I wonder if the Hawks would actually consider dealing Huet and re-signing Khabibulin if they could right now? Theodore hasn't been good for the Caps, so I wonder if they would take Cristobal back?
-
Well Orlando is 8-3 now, and just going along with their business nicely. Pietrus has proved to be a solid addition, and the Magic still easily beat the Raps last night with Redick playing 30+ minutes. Would still like another backup big who's an upgrade on Foyle and can actually spell Dwight, but the Magic are up against the tax.
-
Saw this in a Rotoworld FA Hitters preview; He could be an excellent backup for the 1B/OF spots. Wonder how much he'll be after?
-
Sox could be after DeJesus right now, as that leadoff option who could play CF. What's he like defensively in CF again? Think the Red Sox have done pretty well here. Don't really get what Moore is trying to achieve but acquiring all of these hitters, but maybe he has some sort of plan. But the Royals is much weaker right now than what it was in 2008, and that should be a big concern for them.

Ok, I'm never getting the water from Arby's after hearing that story.

QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) DUDE! I wouldnt feed Arbys to an animal. All signs point to yes.... EDIT: My David Puddy picture ain't workin.

QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 02:08 PM) Oh,so your telling me an aussie knows more about the geography of this country than I do. Yep. (Well I have actually been there before). Arizona in March sounds great though (weather wise).

Nice, I may have to get my ass out to Peoria come March to see some ST action.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 10:50 AM) Already has. The security corridor is recognized by many navies, including the US. But much like Iraq still has terrorists, it doesn't get cured over night. Well my point is it's such an important trade route, that piracy really shouldn't be happening anywhere in that region. You would think that stopping piracy would be easier than stopping terrorism though.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) Rose and it's not even close. Mayo has been scoring, as has Fernandez, but Rose has been no slouch in scoring either while leading an offense and amassing a decent amount of assists. Well Mayo is averaging more points than Rose, and argubly runs their offense also considering how bad Mike Conley has been thus far. Still his A/TO ratio certainly needs work. I think Rose is just on top, but I think Mayo could certainly win when it's all said and done.

I'd still like to target a real good LOOGY such as Reyes. If we are able to dump MacDougal on someone (doubtful), then there's some more $$$ to play around with there. Don't really trust Logan that much anymore to be honest.

Where's Jack Sparrow when you need him. It's a developing issue and one that needs greater attention. Doubt it will get it though.

Right now does Rose, Mayo or Fernandez win ROY?

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) I am getting so sick of the "it opened up a spot for Floyd or Danks" comment about Garland. That's completely hindsight and could've been applied if Garland was released eating his entire salary which wouldn't be fair to say either. Couldn't I say the trade of Garland allowed us to suffer from Javy all season long, or that we could've had someone step in Contreras' spot and not force our guys to go on short rest for so long (could possibly effect them for next season.) "Opening a spot" without hindsight would be something like a Liriano situation where he is dominating and is blocked. Danks and Floyd were coming off of 5+ era seasons. Also, if it's true that the Sox aren't planning to offer Cabrera arbitration, I hope there's a filter that wipes out anytime some posts "player X is a type A free agent so that's two picks we'll get back." Where have you heard that news from FWIW?

More stuff;

Found this little blurb from a Cards' Blog about him; It's safe to say though, that Cards' fans weren't happy with what he did at the MLB level however;

QUOTE (Raf @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 02:15 PM) Wow. The analysis is spot on. The Sox DID sell shockingly low on Swisher, AND gave up the best pitcher in the deal on top of everything. The chances of Swisher rebounding are much better than any of these former Yankee scrubs ever amounting to anything. There's a reason why South Side Sox is regularly linked to by other, respected publications. It's a great site with extensive analysis and scouting predictions, which is more than I can say about Sox Talk. I'm sure I will be kicked off now, so I will leave you all to bicker amongst yourselves. This I don't agree with at all. The Sox will teach Marquez a cutter I would have thought, and with the impact it's had one some of the pitchers we've had (Danks and Loaiza to name a couple), who knows what that will possibly do to Marquez's numbers as a whole. Also I don't know you can definitely classify Teixeira as a better relief prospect than Nunez, by hey, that's just me.

Things that stick out; Escobar at 10 - Bit of a surprise I would have thought. Highly rated with BA than others perhaps? Ely at 8 - Personally I like other SP's in our system such as Upchurch and Hudson, although you give the latter 2 another season and my guess is they'll definitely be on here. Lack of impact pitchers - Poreda's really the only one you would think ATM that could definitely contribute something good at the major league level. Something that the Sox need to address at the next draft I think (although they have been pitcher heavy over the past 4-5 years, and don't really have much to show for it).

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) In my view Memphis has been one of the biggest offenders of late, they clearly have no intention of winning games any time soon. Boston in the pre-KG year was pretty bad as well, it was nice to see neither of them get the pick they wanted. They really need the lottery in the NBA a lot more than in the other sports because one bonafide superstar can have a massive impact on their win total and players tend to produce far earlier. It'd be chaos without it, just imagine what would have happened in the Lebron year or how much worse it would have been the last two seasons. On a side note, how mediocre does the 2007 draft look so far? It was theoretically supposed to be one for the ages, but Oden has barely seen the floor and will need time to shake off the rust, Durant is virtually just throwing up points in garbage time every game, and arguably the most productive player in the draft so far is a 10-9 big in Al Horford, with two late-lotto guys in Young and Hawes being in the team picture. Just think now if Boston hadn't of ended up with the #5 pick and got Durant or Oden instead, they wouldn't of traded for KG or Allen I would have thought (well probably not Allen, KG still a distinct possibility), and they probably don't end up winning the championship last season.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 12:46 PM) But they are giving up a bad contract in exchange. I don't think Detroit is going to be in any position to add money. I was just using Detroit as an example though. If Lugo is traded to them, that's 1 less SS option on the market thru FA or a trade though, which is probably a good thing from OC's perspective. I imagine he may wait until Furcal signs with somebody also.
-
If Detroit is willing to trade for Lugo (albeit dumping a bad contract in the process), some team will give Cabrera a good enough offer so the Sox will have to offer him arbitration I would have thought.

I read something this morning which indicated Giuliani was either going to run again in 2012, or go for Eliot Spitzer's old job of Governor of NY (which is now held by Democrat David Paterson).

QUOTE (False Alarm @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) from peter gammons' blog 11/15/08 (this is secondhand btw so i ain't positive it's a direct quote): interesting if true. Hmmm, maybe they are serious about a Getz / Nix platoon, and then have Beckham come up after all. If that scenario does evantuate, KW could really be going after a big time CF such as Beltran after all.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) The Steelers' offensive line is actually pretty atrocious. No doubt, which probably explains how the Chargers went from having 1 or 2 sacks before this game, to having 3 in the 1st half. It's too bad for the Steelers, because it's the 1 thing that's missing from taking that team to the next level. They really need to draft an OT come the draft.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) There's no question that we need an NBA Lottery... it's great. I think it's an excellent system also. Otherwise you'd have teams down the bottom "tanking", so they end up with the #1 pick. Okalahoma need a LOT of pieces though. An actual decent big man would help to put next to Durant, Green and Westbrook.
