  1. This has already been discussed in the FutureSox Board so I'm moving it there.
  2. Happy B-Day!!! Hope u hav a great 1!!!
  3. There's been no mention of Perez this off-season as far as teams interested etc. Frankly I can't believe he'll probably end up with a lower contract than Eric Milton (3 years, $21 million with the Yanks).

Vazquez is an interesting case to look at. He's going to be making $34 million over the next 3 years I believe, there's no way we'll be paying him that much if we acquire so most likely the Yanks will probably have to eat some of his contract. There are arguments for and against acquiring Vazquez. FOR - Couldn't handle the pressure of New York - Look at Jeff Weaver in his 1st year in LA after he left the Yanks. - Has a great arsenal of 4 pitches AGAINST - Is an extreme flyball pitcher, had the 3rd most flyball outs of major league pitches. - His home ERA at the Cell would most likely inflate. - Had arm problems at the end of the 2004 season. All in all, it's a tough decision to decide whether or not to acquire Vazquez. Personally, I'd rather see if we could sign a FA like Odalis Perez or Jon Lieber first, so we could trade PK for some other needs that then we wouldn't have to fill.
  5. Boston were desperate to move Lowe in the 1st half of the 2004 season because he was pitching so bad, I believe he had an ERA above 6, but there was aboslutely no market for him at all because of the amount of money he was making. 2 teams gave up on Clement because he wasn't producing for San Diego and Florida, the numbers show that, but for the last 3 seasons, he has 3 good seasons for the Cubs. It doesn't look like the Cubs want to give up on him, considering the injury problems they've had with Prior and Wood, and they could very well offer Clement arbitration, so they at least get the 2 draft picks if a team like Toronto signs him. Nobody is going to sign him until after Dec. 9 most likely though.
  6. Peyton Manning will get MVP especially if he breaks the TD's record of Marino which he'll do in a couple of weeks.
  7. Clement's numbers over the past 3 seasons at hitting friendly Wrigley Field. 2002 - 12-11, 3.60 ERA, 85 BB's, 215 K's. 2003 - 14-12, 4.11 ERA, 79 BB's, 171 K's. 2004 - 9-13, 3.68 ERA, 77 BB's, 190 K's. And here are Lowe's over the past 3 seasons. 2002 - 21-8, 2.58 ERA, 48 BB's, 127 K's. 2003 - 17-7, 4.47 ERA, 72 BB's, 110 K's. 2004 - 14-12, 5.42 ERA, 71 BB's, 105 K's. Judging by these numbers it seems that Lowe has regressed over a 3 year period. His number of walks has increased, and this is due to him using his best pitch, the sinker, over and over again. Lowe was most successful when he started using all of his pitches. He may be a big game pitcher, but for at least $8 million dollars over 3 to 4 years, which is what his agent Scott Bora$$ is going to want, Lowe seems to be too much of a risk. He'll probably sign with Detroit with Mike Illitch overpaying for deals already this offseason. Clement on the other hand could sign a deal worth only about 5 or 6 million annually over a 2 to 3 year period. The key here is whether or not the Cubs decide to offer him arbitration, if they don't look for the White Sox and Blue Jays to really go after him at the Winter Meetings in December. With the extra money we would possibly save by signing Clement instead of Lowe, it could be the difference between us signing another big name like Nomar or Renteria, or signing or trading for a bullpen guy like Urbina.
  8. The White Sox would have probably taken a greater look at Ring if they didn't sign Walker.
  9. If only they left him in for the 4th quarter, he probably would have thrown another 3 to 4 TD's.

BWHAHAHA, sorry Beastly that has about as much chance of occuring as Jonathan Quinn becoming a franchise QB in the NFL.
  11. Not really. I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving though, can't wait til I get my Turkey Fix come XMas.
  12. Any1 else think Jerry West is going to do something crazy and try to go after Phil Jackson?
  13. Krenzel hurt his right ankle, they thought it was a sprain. He wasn't exactly doing so great either.
  14. If only that would have happened. Chad wouldn't have moved in the pocket at all, at least Quinn took a step up I guess.
  15. You know the Bears and Giants are going to go real, real hard after Harrison in the offseason. But they just looked unstoppable today, and the Lions didn't even do a bad job of getting pressure in Peyton's face.
  16. How to run a successful offense by Jonathan Quinn. Fumble, Fumble and Fumble.
  17. DBAHO replied to Soxfest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes but what I'm saying is that this guy obviously didn't deserve a major league contract just by looking at his stats for the last few seasons. We've got Cotts, Marte and Munoz are the lefties we can look at for the bullpen, Walker will probably be filling Kelly Wunsch's spot in the bullpen down in Charlotte for 2005.
  18. 8 hours until kickoff. Should be a great game, and I can't wait to see how Henson performs.
  19. A little from column A and a little from column B.

    Southtown article on the Walker signing;

Mauer can DH if they need him to, kind of like Matt LeCroy, the Twinkies will find a way to get him into the lineup somehow.
  22. Guys lets not bring personal attacks into this thread otherwise I'll have to close it down and I know nobody wants that to happen.
  23. People expect more out of Curry because he's got the talent to be Shaq like. See the thing is with Curry he lulls you into a false sense of security with a game like this, and then he probably won't hit double figures again for the next 5 games. Mohammed and Sweeney plus a 1st, would still be a good deal, Nazr has had some really good games lately. The Bulls still got killed on the boards tonight, Curry has 2, that's right, 2 freakin rebounds. Boozer, Okur and Harpring b/w them had the same amount of boards as the Bulls. Since the Bulls actually got to the free throw line tonight, they won, but they were very fortunate indeed.
