We get it dude. No one likes the move. It happened. Kevan Smith still sucks. James McCann also sucks. One costs like $1.75M more than the other. Not a huge deal. No is complaining about not having money to keep the core together. Some comments from the FO (mainly KW) have been taken out of context. At the end of the day, the White Sox decided that they didn't want to guarantee a declining and aging 35 and 36 year old Manny Machado over $25M per. 95% of us don't agree with it, but it is what it is now.

Per DVS on twitter, this will be the lineup: *edit* - he clarified that this is his "projected" OD lineup. Garcia CF, Moncada 3B, Abreu 1B, Alonso DH, Eloy LF, Palka RF, Anderson SS, McCann C, Sanchez 2B Mostly dig it. I like Garcia getting the nod over Engel. Still not a huge fan of Moncada in the 2 hole, but I guess that just going to be the way it is. A little surprised to see McCann in over Wellington, but I get the feeling that Ricky prefers McCann.

Other than drafting him in 2 fantasy leagues in the past 36 hours, I've never wanted someone to fail more. Mainly so I can stop seeing his fucking name mentioned 976 times per day on here.

Kevan Smith is a great guy. He'll likely also be out of major league baseball before this season is over, and he's at best a coin's flip to return. He isn't very good. The hand wringing over this move is silly. And that is coming from someone that pretty much hates everything about the McCann signing, though as Y2J mentioned, the two are mutually exclusive.

I hate seeing this dudes name every damn time I log into Soxtalk. Its time to move on.

Oh I agree, but I think this team is much better than the Orioles, Royals and Tigers who the sox play 19 of our first 30 games. I don't think 12-7 or better in those 19 games is that big of a reach.

Jay did not play much CF this spring. 15 innings in CF, 41 in RF, and 0 in LF. I don't think Jay is going to the the primary CF at any point this season like many of us expected. Bad news for the Adam Engel haters, though I expect Leury to get 75% or so of the starts in CF to start the season.

A lot of rain in the forecast for Thursday and Friday. May be tough to get this one in. 90% chance of thunderstorms both days.

We're in for a super long season if the team ends this stretch less like .425 ball. The schedule is so easy to start and the Royals (6 games), Tigers (7 games) Orioles (6 games) should all be markedly worse than the Sox this season. Those teams are dreadful.

Not as bad as those teams though. Take a look for yourself. The AL Central is so comically bad.

One of the beat guys, can't recall which one, Fegan or DVS I believe, has already said Santana will make his debut on 4/10 barring a setback in extended ST.

Correct his option was already used. I believe this is his final option year however.

Yah I’m aware. I guess it’s just how it works, just seems odd to me that’s all. It’s not like he was guaranteed a bullpen spot. Plenty of guys who spent a month in the roster last season are in charlotte.

Yah I suppose. I would think they’d be more interested in service time than option years for him, but probably not much of a concern either way for him. I would think he’ll be up for good when he comes back, and won’t spend enough time in AAA to matter. Just found it interesting seeing as though he spent minimal amount of time in roster last year and didn’t hurt myself playing in the bigs like Kopech did which why he’s on major league dL.

Why would the Sox put Hamilton on the major league DL? Why wouldn't they option him first?

Minaya is dinged up and was just removed from 40 man. Doubt its gonna be him. Nicky was just optioned, so I'd surprised if it was him, though that would be the natural choice if he had not been optioned last week. I don't even think hes in AZ with the team.

He was. Not sure if they'll add him to 40 man in the next 48 hours or not. Probably depends on the language in his contract. But he is either going to be added to 40 man, and then shifted to 10 day DL, or he's going to AAA to make a start or two and will be added in 10 days or so. Its already been announced by beat guys that he's making his first start 4/10, so he won't be on the roster until then.

Could be Preston Tucker too, or just another reliever. Marshall maybe.

@ KC 2-1 @ Cle 1-1 vs. Sea 1-2 vs. Rays 2-1 @ NY 1-2 vs. KC 2-1 @ DET 2-2 @ BAL 2-1 vs. DET 2-1 vs. BAL 2-1 17-13. Honestly felt like I wasn't being overly optimistic either. That is a super favorable schedule, and the Sox could easily get off to a hot start.
