J.P. Lossman out
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) "Loss"man. That's semi-witty. LOL. Really it's hard to expect a QB to come in even in his 2nd year and put up great numbers straight away. Look at Carson Palmer. He struggled early in his 1st season of starting (2nd year), and Cinci fans were calling for Jon Kitna to start. But look at Palmer now. A bit of short - term pain for long - term game.

Blackhawks Are Back!!
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) I wrote this team off back in 1998 dude. I know that, and you're the biggest pessimist for the Hawks around here, but you gotta admit they at least did a good job in the off-season. As for the PP, when Spacek comes back, I think that'll be a lot better, with him and Aucoin on the point. Special Teams are going to be really crucial this season though.

How'd u celebrate when Gooch went yard?
My Dad was working on his laptop on the desk next to me, so I didn't want to shout that loud. But he can over and saw what the fuss was anyways. But usually when something big happens, it's always the fist pump for me.

The "New" NHL
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) It was great to see Ottawa win, but for the Canes, Gerber really disappointed me. He was shaky all pre-season. I think they need to start Cam the next game. But then again, maybe Gerber needs a second chance. I guess I shall soon see. Does anyone know if Irbe is still net minding anywhere in the NHL? Wasn't Irbe last with Columbus? But they've got LeClaire and Denis now right?

Jenks' curveball
I just posted about this in another thread. Bobby's mechanics were a little out of whack at a couple of points last night. But the good news, that 1st playoff game is out of the way, and hopefully he can settle down and be exactly like the pitcher we saw when he 1st came up. At least he got the job done though. Of course my motto's been for the majority of the season, don't care how you look, don't care if you win 1-0, just win damnit.

Chicago @ Boston - ALDS Game 3
Ok so my game by game analysis on the pitchers continues. Freddy Garcia vs. Tim Wakefield. First Garcia. Perfect man to be pitching in game 3 for us here. He's 6-2 in his career against the Sox. 10-3 in away games this year, with a 3.40 ERA and a 79/22 K/BB ratio. Didn't face Boston at all this year though. Post All - Star he hasn't been as good. Why? Well in 22 less IP, he's given up the same amount of HR's and hits (1 less) as Pre ASG. So that BAA has increased from .241 to .279. So not giving up the long ball (8 in July, then 4,4) will be a big key for him. And of course the start of the game, it's crucial that he puts up 0's on the board. 4.18 ERA from 0-15 (.333 BAA), and 7.11 ERA from 16-30. He's given up 11 HR's in those pitch counts as well. Now Wakefield. The bad news, he's better at home and at day games too. But the good news, given up 9 more HR post ASG. As previously stated in 2 games against us this season 1-1 with a 6.57 ERA. 5 HR's in those 2 games as well, so we can certainly go for the long-ball against him. Now he's a pretty good pitcher with runners on and in SP (compared to the likes of Wells and even Garcia), but his ERA with no-one on is higher than those guys. And he's not a very good starter either. So I actually think this will be quite a low scoring game. Both pitchers are in favorable situations, pitching to their strengths. I think we'll see our offense once again come majorly from the long ball. The key is for us, we need to have runners on when that's the case, and not let it be solo shots. Whoever jumps out to the early lead, will be really big in this game, because both pitchers are pretty good in the middle innings.

Clutch hitting
In my post before the game in the game thread last night, I stated that Wells's splits with runners on and runners in scoring position were really terrible. All you have to do, is actually get runners on because he hardly walks anyone. And sure we had some luck, but we got to him in those situations eventually. And hitting with RISP was always going to be the key with this offense. You know that we'll sacrifice quite a bit to get guys in SP, we just need to come up with the hits to bring them in, and so far, you can't complain with the execution we've seen by our hitters so far.

TomKat expecting
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 12:08 AM) Wish I could take credit for that, but alas, it's ripped from the tabloid pages. Well I guess if you thought about it for a while you could easily come up with something better.

Quick thought on Ozzie
Anyone else think we didn't see the best of Bobby last night at all? I know he's been struggling as of late, and he was throwing a lot of those fastballs high and away last night. Not having a go at him, because he still got the job done, and for a rookie in his 1st season in a high pressure situation, that's fantastic, but Bobby can be better, he can get that curve over in the strike zone more, and he can get that fastball in on the hitters more.

Interesting possibility
I think San Diego's GM Kevin Towers is going to end up with that job. Apparently him and Sandy Alderson haven't really seen eye to eye.

And I just imagine Tom saying to the child "Help me ......., Help me, Help You. Help Me, Help You". Nice name for the couple too Soxy.

Curry Traded
QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) It is believed he will sign resign for one year at the mle with the blazers because that is all they have to spend next off-season. The two off-season from now lock him up long term. He really like portland for whatever reason. Probably because they actually gave him a chance.

Curry Traded
QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) Mle... lol. He will get a huge contract after this upcoming season. Probably, but the T-Wolves could work a sign and trade with Wally Scerbiak. Anyways, since Joel's a Minny boy, he's most likely to head back there at this stage.

Another Manager Bites The Dust...
Macha and Beane were at loggerheads anyways.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) Nazr mohammod. Joel pryzibiila. Nene hilario. One of those three will be a bull next off-season. Pryzibilla's pretty much a lock to head to Minnesota for their MLE, once the Kandi Man's deal runs out. The other 2 I could see happening though, although teams like Atlanta etc. will also be interested.

AND THATS A MOTHER F'IN WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) And now...the best road team in baseball will go...on the road. With quite possibly the best road pitcher in baseball starting.

I think Mark's going to go another inning. He's only thrown 84 pitches so far.

Boston @ Chicago - ALDS Game 2
Wells has thrown 7 more pitches than Burehle now. 76 to 69.
