  1. They're giving us a mid rotiation SP with two years of relatively cheap control without giving up much of anything, and dumping Keuchel. That's probably more valuable to the Sox than a prospect at this juncture.
  2. Just spitballing here, but clearly Cincy is just looking to slash payroll. Think we could get Mahle by taking on Moustakas? Something like: Sox give: Burger, Adolfo, and Keuchel ($19.5M). Reds give: Mahle (2 arb years left; should get around $6M) & Moustakas (2 years $38M). Reds dump ~$24M in guaranteed net savings onto the Sox (more like $34M counting Mahle's 23 arb total), plus get an MLB ready replacement for Suarez at 3B, and an MLB ready OF to give some ABs too. Sox might have to add another interesting prospect onto this, but I wouldn't hate it. Not a huge Moos fan, and this obviously means Sox just roll with Vaughn/Sheets in RF as we spent our money on Mahle and Moose, but it certainly makes the 2022 roster a lot better.
  3. Pretty much, yeah. I agree.
  4. I mean, it’s not overblown. The Sox aren’t a great offensive team against RHP. Generally, as you know, lefties hit righties better - which is why semblance of roster balance is important. Obviously youre not picking a shitty LHH over a really good RHH just due to handedness. You won’t see me really defend the Harrison move, but if you’re gonna sign an OF, it really should be a lefty that hits RHP well. The lineup needs it. Just so happens this guy named Michael Conforto is a pretty good fit and is a FA.
  5. He bats with the wrong hand, for one. We need a lefty. Badly.
  6. This board is becoming a tough read.
  7. You and 95% of the people who post on this board.
  8. Where is this Pederson talk coming from today? Did we get linked to him, or just people assuming the worst?
  9. I'd be floored if they did it. Very un White Sox. But it does make some sense, I guess. I am all for getting a year of control back. Still need to sign an OF if that is the plan tho.
  10. We do. But most GMs say the same things.
  11. Actually a solid rule starting in the 12th. 10th is terrible.
  12. Yeah, I mean $4M isn't much of anything. But to everyone's point, the Sox have a history of these smaller signings pile up on not very useful players, and then the totality of the outlay ends ups being the AAV of an actually impactful player they didn't sign. Let's hope that isn't the case this offseason.
  13. The title of the thred is kind of misleading. Its a $4M 1 year deal with a $1.5M buyout on a team option for 23. $5.5M guaranteed, but a $4m deal. Haven't heard what the 23 option value is yet.
  14. Good. Whoever hands Story that kind of $ is going to regret it quickly. Hopefully the Twins.
  15. For 2 years of Matt Olson? Its a big overpay IMO.
  16. Wow, thats a big return.
  17. That's.....more than I thought.
  18. While this very well may not be the Sox, I would absolutely hate handing Trevor story over $100M.
  19. Heyman reporting that Trevor story has turned down a nine figure contract offer because the team wanted him to move positions…
  20. I hope the Twins back up the truck for Trevor Story. Dude is overrated and they can continue to straddle the line between competing and rebuilding.
  21. They like Jeffers a lot. Rortvedt isnt really big leaguer, but he’s a really good defensive catcher.
  22. Why did they just trade their last 1st rounder for a SP with 2 years control then? Doesn’t make any sense….yet anyways. It’s definitely interesting.
