Patrick Corbin signing for 6/$140 million to Nats
Scherzer, Strasburg and Corbin is a nice top 3. Have to imagine the Nats are going to be a real challenge for Bryce.

Patrick Corbin signing for 6/$140 million to Nats
Because paying a good not great starter $23.5M per over 6 years in his 30s is asinine.

6 year deal is crazy. That is going to be Wei-Yen Chen bad contact.

I would bet Yankees, with Phillies shortly behind.

Kyle Seager
Off-topic, but wanted to make sure you see it. Any intel on if the Sox are going to be in on Kikuchi?

White sox active in starting pitching market
I am sure they'd love to have him, but whoever signs him is going to be disappointed in a few years (or less), so I am glad it won't be our Sox.

Corbin isn't signing with the Sox. It isn't even worth discussing. He's a childhood Yankee fan, he is from NY and the Yankees are interested. He's going to be a Yankee.

Kyle Seager
I have always been a Seager fan, but I am not taking him unless the M's want to pay down half his contact and give him away for nothing, or they want to send someone like Mallex Smith or Jared Kelenic with him. At this point, hard to rule anything out with Dipoto. Not sure WTF he's doing.

Castillo the starter, Sox still looking to add
I wouldn't end Collins catching days just yet. He could still provide a ton of value even as a part time catcher. No rush in moving him to 1B fulltime, IMO.

Mariners to send Segura to Phillies for Santana/JP Crawford/others?
If so, yes, indeed a fleecing.

Mariners to send Segura to Phillies for Santana/JP Crawford/others?
Not so much if Sixto Sanchez is in deal as poster above said, but I haven't personally seen those rumors.

Mariners to send Segura to Phillies for Santana/JP Crawford/others?
So far we got: Phillies Receive: Segura, Nicasio and Pazos Mariners Receive: Carlos Santana and JP Crawford Have to imagine there is at least one prospect of note going to the Mariners.

Mariners to send Segura to Phillies for Santana/JP Crawford/others?
If JP Crawford is still a top 25 prospect, that means Moncada is still the best prospect in the game.

I don't think the Sox are involved with Corbin, whether that is do to his lack of interest or the Sox. He did his eastcoast tour of teams last week and speculation is he will sign soon, and there has been virtually no recent mention of the Sox. He is signing with Philly or more likely the Yanks.

Castillo the starter, Sox still looking to add
Yah, I think regardless Collins is probably a part time catcher, part-time 1B/DH in the mold of early career Carlos Santana/Evan Gattis/Mike Napoli. So, I don't think signing Grandal necessary means "Collins has no role behind the plate for this org", but it definitely would be a strong statement that they don't see him as the full time catcher of the future.

Castillo the starter, Sox still looking to add
I am cool with a veteran backstop on a cheap deal for this season. Someone like Wieters, Vogt, or Mesoraco. I wouldn't hate Grandal depending on price, but wouldn't be my first choice of places to extend big dollars.

The Mariners seem ripe for the picking right now.

Morosi: White Sox interested in "both Machado and Harper"
Not very much. $3M for Bonifacio and $2M for Gordo in 2015. Peanuts is todays game. But I agree...its nice to have internal options like Yolmer and Leury, even though at this point they're making close to the same amount. Yolmer and Leury are fine part-time/bench/2 week DL stint fill-ins, but neither should be getting everyday at bats.

2018-9 MLB off season free agency thread
Anyone know is Vogt is healthy enough to play next season? Know he had a major shoulder operation. Isn’t a great defensive catcher, but would be a great weak side of the platoon with Castillo and imagine would cost virtually nothing.
