  1. I think if his market dips that much, you have to be interested. But I think you still to acquire a LH hitting OF that can play RF most days with Ozuna at DH, and occasionally in RF/LF.
  2. Ozuna would be lucky to get $80M guaranteed. $160M over 7 is insane.
  3. If we’re doing deals with the Rockies, I’d be much more interested in Dahl, Tapia and even Blackmon if Sox looking to deal for a contract. All would be good options, unfortunately only Tapia is above average defensively.
  4. Yah, it’s really just those two. I like Grandal a lot because we can get him time at first as well, and Jose to DH. Eloy is what he is, I am hopeful he can continue to improve and be passable. Rest of the defense should be at worst average. A RF that can play above average defense would be so enormous for this team.
  5. Sox defense should be considerably better by May when Robert and Madrigal are there. Unless they put a terrible RF out there, which is why it’s important to fill that position wisely.
  6. Depending on what kind of contract he signs, I’d be thrilled with Keuchel if paired with Wheeler.
  7. Just read this thread. Well played @Chicago White Sox, well played.
  8. How did I misunderstand your comment, chief? You said you want to avoid Wood like the plague and suggested 2 guys in Volquez and Hernandez who are toast at this point. What am I misunderstanding? I assume you’ll say it’s what you think they’ll do versus what they should do. I sure hope they have their sights set higher than that.
  9. The name most definitely matters.
  10. Avoid Alex Wood like the plague but you’re pinning for the corpse of King Felix and Edinson Volquez? I can’t express my LOL enough.
  11. Hahn has pretty much confirmed Kopech won’t be in the big leagues out of ST.
  12. That seems like a good recipe for not being very good.
  13. I think it’s better than a 50/50 chance Calhoun is a FA. And if he’s not, he’d cost nothing to acquire but a lottery ticket. I think you could Nimmo for something like Rutherford + Steiver + backend top 30 guy. Obviously prefer not to trade Steiver, but gotta give to get.
  14. I still think Adolfo is going to be a monster. It may not happen for a few more years, but remain patient Sox fans. He could develop into a star.
  15. Wood is almost certainly going to take a 1 year pillow deal after this season.
  16. Again, I don't personally think that offseason would be disappointing. But we both know some here would. Not sure why that is what you're choosing to focus on in the post.
  17. Gotcha, makes sense. Just looking at it slightly differently.
  18. Hahn likes to made trades. RF is the natural place for a trade. I expect that is where we'll get our RF.
  19. There just aren't many options. Which is why I keep going back to a trade. Nimmo would be my #1 choice, but guys like Ramiel Tapia, David Dahl, Gregory Polonco and Nomar Mazara could also be answers,
  20. I'd love to hear your other solutions of RF that bat left handed and aren't a liability on defense. I'll save you some time - none of them are sexy. We're working with Dickerson, Gardner, Kole Calhoun and Alex Gordon. Gardner may be the best overall player of the bunch. Assuming a 1 year deal, I don't think he'd be a bad addition if other legitimate signings are made. I too would prefer someone else, but it would need to come via trade.
  21. We're at ~$45M assuming Sanchez is non-tendered. Unless you think Abreu is getting $25M per (I don't), its not $70M with Abreu. Probably more like $62-64M range. Not a HUGE difference, but every dollar counts I guess.
  22. I prefer Grandal to Martinez for a few reasons. 1. Sox really need lefty bats. I also worry that the Sox would overplay Martinez in the OF. 2. 1B/DH gets super crowded with Martinez and Abreu. I suspect JDM would get at minimum a 3 year deal, likely more, and with the Sox apparently planning to keep Abreu around for at least a few more seasons, it gets difficult to find Vaughn at bats . I do think Vaughn will be ready by 2021 at the latest, so I am not exactly in a hurry to block him. 3. I suspect the McCann we saw in the 2nd half is the McCann we'll get in 2020. He's still a solid major leaguer, but we need to not overexpose him. A three-headed catcher DH combo of Grandal/Collins/McCann makes a ton of sense. Grandal can also play 1B and put Abreu at DH at times. 4. I don't think the Sox are going to relegate Collins to a backup catcher at this point in his career. They're going to want to DH him at least a couple times a week against RHP, and that is tough to do regularly without a third catcher on the roster. All that said, I wouldn't be against JDM + Grandal instead of Abreu + Grandal, but I doubt we see that happen.
  23. OD Lineup: Garcia CF, Moncada 3B, Abreu 1B, Eloy LF, Grandal DH, Anderson SS, Gardner/Dickerson RF, McCann C, Yolmer/Mendick 2B BN: Yolmer/Mendick, Collins, Engel Rotation: Gioltio, Wheeler, Cease, Lopez and Hill/Wood Lineup by mid April: Robert CF, Moncada 3B, Abreu 1B, Eloy LF, Grandal DH, Anderson SS, Gardner/Dickerson RF, Madrigal 2B, McCann C BN: Leury, Yolmer/Mendick, Collins and Engel Rotation: Giolito, Wheeler, Kopech, Cease, Lopez/Hill/Wood NOT TOO SHABBY!
  24. I mean...I said it it would be a fantastic offseason in post. Some would definitely be disappointed we didn't get Cole/Stras/Rendon/JDM, but I too think it would put a pretty good team on the field in 2020.
  25. Wheeler + Grandal + Abreu + Gardner/Dickerson + Hill/Wood would be pretty fantastic offseason - albeit perhaps slightly disappointing nobody super premium - but I think it should be pretty realistic and takes nothing away from the farm. Add a solid veteran reliever as well and go to battle. Payroll would be around $125M for 2020, and leaves RF open for the OF prospects to develop for 2021, or for a FA splash in 2021 that better fits what the Sox need.
