  1. Not an Ozuna fan at all, but if you can get him at 3/60 or less you do it. I don’t see that happening.
  2. 96 wins is incredibly optimistic if Puig is the best position player added. In fact, 85 wins would be optimistic with that team. Sox need a much more impactful offseason if they’re remotely serious about competing.
  3. Odorizzi would not be a very good signing as our main SP add. He is an extreme flyball pitcher and would get murdered at the cell in the warm months.
  4. Castellanos just really isn't a very good fit.
  5. There isn't much of a reason to not give Fulmer one more shot. He's out of options, so its do or die for him him next ST. Very likely he is DFA's next March or even early into 2020, but like I said, may as give it one more whirl. Cutting bait doesn't get you anything, and there is plenty of other fat to trim from the 40 man.
  6. The first of many, I assume.
  7. We can tell.
  8. Again - happy to wager any amount of money his option will be picked up. Teams don't decline one year options on guys on under market deals - even if it is slightly under market.
  9. It is a lock, though. I do agree that a trade probably wouldn't return anything super exciting, because Q is paid perhaps just slightly less than what he's worth on an AAV basis. But getting something in return is better than getting nothing in return. Anyways, going to stop posting on this topic because it has virtually nothing to do with White Sox baseball.
  10. bWAR is trash. Happy to wager any dollar amount you'd like that the Cubs pick up Q's option.
  11. Jose Abreu is 1.5 WAR player. He is pretty poor at 1B. I expect them to resign him and you can definitely do worse. But paying him $20M over 2 or 3 seasons would be insane.
  12. Jose would be very lucky to get over 2/$30M on the open market. He wants to stay here. Paying him more than that would be very stupid.
  13. This isn't a Cubs board so this is the last comment I will make on the topic. Jose Quintana provided fWAR of 3.5 this season. Good for 14th in the National League. Cubs fans may not like him, but he is still a VERY valuable pitcher at a net cost of $10.5M. I will say it again - Jose Quintana's option is about as big of a no brainer as they get. He may have thrown his last pitcher as Cub, but it won't be because the Cubs didn't pick up his option. /End of discussion.
  14. Yes, he's much better than Nova. And yes, the Cubs would be able to get something for him. And no, the fanbases opinion is rather irrelevant.
  15. The Cubs aren't going to decline Q's option. That would be a poor decision. At the very least they could get something for him after picking it.
  16. Or Carlos Rodon wants to the sign the contract.
  17. The Sox should have the upperhand in negotations with Jose. The man wants to stay. Paying him over $20M per year would be insane.
  18. An $8.5M AAV isn't going to kill the Sox even if Rodon never throws another major league pitch. I think it would be fantastic gamble. My guess is Rodon would want more $, otherwise he'd rather bet on himself.
  19. So you do believe their payroll will be below $75M? Their committed payroll in 2020 is $15M. About $45M with arb figures. Unless you think the Sox are now one of the 2-3 lowest spenders in the game, your take doesn't make a ton of sense.
  20. So you expect the Sox to have a payroll south of $75M next season?
  21. How does one define that as quantity?
  22. It was 9 games, not 10. Just looked again. 4 of those 9 games he was the DH. He played 20% of the teams games at catcher in September. He was swinging the bat pretty decent at the end of the year - his OPS was .900 in September (SSS). I highly doubt Castillo is brought back. But we'll see. Sox fans are conditioned to expect the worst.
  23. Castillo started 9 games in September, at least half of which were at DH.
  24. Still think Sox should approach Rodon this offseason with a like a 3 year $25M deal with a series of club options. 20: $6M 21: $8M 22: $11M 23-25: $14M club options If he never returns to form, its not that big of a price to pay. If he does, you have yourself an extremely valuable asset. For Rodon, it gives him some assurances becuase if he comes back in 2020 and sucks, he likely gets non-tendered and may be looking at a cheap 1 year deal or even an milb deal in 2021. Attractive for both sides, IMO.
  25. That would be incredibly disappointing.
