QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) Reggie Taylor was picked up by the Rockies... http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...guenum=&id=6608 Ok I didn't actually see that, he was on the Knights' roster for the 2nd half of last season. At least that's 1 to take out of the outfielders.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) Iguchi will be OURS! The Yankees are about to sign Rey Sanchez to be their utility infielder. They won't have any interest in Iguchi now. http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/p...ort=MLB&id=4777 Uhhh I don't think the Yanks were really interested in him in the 1st place. Iguchi wouldn't have signed there to backup Tony Womack and Derek Jeter either. It's the White Sox or Japan for Tadahito.

According to the AP; Expect the Phil Jackson to New York rumors to heat up, too bad he's down here in Melbourne watching the Australian Open Tennis.

QUOTE(babybearhater @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) He's not a lefty specialist, he is a long reliever, damaso and vizcaino will be concentrating on lefties. So it really doesnt matter. And I believe that you were one of the people who are willing to give garland a chance, why not cotts, who has only 2 seasons under his belt. But he's not a very good one at that, 4-4 with a 5.65 ERA are hardly inspiring numbers. His situation right now reminds me a little of Johan Santana's a couple of seasons ago. His changeup is his best pitch, but his fastball is only in the low 90's, and he leaves too many balls up in the strike zone. Give him a season in AAA to work on another pitch, a slider, and he'll be able to setup his changeup to strike out hitters, which is exactly how Santana had so much success last year.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) We played like s*** and got outta town with a win. My prediction for tommorrow on the way. It's the Atlanta Hawks. Lauren Jackson and the Seattle Storm could probably beat em.

I jammed my finger in the wardrobe yesterday. I know it doesn't compare with a half burnt nose, but hey I'm trying. My Dad burned his arm when cooking the turkey on Christmas, that's the best I can come up with.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) Anderson will be ahead of Spidale in Charlotte if there is only one spot for the 2 of them. I would hope and think Spidale has a spot in AAA as well. I think that would be doubtful at best, with Borchard and Escobar most likely going to be everyday players for the Knights. Frankly I'd like to see Anderson spend a month or 2 at Birmingham, and then he can finish the year off at Charlotte and be a September call - up. I don't want to rush him into the big leagues, if he's definitely not ready. We don't want another Borchard situation here. It's hard to see in the next 2 seasons, if he was with the Sox, how he would be an everyday player either.

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 08:51 AM) I will take Castillo over Iguchi THANK YOU VERY MUCH Would you sacrifice Marte And / or Harris + Cotts + a prospect, just to do that though?

Which newcomer will have the biggest impact?
DBAHO replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It'd definitely a hard choice out of all those newcomers. Pierzynski, will be an upgrade over Davis a big one at that, but I don't think he'll make the biggest impact. Hernandez is probably the most important newcomer, if we can get a full season and 15 wins out of him, that will be just huge. Podsednik I think will get back to somewhere between his 2003 to 2004 form, if he can resist the urge to not hit the ball in the air, like he did at Miller Park. So I actually went with Dye in the end. Losing Thomas for the first few months, Maggs and Lee takes away about 80 home runs at least. Konerko might not have another 40 home run season again either, so it's important that Dye can hit about .280, 30 HR and 100 RBI's, which I think he can do. But be warned, he'll have a high amount of K's, and not that many BB's. -
QUOTE(JoshPR @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Rogo is a Natural Firstbaseman. Two things against that though, for this season at least. Travis Hinton will be the 1B down at B-Ham, and Rogo was moved to LF late last season for the Warthogs. Can't see any reason to change that for the moment, unless they decide Hinton can DH instead of someone like Tom Brice.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) We piss the world off by not using the metric system. But just me on SoxTalk right?
-
I think he'll start the season with the Knights personally. You've got Anderson, Sweeney and Rogowski most likely as the starting outfielders for the Barons, so I think Spidale will probably get a shot at AAA.
-
I also forgot Mike Spidale, he could be Charlotte's leadoff hitter, after he had an excellent season for the Barons. So really, there are a lot of outfielders vying for playing time in AAA and AA.
-
The Great Gashy has returned to Modville. Congrats.
-
Escobar needs AB's, so he definitely won't be on the bench for the Sox. But the outfield situation for the Knights and Barons will be interesting to watch though. There are a lot of guys fighting for an everyday spot, including Anderson and Sweeney who should start the year with B-Ham, Thomas Brice, Casey Rogowski, Joe Borchard, Mario Valenzuela, Reggie Taylor and Scott Bikowski.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) $73ish IIRC. That would definitely leave a few mill left for another move now, or one during the trade deadline for a guy like Joe Randa, if we need an upgrapde somewhere to help put us over the top.
-
I'm assuming if we got this deal done, payroll would be at about $75 million right?

Man that is really terrible. That is really going to have me more aware when I finish my midnight shifts at K-Mart.
