I bet he would if it paid him the most money. But ya, Rendon is a 3B and the comment I made was mostly in jest as I literally said in the post he’s not signing with the Sox.

Grandal + Wheeler would be a fantastic start. Trade for Nimmo and sign a backend lefty option and I would be tickled with that offseason.

Chicago writer adds Q, R.Hill and Hamels to FA want list

I don't think I would really be categorized as either of those "kinds of Sox fans". I didn't grow up in Chicago, so I don't have the hate for the Cubs most Sox fans have. But I also don't follow the Cubs as much as some Sox fans may, which leads to alot of posters (and likely Sox fans in general) suggesting acquiring Cubs players like.....multiple times per day on here. Q would be a great fit. I believe you and I have already discussed him in another thread so I won't rehash that, but he isn't going to be a FA. Schwarber would be fine DH addition, but he only has 2 years of control, meh on base numbers and has struggles to hit his weight. If he were a FA he'd a decent DH option. Heyward would be a fine as cheap 1 year stop gap in RF, but he has 4 years and $86M left on his deal! There is absolutely no reason why the Sox should blow a bunch of the flexibility they've worked so hard to get to acquire an average player getting paid like a star. -

mmhhmmm -
If you could get him on like a 2 years $8M deal, I'd be for it. Whats the harm? If he sucks, you just send him to Charlotte or cut him. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I wouldn't hate this as another bench/backup options to a guy like Calhoun/Dickerson if that is the route the Sox go. I'd rather not be one injury away from Palka/Cordell again,

Unless the Cub are paydown Heyward's deal to around $10M per, no chance in hell am I doing that deal. FWIW, that would mean that Cubs would be sending $45M with. We don't need to be taking on the Cubs trash. -

Yah, I mean the Cubs may very well trade him. But they aren't going to buy him out of his contract for a net cost of $10M. -

They can. But they won't. -
Can we close this train wreck thread?

Thanks for the insight. $4-6M AAV I assume?

Q is no going to be a FA. How is this still being discussed. -
Not an Ozuna fan at all, but if you can get him at 3/60 or less you do it. I don’t see that happening.
-
96 wins is incredibly optimistic if Puig is the best position player added. In fact, 85 wins would be optimistic with that team. Sox need a much more impactful offseason if they’re remotely serious about competing.

Odorizzi would not be a very good signing as our main SP add. He is an extreme flyball pitcher and would get murdered at the cell in the warm months.
-
Castellanos just really isn't a very good fit.
-
There isn't much of a reason to not give Fulmer one more shot. He's out of options, so its do or die for him him next ST. Very likely he is DFA's next March or even early into 2020, but like I said, may as give it one more whirl. Cutting bait doesn't get you anything, and there is plenty of other fat to trim from the 40 man.
-
The first of many, I assume.
-
We can tell.
-
Again - happy to wager any amount of money his option will be picked up. Teams don't decline one year options on guys on under market deals - even if it is slightly under market.
-
It is a lock, though. I do agree that a trade probably wouldn't return anything super exciting, because Q is paid perhaps just slightly less than what he's worth on an AAV basis. But getting something in return is better than getting nothing in return. Anyways, going to stop posting on this topic because it has virtually nothing to do with White Sox baseball.
-
bWAR is trash. Happy to wager any dollar amount you'd like that the Cubs pick up Q's option.
-
Jose Abreu is 1.5 WAR player. He is pretty poor at 1B. I expect them to resign him and you can definitely do worse. But paying him $20M over 2 or 3 seasons would be insane.
-
Jose would be very lucky to get over 2/$30M on the open market. He wants to stay here. Paying him more than that would be very stupid.
-
This isn't a Cubs board so this is the last comment I will make on the topic. Jose Quintana provided fWAR of 3.5 this season. Good for 14th in the National League. Cubs fans may not like him, but he is still a VERY valuable pitcher at a net cost of $10.5M. I will say it again - Jose Quintana's option is about as big of a no brainer as they get. He may have thrown his last pitcher as Cub, but it won't be because the Cubs didn't pick up his option. /End of discussion.
