Roster Changes Coming?
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) There's a difference between being lazy and being run down. I don't think you realize how banged up catchers get, especially those who catch as many games as AJ. That's why catchers get a pass for not running out ground balls to the second baseman when it's not a critical point in the game. Still, AJ hustled on a lot of ground balls when it mattered. A lot of the backhand attempts were probably also due to him being banged up and playing in pain. AJ was the last of the vocal on field leaders the Sox had. Losing him certainly in part has something to do with the Sox lack of focus. I doubt this has any appreciable affect on on-field performance. And honestly, I hope no one in management reads your posts and thinks it's a good idea; because then we may get one of those gritty (ie, terrible) veteran players and justify keeping him around for his leadership.

6/3 - The Return of the Bacon Slayer
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 10:21 AM) In the likely (but not certain) event that Beckham comes back and is the player he always was, the fans are going to hate him extra because of how much nonsense Hawk has been spewing about him turning the season around. I feel like Hawk has done him a huge disservice -- everyone was comfortable with him not being very good before. I was listening to his Beckham slurping yesterday, embarrassed to have even heard it. All he's doing is delaying having to make an honest assessment of the White Sox. If anyone follows his philosophy (which I'm sure many don't) when is it ever right to judge a struggling team? There's always going to be several players slumping, injured, or some other excuse to extend hope just a little bit longer.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) It's not even that. He passed the eye test. God, another guy who passed the eye test? 2008 Carlos Quentin. It seemed almost impossible to pitch to that version of that guy. It's too bad that he both hates hits own wrist and is a mental midget. You know who else loves the eye test? The Soxtalk Meathead. Its his preferred methodology for evaulation of a player

f*** the Cubs official game thread 5/30/13
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 30, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) The Cubs are simply a better and more talented team than the White Sox - the White Sox just happen to not be in a division with the Cardinals so they get to tease the silly idiots who think they have a chance a little bit longer. I enjoy distancing myself from Soxtalk for awhile and then returning and reading through posts by the same members (often year to year) who cannot seem to recognize a White Sox team for what it is. I don't know if immersing yourself in every pitch of every game and then coming on here to discuss it every day removes you objectivity, but it's troubling in some cases. This is not a well constructed ballclub. They will not be winning in the playoffs.

Hawk still out with sore throat
Get well soon, buddy!

QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ May 30, 2013 -> 03:10 PM) Then clearly, they want the season to be over with. Good, we'll all back on this season much they same as 07, 09, 11 anyways -- forgettable. I'm hoping that the highlights of this season center around the emergence of Hector Santiago as a front line starter, and the stellar trade package we hopefully receive for Jake Peavy.

What an embarrassing series this has been.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:47 AM) I'd go with this: DeAza 8 Ramirez 6 Rios 9 Viciedo 7 Konerko 3 Flowers 2 Peavy 1 Gillaspie 5 Keppinger 4 Is there some Beautiful Mind logic to having Peavy bat 7th? Or Flowers anywhere but 8th?

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) Jesus. How many outs have we given up becuase of stupid s*** on the basepaths the last few weeks? It's mind boggling. What happened to this team on September first?
-
Game thread, 1:10CST CSN
Yep, that's about expected. Just quick dragging this charade out Detroit and beat Minnesota. Also, I'm all for losing out the season. Why not enjoy their futility?

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) One of the few things we haven't done while choking is throw a wild pitch on a IBB. Might as well Nate CHOKE CREDE!

This is quickly becoming fun-bad. They're incapable of generating offense, and when they do -- the pitching staff gives it right back. That irritates me more than anything as a fan, I couldn't imagine how the players feel. They haven't built momentum for anything but terrible baseball these last two weeks.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) Absolutely inexcusable for the coaching staff to be asleep there. It's only late September, still plenty of time left in the season to correct bullpen mismanagement.

Unbelievable. Stall now and warm the pen; he should be done.

That's nice of Tampa to give us that run.

Unbelievable. I can't stand Danks at this point. Nothing will deflate a team more. Everyone on that field is hating him now.
-
4/22/12 GT Sox @ Mariners 3:10pm, CSN
This is exactly the type of situation Danks aggravates everyone. His offense has given him a lead, if even one runner reaches Ventura has to get that bullpen warmed.

Rios is a completely different player. It's amazing.

Dunn, watch the play next time and don't try to prance like a ballerina over Olivo. Use your body, goof.

Well here's AJ. If he's batting can we assume he's able to catch if they so happen to tie the game? If so, HUGE mistake by Ventura.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) Wow, just terrible managing not using your hottest hitter when he'd represent the tying run. Only excuse I'd accept is if Pierzynski is sore, but even so, throw out Fukodome for Viciedo. Today hasn't been good for Tank.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 03:39 PM) Up until a week ago, that would have worked. But Rios and Ramirez have been pretty dangerous. Maybe walk AJ, though, and try to get the DP ball from Rios or Alexei. Somehow, I wouldn't be shocked if it was Nathan Jones and not Addison Reed eventually emerging as the closer. Well, this inning so far has been appropriate. Konerko walked, Rios doubles....
