QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) Must have been a pain in the ass working that trade out You knew Jerry West was going to do something. That whole team is going to look a lot more different now though, wouldn't suprise me if they targeted a big now with the MLE, considering Lorenzen Wright probably won't be back next season.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) I don't think it will hurt us that much. He'll be back by the beginning of the season so I'm not too worried. I like the team thus far. I'm loving that Rex is back to 100%. I'm loving that Benson/Jones duo. I'm loving Moose. I'm loving Peanut. I'm loving the battle between Moose and Peanut. I'm loving BU healthy again. I'm loving that Edinger is gone. I'm loving the defense. I'm loving the Tank/Tommy duo at DT. I'm loving that Waly is healthy. I'm loving this upcoming season! I'm loving the Bears having no good receivers besides Muhammed.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) Wright is supposed to be a pretty talented player. Plus, they still might resign Damon Jones to back-up Williams. Yeah, but they're ready to win now, Wright may be the better player in 5 years, but Nelson's still a pretty darn good PG. The Magic did well in trading for him for Julius Hodge.

It's a credit to Dave Duncan to getting the most out of him. A couple of years ago wasn't he with the Bluejays and had real bad arm problems?
-
Perhaps B-Mac is using his change a lot more, and still trying to get used to throwing it for strikes, instead of just relying on his fastball - curve combo. Nevertheless, another good outing. Matt Nachreiner had 4 K's in 2IP for Great Falls. Needs to make a move soon. Richard is looking good thus far though, a chance to pitch in Kanny at the start of next season perhaps?

So what other #1 centers are out there we can sign if we do miss out on Modano? Forsberg's a fantasy, Pavol Demitra signed with the Kings and Bobby Holik with the Thrashers. I've heard Alexei Zhamnov be rumored, but I can't see Tallon bringing him back. And if we're in need of a good winger, Alexei Kovalev, Andrew Brunette, John LeClair, Paul Kariya, Teemu Selanne are still available. Also Tony Amonte got a $3.7 million deal for 2 years from the Flames. Not a bad price at all for them. -
Just imagine if they selected Jameer Nelson with the 19th pick instead of Dorrell Wright in last year's draft, they'd be set.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) I don't think Riley makes the deal if he thought Walker would be a problem. And, I'm pretty sure Walker is not coming in thinkin he's gonna be "the man." Shaq and Wade are there to pull his ass into line if he acts up. Gonna be interesting to watch though for sure.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Oh. My. God. That is a huge ass deal! How f***ing long did it take the GM's to sort that s*** out and finalize!?!?!?! Antoine Walker and Jason Williams are awesome pickups for the Heat though. Why would Memphis do this??? Easy. Eddie Jones is a Jerry West favorite, Jason Williams wore out his welcome (for the 2nd time), and Posey was stuck behind Miller and Battier, and Hakim Warrick coming on board probably didn't help much either.

Ok let's try to make sense of this;

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) Modano would shine in Chicago. But my feeling is he'll stay in Dallas. Considering the Stars missed out on getting Hatcher, they probably want Modano back a little more now. -

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 08:08 AM) Does anyone know if Milan Hejduk IIRC, they both made him and Tanguay a qualifying offer. -
Reading up on him, looks like his velocity hasn't come back and he's still having elbow problems. May have to have surgery again.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Really good to see. Aucoin>>>>Berard. Absolutely, and only for what about an extra $1.5 million. If the Hawks want to sign another D-man though, they betta act fast, the Flyers have signed Hatcher, Rathje and Therrien. Things are starting to heat up. -
QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) Would love to see it. They just cut Aaron Sele too. When he's healthy and dominant he's a #2 quality starter. Unfortunately that just hasn't happened for him lately.
-
Interesting; Wouldn't he be a nice addition if we could trade for him (if we didn't have to go up a lot). Won't happen though.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Not as much as other defenseman on the market like Niedermeyer, Pronger etc. The Hawks have targeted Aucoin, and I think they'll get him. Damn I'm good; -
Very nice as always Ian.

This on Aucoin; Adam Foote got a 3 year $13.5M deal from Columbus. But have a look at this; -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) I believe you can add Borchard to the list, as well. Joe needs a good August down in Charlotte, he was up to .260 a week or 2 ago, now back down to .252. Needs to set himself some targets like a K/BB ratio of less than 2:1.
-
QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) Who's likely to get called up for September? Brian Anderson, Jeff Bajenaru, Felix Diaz, Arnie Munoz to name a few. Anderson could rotate in the DH spot with Everett and even get a game or 2 in the OF.
-
It's the new Twins second baseman. Heard he hits better than Brett Boone.
-
Very nice outing indeed for Lance, 0 BB's, 9 K's and only 1ER. Very B-Mac like.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) 1/2 season of Sweeney is still better thank Konerko. I dunno. Some wouldn;t like a trade of Sweeney here to the Sox or as an offseason acquisition but I would love it. He is clutch, PK is not. He is downgrade at 1B but we could just as easily put him at DH. I'm sorry but half a season of Mike Sweeney is not better than a full season of Paul Konerko. You are just extremely undervaluing Konerko's value there. FWIW, Konerko's BA/RISP has been steadily increasing over the past couple of weeks.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 12:41 AM) The Great wall of China is neither continuous, visible from space, nor built within one dynasty... discuss. Am I the only from SoxTalk who's actually been up to the Great Wall (and climbed up about 1200-1500 steps to get to it)?
