  1. Fegan saying it’s not too good. Hope to get this one in.
  2. Leury is a substantially better player than Mendick. And that is before taking into account the extreme versatility. I usually agree with your baseball takes, but not sure what you're digging your heels in on this one. No one is crowning Leury an all-star - just a very useful bench piece on a good team that has been forced into frequent duty this year because he's stayed healthy and no one else has. He also is a great clubhouse and wants to be in Chicago. Those things also matter.
  3. LOL!!!!! Still hates Grandal! This guy, ladies and gentlemen…It’s personal, for some reason.
  4. I….just…..I disagree. I like fWAR as much as anyone but just don’t agree in this instance. I also am surprised Yolmer doesn’t have an mlb job, but then I look at his 2021 and yikes. Leury isn’t some world beater. I’m not saying they should sign him to a lifetime deal or that I’m gonna be torn apart if he leaves. But he clearly fits will on this team. No I don’t want him starting and yea he’s played too much this year out of necessity. But Hell yes am I interested in resigning him to a 1 or 2 year deal at $2.5-3.5M. It’s chump change. He’s useful. That’s it. That’s all anyone is saying.
  5. Lol I don’t really think there is much love here. Dudes a rock solid 25/6th man. Can play anywhere and is a pretty good defender wherever you stick him. I’d take 100x over Mendick and for $2-3M a year which I’m sure all it would take to retain him…not a bad use of funds.
  6. I mean, they're still good and will be for a few years. But they traded away ALOT and don't have much to show for it yet. And its not the young of a team.
  7. They also pretty effectively reduced their window of being good with all the trades the past couple seasons. I certainly am happy Hahn & Co didn't operate that way.
  8. The QO is still in effect for this coming offseason tho, yah? No way the CBO is hammered out before that deadline.
  9. There is no way in hell Rodon gets close to $120M IMO. Not even close. He’d be fortunate to get half. Feel feee to quote me if I’m wrong down the road. Certainly may be. But with his history, I don’t see it. 4/$80M I could see as about his max imo. I think 3/$55M is probably closer. But who knows.
  10. Rodon isn't coming back, and the Sox shouldn't spend the $ it will require to get him. I am guessing $15-18M AAV on the 3-4 year deal. I love (this version) of Carlos, but that isn't good to be a good deal for whoever signs that
  11. I am with you. I'd love to do better. But like....who? The guys I listed are going to be outside of the Sox budget. Maybe Semien is still floating around in Jan/Feb and we can get him for like 2/$25M and then ship Cesar off somewhere else at that point? Otherwise you're looking at guys like Eduardo Escobar, Jurickson Profar, Miguel Rojas, etc. I'd probably prefer Escobar to Cesar like I did in July (putting aside bad wheel) but its close. The others are worse than Cesar. I guess Chris Taylor could be an interesting fit and nice middle ground. He's older and that should keep his price tag down a bit.
  12. I wouldn't doubt it. There was that story for a few years ago when Sox were going to non-tender Leury and he legitimately begged Hahn/FO to give him another chance. He wants to be in Chicago, and now that they're actually good, I am sure he loves being a part of it. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he's brought back. In fact, I expect it. Like I mention 2/$5-7M should get it done, and is a perfectly reasonable allocation of resources. I think the bigger question is becoming if Cesar's $6M is as big of a no brainer as it appeared a few weeks ago. Obviously could do much worse as your 9 hitter, but I hope Sox pick up the option and monitor that middle IF market. Lots of spendy options in C Seager, Story, Correa, Baez, Semien. Doubt any of those would be fits though with where the Sox payroll is going, and really need a LHB at 2B with this lineup. So its going to be Cesar in all likelihood - talked myself out of it.
  13. I like Leury. I fully expect the Sox to bring him back on a 2 year $5-7M deal and I am in full support. When he’s not overused, he’s the perfect bench guy.
  14. Gonna be tough for Romy to crack in at SS in TAs absence after Leury’s last 2 games there. Wowza!
  15. He probably did. Was moreso just speculating on a potential reason why the Sox didn't give him a chance with a September call-up as opposed to Foster. Also would need to make 40 man room, so of course that is a factor as well.
  16. Right. Luis Gonzalez kind of sucks. He was incredibly unlikely to survive the winter on the 40 man anyway.
  17. Kyle Crick is supposed to be a grade A asshole. I wouldn't doubt if that had something to do with it.
  18. Yah, I am surprised to see Sheets back. Honestly thought we wouldn't see him til next Summer. I don't really see the Sox playing him over Goodwin. They're both bad in RF, but Goodwin may be a little better out there. Goodwin is still hitting .272/.374/.517 against RHP, so that is pretty good.
  19. Romy listed as #89 on the ChiSox.com roster. Love it.
  20. A little surprised to see them cut bait with Lamb. Was the right move tho. Could have done in a few weeks ago instead of brining him back from the IL.
  21. Which...to be fair...LH hitting is needed on this roster. But yeah. I'd probably just DFA Rutherford and keep Lamb around for now, but he's definitely in the consideration pile for the axe. Still need to find room for Engel, Collins and Marshall. My guess is Mendick, Lamb and Wright will be the casualties, with the latter two getting DFA'd.
  22. Was pretty obvious what they were doing from the beginning.
