  1. The terrorist attacks referenced are seperate events from different organizations. Al-Qeada, both in death inflicted and number of members, far exceeds any group on that list.
  2. I agree it's overbearing to label 99% of the worlds terrorist acts on Islamic Extremists, but can we assume they make up a large majority?
  3. Take turns making babies in storage rooms.
  4. Cheech Marlin, From Dusk Till Dawn. SOLID! Risky Business:
  5. Watch out Randar or this thread will be moved into the Roadhouse and locked. You've been warned! SERIOUSLY. Bullying message boards is the only satisfaction I derive from life. Happy Birthday deuce.
  6. I'm betting these poor bastards are just inhaling air and any feeling of "euphoria" is themselves losing brain cells. How much fun could this actually be when descriptions of AWOL are the following: It is not something people are going to get very drunk on. It is designed to allow people to enjoy the effects of alcohol mixed with oxygen. It promotes a sense of well being and a mild euphoria. It is a fun new legal way to take alcohol. Even though I'm not getting drunk, and all traces of alcohol are dissolved in water, the $3,695 price tag (for myself and three of my friends) is simply too tempting to pass up.
  7. Bad idea. There's a record of inventory with each shipment of videos. Last year my friend was arrested for stealing over $200 in DVD's because the manager decided to compare lists of DVD's checked into the computers to that shipped to the store. There was a discrepancy. He was charged with misdeamor theft but only had a small punishment (fine) due to a previously clean recored.
  8. There's only one Australian Sox fan on this site. s***, probably one in the whole Eastern Hemisphere. For those reasons Dbaho's homeland deserves my vote.
  9. There's no question JR would pencil Diaz in the 5th starters spot if he had a good September. He's f***ing cheap! Any excuse to save money will not be overlooked by such ambitions as a World Series championship. Then we'll begin another year of KW begging Sox fans to "cheer for what they have" and point out how the rest of the division is weak. :puke
  10. That's why I'm weary of any success Joe Borchard might have in September. If he were to hit .280, 8 HR's, 30 RBI's, and limit his strikeouts is it because the pressure is off or he's finally feeling comfortable at the plate? I'm positive KW (and Hawk) will use it as proof Borchard is living up to his potential.
  11. Its ridiculously strict. Question a moderators authority, rules of the board (as TMAR did), or act out of line ONE time and you could be banned. I notice many soxtalk members who post over at WSI and I have no problem with that. Afterall, its a White Sox message board and were all on the same side. What perplexes me about our fellow fan site is their new found arrogance now that the media has recognized them. "OMG, DAVE WILLS MENTIONED US!" Now, to properly represent the White Sox community, threads which showcase negativity or heated debates are moved to the Roadhouse. Browse the forum; there's over 20 locked threads. ALL WITHIN TWO WEEKS. Our site has yet to collect that number in nearly two years. Another noteable difference between the sites is the moderating team. Theirs is compiled of disgruntled, arrogant nerds who have no life outside the message board and attempt to justify their existence with an internet dictatorship. Again, browse through the Roadhouse and you'll be grateful of the leniency of this site. Truly the opitimy of mod-abuse. Answer this for me: if any WSI member were to have questioned the removal of a members administrative power (cwsox) would they still be around? Likely not. For anyone not familar with the history several prolific members had with WSI you may think I'm overreacting. "It's just a message board," some will say. Last year, before I began consistently posting here I never would have devoted the time to bash another site. But after reading the abuse of power transpiring at WSI a rant was in order. I'm sorry for hijacking your thead chisoxfan. Good luck with the WGN superfan contest.
  12. Question: If Sox were still in contention, and Garcia was experiencing similiar tightness in arm, does anyone believe he would be sractched in place of Jason Grilli? Hell no. This is our investment for the next three years. If a four-man rotation were implemented and Sox clinched a playoff birth, I'd venture to say Garcia would spend significant time on the DL come next year. Tomorrow's loss may be significant, but I'm glad Guillen recognized our position in the standings and realized there is nothing to gain from trottting out an injured player.
  13. SS2k4, you read through his archived articles? Two more posts (including one immediately proceeding his other rant ) are linked below. http://www.omgn.com/nexus.php?Item_ID=52&Offset=20 http://www.omgn.com/nexus.php?Item_ID=46&Offset=20 I don't understand why he insults Soxtalk, its members, and WSC to an audience that likely doesn't care.
  14. If not for his poor start to this season, Santana would likely become a frunt runner for Cy Young. s***, if he continues on his current pace he may surpass Mark Mulder for the honor. If there's one flaw in Santanas game its his penchant for serving up home runs. Don't know how many box scores I've read where Santana has given up 2 hits; both home runs.
  15. Sure. Dodgers were playing some of the best baseball in the major leagues during July. With a several game lead seperating themselves from the Padres, all Los Angeles desired was another starter (preferable with playoff experience) and a CF. While both needs were fulfilled, Depodesta traded clubhouse favorite Paul LeDouca and setup man Guillermo Mota (both essential to success of the team) for Hee Sop, Brad Penny, and Steve Finley. I simply don't understand why Moneyball Jr. would break up a core team in 1st place. Mota is essentially the piece of the trade which baffles me the most. Before this trade, with a lead following the 7th inning, the Dodgers were a virtual lock to win. (36-0) First day after Mota is traded bullpen loses the game. Yesterday, Eric Gagne throws three innings for the first time since 2001. Either Gagne will begin to consistently pitch more than one inning, or the bullpen will have to step up to compensate for Motas absense. Both are troubling signs. Dodgers failing to acquire Randy Johnson and Charles Johnson surely compounds the misfortune of this trade.
  16. Yes, he should slapped with a banning. If Beastly was shown no mercy during his 5 month suspension, the least our fine moderating team could do was with hold Brandos meager 30 day slap on the wrist. I told myself something immediately after posting earlier in this thread. If Reesdi were NOT Brando, a moderator would surely make a valiant attempt to prove it. Not exactly a name you'd wish to draw similarities with. Whether claiming the IP addresses were different, or simply stating their opinion (as I'm doing), I expected a rebuttal. NOT ONE has surfaced during the 13 hours since Jordan's first post. Is it possible in this time frame not one moderator/administrator viewed this tread? Certainly a possibility, but in an attempt to build a conspiracy theory all information is spinned to validate my point. My conclusion: Brandofan was given the opportunity to start fresh under a new name; as Beastly did last September. Difference being Beastly quietly posted among Soxtalk for nearly a month (before his discovery), while Comrade Brando couldn't lay low for more than ONE DAY. Guess when you write like a poetic douchebag you're easy to pinpoint. Don't take my comments to harshly Brando. You're still my guy, but you simply ignored all rules of secrecy/obscurity/concealment tought by your homeland. Today, the mother land cries tears of Vodka. Not that its unusual to drink heavily in Russia, but seriously you poorly hid your identity.
  17. Good observation. The styles of writing are strikingly similar between reesdi and Brandofan. If its truly him, our comrade still has half a month of suspension to serve.
  18. I agree. KW's ego forbids it. Why promtoe a young pitcher with ONE career win while Contreras has the "stuff" (and prior success) to succeed as a starter. What good would Contreras be out of the pen if Felix Diaz can't pitch past the fourth inning? His role is better served pitching six innings, compared to the three a long reliever would warrant.
  19. Sun Times posted an article this morning briefly discusing the Mets interest in Loaiza. No mention of potential prospects involved in the deal. I completely understand KW's desire to keep Loaiza in our rotation. Its not exactly deep, and if traded there's no player available (in the minors) to replace him. When you look at our five starters you really begin to envy the Cubs, who are actually humoring talks of trading Matt Clement. http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-ssep31.html Although this doesn't pertain to the topic, there's one paragraph within the story which grabbed my attention. If true, it refutes everything printed in newspapers and contradicts a recent interview with Jerry Reinsdorf on WCIU. Was Williams not given the green light to add whatever payroll is necessary? A quote along the lines of "substantial increase" comes to mind. Far as the fluff piece with Uncle Jerry few days ago, he was on with Hawk discussing the team. JR said "money was no concern in persuing possible suitors for this team." Bulls***!
  20. I'd say I have a fairly firm grip on reality Jeckster. Its foolish to believe this season is over with 60+ games remaining, although its just as preposterous to assume Sox will climb back into the race because their schedule is easy. Our club is drastically different without Maggs/Frank, and because there's no precedent to surviving a division race without either you can't assume anything. I understand nobody likes to hear this negativity, and I'll stop after this post, but try to see our teams position from all angles.
  21. You must prepare yourself for the worst Jeckle. If nothing is done, its not because KW has "given up," but KW's unwillingness to trade any prospects or players currently on the roster. Will you still believe "everything is fine" if no further trades are made? Remember this past offseason? EVERYONE (including myself) thought KW was going to pull off a big trade: "He always does before Soxfest," was the general consensus. Who were our big acquisitions? Timo Perez, Juan Uribe, Cliff Politte, Shingo Takatsu. While each has had their role in our success, no one was banking on these players helping much. Really? Because the game I was watching Willie Harris failed to execute a bunt in a crucial situation. WILLIE HARRIS; not Frank Thomas or Carlos Lee. You'd expect Harris to lay down a bunt if the situation called for it. This is your excuse: We can't win them all. According to this philosophy, you would never be upset because even the undaunted Yankees lose games. I know this isn't true Jeckle. This loss is tearing your apart inside, and its only going to take one small error/miscue/display of corpseball which will send you over the edge. Book that s***.
  22. For exactly the reason you just highlighted in the proceeding sentence. Either this streak will push the players, or will break their spirits. While we're all aware 4 games out is easily surmountable, be aware that dropping to 7 games behind is just as likely. Another lethargic, corpseball filled week and it could become a freightening reality. Three losses (or wins) is all it takes to either put this team into contention or bury them for the season. Minnesota may have a tough schedule, but when your teams playing good, fundementally sound baseball any team can be defeated. Just as the Sox could be defeated by any team during this losing streak. I'll tell you what: If Sox lose this upcoming series to KC, there's not going to be much holding me back from a Jeckle-esque rant. I applaud your enthusiasm, but you must realize that quickly falling out of this race is NOT unlikely. Minnesota pulled away from the Sox two summers ago, and could do it again unless this team starts winning.
  23. I have no intentions of isolating SNB, but I've read for too many threads where posters are ridiculed for their concern. Now I admit Jeckles statement could irk some, and I understand the annoyance he brings to this board. What I'm referring to are other threads in which posters voice their concern in logical terms. The usual response: "Our schedule is easier then Minnesotas," "still lot of baseball left," "our team has yet to hit its stride." And more recently, there's surfaced a list where members are labeled as "in or out." I believe this team can compete for this division (and subsequently win it), but not advance far into the playoffs. I support a trade to improve our team, but aren't willing to trade any decent prospect. As you might concieve I'm torn between believing in this team and conceeding the division. Critique my posts, but don't question my devotion to this team. Damn, White Sox baseball will lead me to an early death.
  24. What? Fans aren't allowed to voice their concerns on an internet message board? In my view, its just as annoying reading the threads where fans are oblivious to a teams troubles. Our bullpen is questionable, starting rotation inconsistent outside of Buehrle/Garica, and offense is without their two best players. You can't just ignore this because our remaining schedule is significantly easier than Minnesotas. Who are you to distinguish the decline of this message board from fans venting their frustration?
