When do you fire Robin?
You guys can be angry that the Sox are losing, that's completely understandable. And you can not like the outcomes of the decisions that management and Robin have made so far in the front office and in the field. What me angry with White Sox fans who desperately want Robin to be fired, is that they fail to see that he is doing the best with his current situation, I don't disagree with his decision to take Sale out of the game and bring in a reliever. Chris Sale already that point already threw 107 pitches in the game with Pedroria up to bat, Pedoria sees a average of 4.4 pitches per at bat, which based on his average would've brought Sale's pitch count to 111 in a game where the team is up 4 runs to zero, these are the same fans who criticized Robin when he let's Sale pitch 120 pitches in a game. What did Robin did today was conventional baseball wisdom in my opinion, he saw that his ace was starting to tire and he moved to the bullpen and put in a guy in Petrika who has been doing well as of fairly recently. If this move works out then Robin is a hero, if it doesn't then.. well we have a topic like this in the forum. It's okay not to like the outcome of Robin's moves, I have a problem with people who fail to see the reasoning in his decision making. And for those of you who still yearn for Addison Reed to be on the team, but let ask you this how many easy, 1-2-3 inning saves did he have while he was the closer? People always said that he makes thing too interesting to be comfortable while he was the closer and people even wanted him to lose his job to Nate Jones. If I were Rick Hahn and a team offered me a young, potential cornerstone third baseman for my closer, I would take that deal in a second. Rant over

Garcia cleared for baseball activity
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) 1) This is stupid. He has athleticism, it's just he got bad reads. You have no idea how his body will hold up. Manny didn't fit the body type, you can argue Andruw Jones didn't later in his career. 2) Why? What reasoning? And stop trying to put Abreu at DH unless his glove is actually hurting the team, which it isn't. 3) ...ok, this just is griping just to gripe. The guy is 6'4 and 240 pounds as a 23 year old, it's not unreasonable to assume that his body will continue to get 'bigger' or that he will loose some of his athleticism and speed as he continues to get older. You can put him at first base where he instantly becomes one of the more athletic first basemen in the game and he has the tools to be a plus defender at first long term, I can't say the same with confidence if he stays in the OF, and maybe if he is still getting bad reads on the ball at this level maybe the OF isn't the place for him long term. I have no problems with Abreu playing 1B, I think he is an underrated defensive player and because his bat is so good that his skills on the field go unnoticed. I am not advocating that the Sox move Abreu to DH so he can focus on his bat full time, I'm saying that the Sox should consider moving Garcia out of the OF because that allow them more flexibility when they build the lineup and the roster. Hell, Garcia could DH full time and I would support that decision.

Trade Winds is open
I would love to see the Sox be sellers at the deadline, I don't think that their window is open yet and maybe two or three years away from being legit AL contenders, remember that they lost 99 games last year. The only guys who I consider to be untouchable are Sale, Quintana (Although if the 'right' deal came along I would move him.), Abreu, Eaton and Garcia. If I am Rick Hahn, I am putting Danks, Ramirez, Dunn and Beckham all on the block and see what offers come my way, I would put an emphasis on taking back position players to add to the system.

Garcia cleared for baseball activity
Garcia is not the prototypical outfielder in terms of body type, and his speed will leave him as his body continues to grow and you'll find guy with bodies like his either playing first or DHing. I think that Garcia could be a plus defender at first and maybe even an upgrade at first over Abreu, who's glove hasn't been that bad in his defense. Plus if you have Abreu and Garcia as your 1B/DH it allows to put another athlete in the outfield, which could help out the teams defense. And can he please switch out of #26, it looks horrible on him.

7/8 Games
Another hit for Micker is very good to see. I know that he dosent have the greatest batting average but keep in mind that gets a 17 year old playing with guys 2 to 4 years older than him. When judging and evaluating him as a prospect don't put too much on his numbers at the plate. I think that he ends the year as a top 10 prospect for the Sox.

Garcia cleared for baseball activity
If I were Robin, I would move Garcia to 1B full time and move Abreu to DH, that would allow me to get more athletic in the field and could fill some holes for the team going forward. (And if anyone thinks that the Sox are going to contend for a playoff spot/make the playoffs this year is insane, and I think Rick Hahn knows that. The 'rebuilding' effort wasn't to going to be a one year thing. It is more beneficial to the Sox if they deal guys like Dunn, Danks, Ramirez and Viciedo so that they can bring up and see what they have in guys like Matt Davidson and Micah Johnson, etc. And most importantly they get a higher draft and more money to spend on the intl markett, which is more beneficial to the long term health of the franchise than making the playoffs.)

When Does Flowers Get Replaced As Everyday Catcher?
When they trade John Danks to the Yankees for Gary Sanchez and other prospects.

Yanks want Danks?
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 12:55 PM) That would be a gigantic haul. No way that happens. If Danks gets moved, it may be similar to what we got back for Javy Vasquez I don't think is that gigantic, you're giving me 16 year olds who may never reach the major leagues for a proven major leauge pitcher plus you're too prospect. How bout the Sox send the Yankees Danks and the Sox get back Sanchez and two of those intl prospects.
-
Yanks want Danks?
For Danka, I would want back Gary Sanchez and maybe three of the INTL guys that they just signed, specifically Juan De Leon, Jonathan Amundary and Dermis Garcia and cash considerations.

Halos @ White Sox Start Time 10 Min Ago
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 09:38 PM) Indifferent because I think Coop controls the pitching staff. I just can't imagine Coop not speaking up if he thinks Robin is handling the staff wrong. Robin is an ex hitter, Coop is one of the most respected pitching coaches in the league, really think it's his call out there. Danks has always been a workhorse and he just had one of his best games ever against a damn good Angels team. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) Robin is just a disgrace.. It is not Robin's fault that the team can not score more than 2 runs in a game. And if Robin is the manager of the ball club than he has final say over everything, Cooper's job is to coach the pitching staff under Robin's supervision, not to make decisions. John Danks should have gotten the win tonight, and Robin didnt make a mistake by keeping him out there. If you want to blame anyone for giving away that lead, you should blame the team's offense. However the Sox win and you're point is invalid.

I called that HR by the way. That was a solid effort by Danks who has been pitching really well as of late, if I were Rick Hahn would put him on the trading block and try to move him at the deadline. There will be a team that will miss out on both Price and Samardzija at the deadline and they'll get desperate for pitching and will be willing to offer a lot for Danks.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 09:14 PM) Depends on if they can somehow trade Dunn. If he goes, they can DH Gillaspie and probably put him at 1B too. For now, I'm glad Davidson is hitting some in AAA. Maybe in 4 weeks, he'll be ready. Its the Jim Thome effect. I would promote Davidson in a month's time assuming he is still putting up solid numbers and I would move Gillapse to LF.

7/2 Games
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 08:47 PM) BACK OFF, BRO. Calm down, calm down. However, he might be the smartest draft pick the Sox have made in a while.

I want to ask this to you guys as Connor is at the plate. If Davidson continues on the tear he is on at Charlotte, do you call him up to be the guy at third. What do you do with Connor?

7/2 Games
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 2, 2014 -> 06:58 PM) Trey is 1-2 with a 2B so far. Since June 1st, he has 7 HR and is hitting .340. He has gotten better every single month this season. If he can cut down on those K's significantly in July, I'd be for a promotion to W-S. Without a doubt, my favorite prospect in the system.

White Sox sign 4 on July 2 signing day
Not a fan of the idea of an international draft, I think that there is nothing wrong with the system that is in place.

White Sox sign 4 on July 2 signing day
Good haul for the White Sox this year, who are becoming major players international market thanks to Marco Paddy and his staff of scouts in Latin America, which is one of the moves that I think brought the team into the 21st century in terms of player development side of things. The team spread their money around and signed 4 players with high ceilings which brings more talent to the farm and they still have close to a million dollars left to spend. Yeah I would love to see the Sox splurge on guys like Micker Adolfo or Gilber Lara (Who went for $3.1 Million with the Brewers and who I believe to have been the best player available.) every year, but I liked that they were able to spread their money out and bring in a group of solid players instead of bringing in one elite player and a bunch of lower level prospects and they're probably going to sign a couple of those low tier guys with that remaining $923,000. Very good haul this year, and the future of the team continues to look brighter.

When do you fire Robin?
I think Robin has done a terrific job as manager and that the futility of the team makes him look worse than he is as a manager, which makes him under rated in my opinion. The White Sox are going through a rebuilding phase and I think Robin is the right manager to guide the team through it, and I think he'll be the manager when the team is ready to compete.

2014 International Signing Period
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 07:25 PM) There will be an international draft in the not too distant future, but until then we'll have to suffer through high revenue teams like the Yankees playing the system unfortunately. It completely makes sense why the Yankees are doing this, just sucks that they're doing it for the first time when we have a huge bonus allotment. An international draft is a terrible idea. I love how success is determined in the INTL by who can scout talent better, I believe that Starlin Castro was signed for $ 50,000. He was an under the radar prospect that the Cubs found and developed into a superstar. An international draft would completely kill that competitive nature in my opinon.

QUOTE (shoeless_joe21 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 10:29 PM) Adolfo wastes no time in proving he's embraced the organization's hitting philosophy by striking out in his first AB. He also walked.

2014 International Signing Period
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) The Yankees pretty much want to sign all of the best guys this period, and will just have a down signing period the following year. They will be capped on what they can offer international prospects next year I believe. I'm at work and not able to do the research, but it's something like they can't offer a prospect more than $200,000. The Cubs have stipulations like that this signing period because of their overages last year. You're right, I just wish the punishment was more severe.

2014 International Signing Period
If the Yankees want to spend over budget go ahead, but I hope they get the most severe punishment to send a message.

Garfein: Sox could trade Beckham for pitching
Trade Gordon while he's still hot at the plate. Nice hit against Verlander though, even better because it's front of Kate Upton. I was thinking of who some trade partner could be and I thought of San Francisco, Toronto, Baltimore and maybe the Dodgers who can trade for Gordon and move Dee Gordon to SS and Hanley at 3B.

Your Current Top 10
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 10:44 PM) That's one of the worst lists I've seen. How Davidson, Sanchez, Montas, Ravelo, Trey isn't on that list is bad. I honestly forgot that Davidson existed I'll put him at 6 and remove Johnson and I am not big on Sanchez. Montas would be 10, although I am not familiar with him at all.
