  1. Potential 2021 lineup maybe. I'd put Adolfo in RF over Walker at this juncture though.
  2. Yah...it has been discussed ad nauseam and not really a great fit for a Moncada thread. But what we need in RF, this FA market does not provide.
  3. I think it could get done without any of our top 4 prospects or any major pieces already at the MLB level. I've previously suggested Steiver + Rutherford + Cody Heuer. I think that gets you close, if not there.
  4. There is actually a legitimate contingent of White Sox fans on twitter that want to trade for 1 year of Mookie Betts. People - the Sox may find themselves in contention next August. But they didn't go through this process to trade Madrigal, Vaughn or Cease ++ to acquire 1 year of an impending free agent in first year of expected decency. Just pure lunacy. That is a deal the Sox maybe could consider another year or two down the line when the impending FA is the actual difference maker in what could be a legitimate WS contender. But not now.
  5. There is as close to a 0% chance as humanly possible than the Sox go into 2020 without a RF that is not currently on the roster.
  6. This. There are some tax considerations that may come into play on some offers as well, but 95% of the players are going to take the deal that gives them the most take-home pay. Its really that simple. Everything else is primarily noise. Sure, there may be a few later in their career players that will make a decision based on preferences if the difference in pay isn't significant (say $1-2M or less), but that is rare. I have no doubt that if the Sox offered Cole, Rendon, Strasburg or whomever the most amount of take home pay after taxes, they'd get the player. There is no inherent disadvantage the Sox are up against and that is just another narrative that overly negative Sox fans love to hang onto.
  7. Peralta would be a nice fit. Struggles to stay healthy but is a pretty good stick when he is. Also a much needed lefty.
  8. Looking to fill a few spots in a fantasy nba league on yahoo. $100 buy in. 100% payout. Can provide payment references if you want. I run alot of fantasy leagues, so experienced commish. 9. Kind of a fun exercise. Only really looked at top 4 rounds...I think argument could be made for top 5. Tough to beat Bellinger, Judge and Bryant though. 1. Cory Bellinger (124) 2. Aaron Judge (32) 3. Kris Bryant (2) 4. Tim Anderson (17) 5. Austin Meadows (9) 6. Sean Manaea (34) 7. Hunter Dozier (8) 8. Marco Gonzalez (19) 9. Clint Frazier (5) 10. JP Crawford (16) / Hunter Renfroe (13)
  10. A tradition unlike any other - Sox fans pining to acquire Cubs players. There are 28 other clubs gents! Also, Ian Happ sucks.
  11. I like Calhoun much more as a FA. Trading a prospect for him and then paying him $14M seems kinda brutal. If LAA buys him out, I'd be more interested in a 1 year $7-9M type deal and spend that extra $5M on a reliever. But as others have said, I really only like that move if he's like the 4th or 5th most significant player added this offseason.
  12. Grandal was quoted as saying he wanted to play for a contender. Sox are certainly going to look much more like a contender next season than this past. I also don't see him turning down a 3/$60M type off like he did last offseason.
  13. I don't think any is "fascinated" with Mazara. But he is a 24 year old LH former elite prospect with light tower power and room to improve. He's definitely not the sexy name he was 3-4 year ago, and he's relatively cheap and has a far bit of upside. Its unfortunate that he's not a good defender, as that definitely need to be a priority. But he should cost about 1/3 as much as Calhoun and has significantly better offensive upside. Again, there are probably 8-9 options I would prefer over Mazara, but if all he costs was something Fulmer + Laz Rivera, I'd rather plug Mazara in RF/DH and see if we catch lightning in the a bottle than roll with internal options.
  14. I'd be surprised if Yolmer is non-tendered, but I would also be surprised if they go to arb with him. I hope they go in another direction, but I doubt that they do. They will offer him something like 2 years/$8M, and he'll likely take it. It's whatever. While we could certainly do better, we could also do worse. At least he is a plus defender. I just hope the Sox call up Madrigal by the end of April and end the Yolmer as the everyday 2B era.
  15. Ehh, honestly I'd be fine with Mazara. He'd be in my top 10 for wants in RF. Definitely not first few choices, but I'd rather him than Kole Calhoun at $14M.
  16. Yah I think he’ll always have a BABIP over .350 or so. He just hits piss missiles all over the field.
  17. Laz Rivera. Would have been nice to sell high there. His 2019 was woof. Probably would have been the next Chris Taylor with the Dodgers tho.
  18. It’s going to be less than 1/3 at this point. Grandal will get 4/70 at the absolute most. I think 3/60ish will be the deal. With the season Cole has had, Id be shocked if he got less than 7/225.
  19. McCann would be for an excellent backup. I agree with that, and hope that is what he is for the Sox next year. But he's produced 2.2 fWAR this season. Good for 10th among all catchers in baseball. Unless you think there are only 9 starter quality catchers in baseball, this is another very poor hot take from Jack Parkman.
  20. Vaughn alone for Pederson would be such a comically bad trade for the White Sox. Cmon man
  21. Mmmhmmm. Would have been complainers regardless. Moving on from Avi was the right decision based on the situation.
  22. They had him for 1 more season. He ran out of time to become anything more than he was with the White Sox. For an org that struggles to move on, I give the Sox credit for turning the page from Avi. Edit: the plan to replace him was in fact poor. Sucks Cordell couldn’t be half ways decent but he was worth giving the look to.
  23. I mean, sure. Because RF has been a black hole and Avi is major leaguer. But it wouldn’t have really changed much and Avi would still be walking as a FA in a couple months. Avi is what Avi is, and the Sox know exactly what that is. I lost absolutely zero sleep about not having Avi. Though I will always respect the guy for always busting his butt.
