  1. An article on the official team website list Franklin Reyes as 6'3 205lbs, Tatis Jr. as 6'3 185lbs, Vasquez as 6' 170lbs and Nova as 6'1 170lbs
  2. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) http://mobile.sportingnews.com/article/464...co%2FOBWHx8XJTJ Austin Meadows and change
  3. QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 05:49 PM) He's very small bally, and he loves to bunt. Not really a fan of that. He detest metrics
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) The NHL and NBA have world wide drafts. I think the MLB can manage. The NHL draft selects 210 players all from North America and Europe, the NBA draft selects 60 players again mostly from North America and Europe. The MLB draft selects +1200 players as it is, and if they do an international draft they would dealing with third world nations, not to mention the system is pretty corrupt as it is.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) ok but i wrote this.. so re your comment, how does that pertain to me? You brought up the draft
  6. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 09:01 AM) http://mweb.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-h...proposed-dealsv White sox are listed #10. Suggesting shark traded to the blue jays for catching prospect Max Pentecost I'd rather have Jeff Hoffman
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 08:44 AM) i remember talking about Bo Porter, and i like him a lot. i am intrigue with Hyde, but in some of his profile, reminds me of a little of RV. i also like Mike Maddux, he skilled, was successful pitcher, a in your face manager. plus he is still in the major league level coaching. on the outside, for me Dave Martinez and Joey Cora. my list 1) Maddux 2) Porter 3) Martinez 4) Hyde. now this list is based on my opinion and by default subjective. What about Hyde reminds you of Robin? I don't see the comparison
  8. If you want to know how f***ed the system is, just take a look at Micker Adolfo. He is a natural born American citizen, from the Virgin Islands but because he felt that the draft would pay no attention to him, his family uprooted themselves, left American soil and headed for the DR, a third world country. Hold on, don't say anything and think about that for a moment....... U.S. Citizens moving to a foreign country so that they can gain employment from a US company that essentially holds a legal multi billion dollar monopoly. In what world does that even make sense? Would an international draft slice that problem and stop things like this from happening, I don't know. The draft would allow for more corruption.
  9. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 10:23 AM) The draft when you think about it, isnt that realistic of a possibility, as far as Latin America is concerned. Why would the DR subject themselves to becoming the new Puerto Rico? The league would also have to navigate Venezuela, which is going through a period of civil unrest and relations between them and America aren't exactly friendly right now. Plus as Ben Badler wrote, scouts are terrified to go there and stay for an extended period of time. Mlb would have to make sure that they're in accord with all the various labor laws, will the Mexican League just give up all of its power, and the logistics.... how many rounds, what about undrafted players, hard slots or bonus pools, etc. Its a nightmare waiting to happen
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 08:22 AM) looking at that point, you do make a excellent best case scenario. however, and this is on me, the int'l draft will be changing, the question is when. the only way to look at the negative side on that, the major talent potential is nice is this yr. now i am not saying that talent next yr is bad, i am saying the major potential is this yr. The draft when you think about it, isnt that realistic of a possibility, as far as Latin America is concerned.
  11. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) I thought Macha was against Advanced Stats. Maybe not. Ron Washington wouldn't be bad, but his life was in spirals when he left Texas. Not a fan of Bud Black or Ron Roenicke. I wanted Dave Martinez last time around, so I'd give him an interview. If he dosen't get a managing job, it would be a huge boost to the org to have Bud Black join the org, in a player development capacity. Him and Coop in the same org, but I would be shocked if he isn't managing.
  12. Wow this guy is pretty accomplished and again, the sox should hire him. After several years in the Cardinals’ brain trust as an analyst, Correa was promoted to director of amateur scouting. That position oversees a staff of more than 20 scouts who fan out around the country to evaluate amateur talent. It is the same position that Luhnow held for seven seasons before leaving the Cardinals to become Houston’s general manager in 2011. In 2009, Correa left a doctorate program at the University of Michigan to work on a contract basis with Luhnow, then director of amateur scouting and farm director for the Cardinals. Among Correa’s early duties was taking statistics from college baseball and merging them with the scouting evaluations the Cardinals had in a system that was called STOUT. Later, Correa used his background in psychology and research to help the Cardinals identify and measure leadership qualities, how a player handled failure, and other traits associated with high-level success. Correa helped the team advance those evaluation tools after joining the front office full time. He was promoted to manager of baseball development in 2012.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 11:09 PM) Holy f*** no. That shows you that the Red Sox wouldn't make good trade partners
  14. Haven't had this much fun talking about a slave trade, since me and the other black students at UIC got together every February for our Black History brunch. This is so f***ed up is not even funny.
  15. QUOTE (AlSoxfan @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) Well if what he does is steal other scouts work then maybe he's not such a good scout after all????? That was not the point of the hack, the point of the hack was to see if the Astros stole any sensitive materials from the Cardinals
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 07:09 PM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/red-...-in-trades.html Quintana? What would you accept for Q from the Red Sox? Trey Ball, Michael Kopech, cash of some sort.

  18. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 03:07 PM) So today is the day to finally start talking about this? After the now infamous Shark debacle, I had enough.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) No mention of Mendoza, don't know what that means. Chicago White Sox ‏@whitesox 6m6 minutes ago Chicago, IL White Sox have agreed to terms with four international FAs: OF Franklin Reyes & IFs Brayant Nova, Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Santo Vasquez The White Sox expect additional Latin American signings in the coming months. Mendoza is probably a smaller signing
  20. I have been a pretty big Robin supporter over the course of his tenure but after the past 10 games I have had enough, I think that White Sox should part ways with Robin Ventura. Getting rid of Robin won't solve all the problems that plague the team but it would be a step in the right direction. I really want Rick Hahn to hire his own manager and with that manager establish a culture of winning, where they teach and approach the game the same way throughout the entire organization (DSL to MLB). Let me start off by mentioning two names: Bo Porter and Brandon Hyde. Porter was the manager of the Astros from 2013 to 2014, I think that despite the fact that the Astros were clearly tanking (to steal an NBA term) and= had a terrible roster, they still played pretty hard and played from the games that I have seen. And he taught the young players on the team how to play the right way, he deserves credit for the way the Astros are playing now in my opinion. When he was looking for a manager GM Jeff Luhnow wanted a guy that was akin to Joe Maddon, and those guidelines lead him to Porter, who also is not afraid to bring sabremetrics into the dugout. Lunhow said, “Bo understands and appreciates the effect technology and the analytical side has had on the game... He wants to not only accept it, but take it and let it impact the organization. I think he will help us continue to apply some of the things we’ve been working on.” Reports about Porter being too intense and his displeasure with his overall involvement in the org's decisions came out around the time of his firing. I think that Porter would bring some forward thinking to the dugout and an intense mentality to the team, while bringing his track record in player development with him. Brandon Hyde is a former White Sox farmhand. He managed in the Marlins farm system from 2005 to 2009. He became the Marlin's bench coach in 2010 and served as their interim manager in 2011. In 2012 Theo brought him over to the Cubs, where he was the farm director and the Director of Player Development, he served as Rick Renteria's bench coach and he is currently the Cub's first base coach under Joe Maddon. Rant Sports had this to say about Hyde, "Hyde is known as a great strategist and a true student of the game. In fact, one exec even went so far as to tell me, 'He can flat manage a game. If it had to go down to it, I would want him managing my Game 7.' Hyde is also known for maintaining great relationships with his players, and he has a successful background in developing young players, which could make him attractive to a team in rebuilding mode." Mentor Jack Mckeon had this to say about Hyde, "When I took the (manager's) job to finish (2011), I thought he'd have a chance to replace me... He was very-well prepared, very aggressive. He wasn't afraid to jump on somebody if they needed to be jumped on, which a lot of coaches don't want to do. But he was on top of the game. He was always keeping me sharp on what you want to do, in situations he was always ready for advice. He was ahead of the game." That's some pretty high praise. THis is someone who has worked their way up the ladder and despite being 41 years old, he has extensive experience in the dugout alongside of the modern greats and he comes from a player development background. These are just the first two guys that popped into my head. Who do you want the team to hire as their next manager? What kind of qualities do you want to next manager to have?
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) From the rumors before, signing Guerrero alone would have busted their pool for this year. I'm not as high on him as most people are, I think he has maxed out frame.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:45 AM) That is going to be interesting. With so many teams over, they aren't going to vote for penalties. I would assume there will be none. Exactly why 2016 is the year to break the bank. Its been said to be a stronger class too
  23. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) 12 teams are not going to be able to sign a player for over 300K next year and the majority of those 12 teams are traditionally the biggest spenders. The Sox are in great shape for next year. So since the biggest spenders are out, that could translate to the top guys signing for less money when compared to the top guys this year.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) They aren't this year. They will be again next year and the year after. I would assume that the penalties are going to carry over to the international draft?
