Lol. Stailey sucks. Its likely Giolito sucks too, but he is a former #1 overall prospect and is just 24 years old. He also has an option. There is absolutely 100% zero reason for the Sox not to give Giolito 2019 to try to figure it out. I bet 29 other clubs would be happy to have Giolito. A good chunk would put him in AAA and pray for a revival there, but this isn't some garbage piece that no one would want.

Eloy officially got paid
Not really. He said that he's had an opportunity to move for work for sometime, but has been hesitant because he loves the Sox and wants the ability to take his kids to Sox games. But in the heat of the moment following a massive letdown and failure from our FO, he said he may finally pull the trigger. Slightly different.

Agreed. I am all for Jay riding the pine pony in favor of Leury. New lineups until Leury breaks: RHP: Leury / Jay CF, Moncada 3B, Abreu DH, Alonso 1B, Castillo C, Eloy LF, Palka RF, Anderson SS, Sanchez 2B LHP: Jay / Leury RF, Sanchez 2B, Abreu 1B, Castillo C, Rondon DH, Eloy LF, Moncada 3B, Anderson SS, Engel CF

Frare too. Hahn has done a very nice job assembling a crop of very interesting bullpen arms in Chicago and the upper minors. Credit where credit is due.

Could be Frare too. Otherwise we'd be holding 3 lefties. I think Covey hangs unless he has a rough start to the season.

That is a reasonable take on Nate. Herrera not so much. By the way - do you have any single post out of your 171 that aren't blatantly negative?

3/24 Sox vs Indians, 2pm, NBCSC
He has made 117 starts in his career. He debuted in 2011 and made 28 starts. He has matched or exceeded that number once since. He’s averaged less than 15 starts per season in his career. He could be solid this year if he stays healthy, but relying on that at this point is crazy.

If Pineda makes 15 starts, it will be a minor miracle.

Spring Training Thread
Nicky still has at least 2 more years of options. Sure he's on the 40 man, but there is plenty of fat to trim before he was would be on the chopping block. I'd be very surprised if we've seen the last of Nicky in a Sox uni.

Burr, Banuelos, Covey to Pen
Hamilton would be in AAA or on AAA IL/DL. He isn't starting on MLB IL. Don't have options list in front of me but don't believe it is an issue with him.

With Banuelos in the pen that means Santana is breaking with the club, they’re only going with 4 SP, or they’ll stack Covey/Banuelos as an opener for the 5th spot to start.

Palk Smash!
I genuinely hope that is Palka.

I’m sure Ricky will let McCann have his shot at the 3 hole first, ya.

Dallas Keuchel time is now.
Does he have a pick attaches to him even if he signs in say June? Does it not fall off until after the 2019 season?

Guess the Opening Day 25 Man
Leury has looked good in ST. He'll eventually break, but I wouldn't be opposed to running him out there 5 days a week in the early going.

Eloy officially got paid
Pretty much nailed it.

White Sox Sign Alcides Escobar
The Sox have very few IF in the upper minors. Mendick is really it. I doubt Laz Rivera starts in AAA.

They could just let Palka hack away at LHP as well. Pretty much have to platoon Alonso though so he doesn't hit his vesting option. RHP: Jay CF, Moncada 3B, Eloy LF, Abreu DH, Alonso 1B, Castillo C, Palka LF, Anderson SS, Sanchez 2B LHP: Jay RF, Sanchez 2B, Eloy LF, Abreu 1B, Castillo C, Anderson SS, Moncada 2B, Palka/Rondon DH, Engel CF

Thoughts on the Sox shifting Moncada to 3b?
I think his natural position is actually 3B. That is where I beleive he played the majority of the time in Cuba. I do believe he said last season his preferred position is 2B, but he has said recently he is totally good with playing 3B.
-
White Sox Sign Alcides Escobar
Rondon is a natural SS that was regarded as great defender as a prospect. Leury has also been hitting the ball super well in ST, so unless the Sox are trading him, I doubt they just let him go.

Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
True. Can't imagine Castellanos would be THAT expensive either. He's a pretty terrible OF so basically can be put into 1B/Dh category. 4/$60M seems reasonable.
-
White Sox Sign Alcides Escobar
I think they start with 12 pitchers with all the off days and inevitable rainouts early in the season. Abreu, Sanchez, Anderson, Moncada, Eloy, Engel, Palka. Jay, Rondon, Leury and McCann.
-
White Sox Sign Alcides Escobar
Rondon kind of has to make the roster at this point though. Why put him through waivers for Escobar? They need a backup infielder and Leury can't be the only guy. Unless Mendick magically makes the roster.

Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
Yah man, heart crushing end to the season. Just lost their swagger a few weeks ago and couldn't get it back. Pretty sure we hear about Markus getting wrist surgery in the next few days...he just wasn't right, but that certainly wasn't why we lost yesterday. Oh well, I have baseball to look forward to for the next couple weeks until I quickly realize we're looking at another 90+ loss season.

I am just spitballing dude. Someone said there is no where to spend the money. There are obviously still guys to spend money on.
