  1. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) i have to however a bunch of people on this board wanted him gone. Please don't tell me you are serious about that last comment though. And they are...... Have a look at the threads, most people backed Contreras (except for the Oakland series where he gave up 8BB's in about 5IP) because he had an amazing .BAA, a good ERA, and he should have won a lot more games if he had better run support.
  2. Yeah Dye's been at 6 for the majority of the year, yet he's been in our top hitters probabaly after the bad start. He only has about 80K's as well, so he's not doing badly on that regard.
  3. Yep. It's all of your fault. All of YOU. Me and Rowand backed him in though.
  4. Teahen just got a homer. It's 6-6 now, bottom of the 8th.
  5. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) good win but 1 3run HR all we get in game NOT a turnaround by any stretch Doesn't matter, a win's still a win, whether you score 20 or 1.
  6. Jose f***ing Contreras. And JD's 3 run homer.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) So many blown opportunities, you just hope it won't come back to haunt us in the 9th. With Minny's Offense, I'd doubt it, but we just need to pick up the win real bad. JC still on fire as usual I see, and those damn Indians winnin in a close one 6-5.
  8. Sorry guys, I've been waiting to see if other guys who played last year were joining again. I'll have PM's sent out to both of ya's by the end of the day.
  9. Can I just say, I've never seen a manager gone from getting numerous praises around the league and being considered a shoe - in for AL Manager of the Year, to one that the majority of his fan base wants fired. Quite a fall from grace.
  10. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) Pods can't play CF any better than he does left. Maybe worse. Pods is a Paul Molitor/DH-type of player. Well then he shouldn't be in the lineup at all. The problem is, we don't have a good starting lead-off guy to replace him. That's why I'd say Rowand would get moved before him, even though he's a MUCH better defensive player. Just my $0.02.
  11. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) I understand the frustration but team batting average doesn't really tell the whole story. Last year Minnesota had a .266 team average and did ok. This year Tampa Bay is at .274 and Detroit is at .272, I don't see them bragging about it. As for Cleveland, they hit .276 last year and still finished in 3rd place. Their pitching being tops in the AL probably has more to do with it. Especially after how bad they were at the start of the season, when the likes of Victor Martinez and Aaron Boone were hitting below .200. Bet they were happy with their offense then!!!
  12. It seems from my viewpoint there's a collective hatred towards Ozzie which is really gaining momentum. I've said it once, I'll say it again. KW should NOT be fired for this. KW's just gotta weigh up in the improvements he's made to this team from hiring Ozzie from the looser clubhouse etc. are worth the mistakes he's making in terms of handling a pitching staff, and playing "his" guys.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) Wow, after looking at his .239 average for Hank, I guess I still have 2003-2004 Blalock in my mind. 5 HR's on the road? Yeah, it's just real hard to find a good, consistent third baseman, age/splits/stats wise.
  14. Palehose, is Wright going to start off the year in the Development League? Should be interesting to see how that plays out, with 4 teams being alloted to 1 team, in terms of who gets the most playing time etc.
  15. What are the numbers for Pre and Post All Star Break Numbers for the Offense?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:46 AM) Alright, so then let me take a a piece of your idea.... Garland, Marte, and Crede for Mench and Hank. Hmmm, I still think we're overpaying just slightly in that. Hank scares me, his AWAY splits from Tex have been BRUTAL this season, and he's lost a lot of his power recently. Mench would be a good get though for LF.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) Could a deal that sends Buerhrle, Marte and Tracey to Texas land us Tex? Tex is a Bora$$ client. No way KW would trade for him.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:29 AM) Another solution would be to get some power hitters with decent plate discipline =) Easier said than done. Brian Giles would be PERFECT under that mentality.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) I really think if the Sox miss out on the playoffs, one of Buehrle, Garcia or Garland is going to get shipped off. What do you think we'd get in return, and what is the greatest need / position that needs filling right now?

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) The only way Ozzie goes is if he resigns, way to much dough to eat for a firing. Leyland I think gets the job. I would pay for Lou but that would make to much sense as he knows how to run a pitching staff. If Ozzie goes does his relative (Garcia) get moved for the bat we need, Tex or Blaylock? If the Sox want Leyland, they better act fast. He could get the Pirates job (Ken Macha wants it bad though) or with Detroit if they fire Trammell.
  21. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) There's a promising 3B in the DBacks system named Brian Barden. He's currently not protected. Glaus is blocking him, and I don't know if he can play any other infield positions. DH obviously isn't an option in the NL. If he remains absent from their 40-man, I really want KW to try and get him via rule V. Looking at minorleagueball, he wasn't in their top 20 prospects that were reviewed. Looking at his stats, he's hitting over .300 but has a K/BB ratio of 111/38. I'm guessing if KW's gonna try and get anybody from the D-Backs, it'll be Tracy or Conor Jackson to DH.
  22. 1 - Swing for the Fences mentality. The stats prove it. A.J has K'd a lot more this season with his BA going down, even though he has more homers. Crede and Uribe hit a LOT better away than at home this season. The park is built for the long ball, and taking the power or Carlos Lee and Jose Valentin was always going to hurt that. The Solution - Easy, move the fences back. It'll never happen, but this team isn't built for this ballpark the way it is.
  23. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) Agreed. Pods without base-stealing ability is worthless. That's the only reason we brought him here. If that's the case, I'd rather see--GASP!--Willie Harris lead off. I'm not kidding. Ok so Harris plays, you sit Iguchi then. Who hits in the 2 hole? Do you want Pablo "can I hit nothing but a bloop single out of the infield" Ozuna, leading off instead then?
