almost woke the kids up when Tank hit that bomb last night.

How did this get to be a 100+ post thread? Q: Why is Dan Johnson still at Charlotte? A: Because the Sox have yet to relocate their AAA team to Grand Rapids. /thread

Already 96 down here at 1pm.

Anybody buy the theory that the "losing" side in this decision will actually get a boost in November?

I'm glad the Sox showed interest, but I'm also glad they didn't sink $40M into somebody who is far from a sure thing.

In rounds before the finals, you seriously handicap the winning team if you force them to play on and on until somebody wins. In the finals, I'm all in favor of playing on and on until somebody wins. -
That's how I understand it, though I can't say that all my years of undergraduate and graduate math courses adequately prepared me to interpret SC decisions.

So it's unconstitutional to require people to purchase health insurance, but it's constitutional to levy a tax on people who choose to not do so? Sounds like a loophole, albeit a legal one. Kinda like how congress couldn't force states to have a 55mph speed limit, but could withhold highway funding to those who didn't.
-
What exactly does that mean?
-
Waiting until late June doesn't prevent losing a year of control. You still get 6 years of control. Waiting until late June assures that only three of those years are arb years instead of four.

This is the biggest problem with the current system. If LSU and Alabama had been in separate divisions of the SEC, they would have had to play their second game in the SEC championship, and the loser of that game probably doesn't finish in the Top 2. The playoff alleviates that some, because it's harder for the #5 team to say they deserve a spot over Alabama than it is for the #3 team.
