  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) I would be shocked if it is. Considering how he was used, despite him not being the greatest, it was a sign of the towel being waved. Of course, except for Sale and Q, most of the Sox "chips" can probably clear waivers. Who, exactly? Frazier, Melky, Robertson, Gonzalez, Lawrie, Eaton aren't clearing waivers.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:59 AM) For Jharel Cotton...their #13 prospect. Has to be more. And the Dodgers can't expect Hill to push them over hte top. He's been good, but I wouldn't get too excited about him pushing them through in a playoff series. Holmes, Montas and Cotton. Not bad for 2 months of 2 slightly above average players.
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 27m27 minutes ago Some rumblings in recent days about a deal that could send Yasiel Puig to the White Sox for James Shields. @Buster_ESPN says CWS want Puig. I approve of this trade. Actually floated it last night before this talk came up.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) While there is a possibility Dodgers are going to swing Reddick/Puig out to us, I'd put it more likely that we're done. If we do sell in the offseason, I hope it is without our current management. If we buy... The Sox aren't done. They may not blow the whole thing up, but they're not done. And Reddick would hold no appeal to the Sox. He's a FA at year end.
  5. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) Dodgers made their move. Reddick and Hill. For Jharel Cotton...their #13 prospect. Has to be more. And the Dodgers can't expect Hill to push them over hte top. He's been good, but I wouldn't get too excited about him pushing them through in a playoff series.
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:48 AM) From Dave Cameron's deadline chat today: Jimmy: Benintendi/Rodriguez/Devers/Swihart for Sale. Deal? Dave: That's a big overpay for Boston. C'mon Dave, big overpay? Benintendi and Devers are the only two that excite me. Rodriguez is a meh back of the rotation arm for me. Swihart is a throw in. Benintendi excites me, and Devers is a definitely a nice prospect, but further away. I wouldn't be only OKAY with that trade for Q, not for Sale.
  7. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) Puig for Shields straight up will never happen. Puig doesn't have much value.
  8. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) White Sox intrigued of Benintendi, ERod, Swihart, and Devers package from Red Sox for Chris Sale. NOOOOOOOOO
  9. What's gonna be most frustrating to me is if Sale is moved, but Sox hold onto pieces like Frazier, Melky, Robertson, Shields, Gonzalez. If you trade Sale, trade everyone cause you're going to suck anyway. I don't think he's going to get traded, but we're sort of running out of time to make other moves if he is.
  10. QUOTE (FT35 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:56 AM) I'm sure it was just a fabrication of my mind. I occasionally see random paragraphs of text on my computer screen for no reason at all. I read and comprehend the content that is pertaining to today's events even though they do not exist. Hey...gotta go, I am going to eat this banana that just popped out of my DVD drive. I'll make sure to post more delusional content later. haha, wait...what?
  11. QUOTE (FT35 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:40 AM) Rosenthal just removed a tweet after 3 minutes that said BREAKING: White Sox Red Sox agree on Sale. Sox would receive Benintendi and Devers as a part of the deal. No Moncada. Those guys are good...but if we trade Sale and it doesn't bring back a team's #1 prospect...wow. Are we sure it was the real Rosenthal? edit: someone beat me to it. Thanks for sharing, FT35.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:28 AM) If the reports are true and the best prospect in this package is someone ranked where Avi Garcia was ranked when we got him, you laugh and keep Chris Sale. Period. While I agree that the Sox should only trade Sale or Q if the return in unprecedented, I find it very hard to believe the Sox haven't gotten at least some offers that include top 20 prospects. Both of their values dwarf the values of some guys that have been traded for top 20 talent within the past couple weeks. That doesn't mean the package was sufficient, but there's no way Sale/Q hasn't garner an offer including a blue chip prospect. But that's not going to stop Soxtalk from saying "we could have have Benintendi, Moncada, and Kopech for Sale. Hahn is such an idiot."
  13. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 09:20 AM) whitesoxdave ‏@barstoolWSD 3m3 minutes ago Chicago, IL Just texted my guy. "It's crazy how quiet it's been... I got nothing" Life is awesome being a White Sox fan, said nobody His source probably realized he should stop leaking info to this guy.
  14. ChiSox59 replied to harkness99's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Agreed on Sanchez. Saladino should be at 2B everyday until Brett comes back.
  15. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:58 PM) If the Red Sox won't include Moncada or Benintendi....then give us Devers + Eduardo Rodriguez. 3B Devers, SP Rodriguez, SP Kopech, 3B Chavis, and OF Basabe for Quintana. No thanks.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:25 PM) For me any Sale deal starts with Moncada, Ben, and Kop. If they aren't willing, too bad. And yes, I am willing to wait until the offseason. Really that simple.
  17. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) One reason for stagnation over the past 10 years has been terrible scouting and talent evaluation. That resulted in bad trades and some wasted first round Draft picks like Beckham, Fulmer, Courtney Hawkins, Jared Mitchell. If better decisions had been made I have no doubt that Reinsdorf would have given management what they needed to get free agents to become competitive. Fulmer is a wasted 1st round pick now? Lol, so many quality posts on here today.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:17 PM) We've been repeating the word patience for nearly a decade. Clock is ticking. Pirates, Yanks and Padres are running circles around us. Pirates Yanks and Padres? Lol
  19. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) I don't know if you'll ever get the right return for Sale that's fair to the Sox. But is Moncada, Benintendi, Devers and Kopech and Vasquez taking less in your opinion? Pretty sure Hahn would take that deal. But I highly doubt anything remotely close to that has been offered.
  20. QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) IF Sale and Quintana really are on the market, then waiting isn't smart. As others have mentioned, the true value of Sale and Q is cost control and age. Every start they make for the White Sox diminishes that value. Waiting a "year or two from now" will substantially lessen their value. Additionally, I'm incredibly uncomfortable with the thought that Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams STILL don't know what lane to pick, and if they believe they can't get proper value for these pitchers, they'll just hold on to them and once again try and make 2017 and 2018 work by piecing together another 78 win team. No one is willing to pay for their current value, otherwise they'd have been moved! Patience.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) Therein lies the problem, however. Their trade value decreases as you wait longer...because those years of control are lessening. It's obvious that no one is willing to pay the requisite price at the moment. Hahn hasn't and shouldn't blink. We'll see if someone else does. No reason to comprise and get what you can get in a year or two from now just to make a trade. That's my point.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:05 PM) Duke is just another body. He's nothing special. The outfielder we got obviously is a bust to this date or St. Louis wouldn't have traded him. This will probably be his final chance to be a starter in the bigs. Lol, at least try to understand the game.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) Well it goes back to Dick's real estate analogy again...if you have a $10 million house, it may take you a LONG time to get fair value, or else you may need to sell it for less than market value, due to a lack of buyers. I think Baron's point is that Sale and Q aren't doing anything for us on our roster...so maybe the only alternative is to take a little less than market value. I would suggest you wait until the offseason if that is the case, but you can't really just keep holding them and saying "I'm not getting the 5 prospects I desire." Sure you can. You can just wait a couple years until their price gets to a point in which a team is actually willing to pay. You don't just give up years of control of underpaid aces just to move on. You get full value, or you wait.
  24. A little off the wall idea, but I wonder if the Sox would have any interest in taking Puig back in a lesser deal. I don't think his value has fallen enough for the Dodgers to do a Shields - Puig swap, or even a Robertson - Puig swap, but it would be a way to get a higher ceiling bat for the next couple years and an affordable price. Admittedly I am just spit balling, but it'd be a White Soxy move and we know this FO has has interest in Puig before.
  25. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 06:23 PM) heyman reporting Sale to dodgers done No he is not.
