  1. Where has this Samardzija been? Coulda used you back in April bud
  2. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 08:47 AM) With most of our org playing for 1st place in their respective leagues I foresee a lot less movement. Leave Montas and Anderson in AA, Saladino is playing well in AAA as is the pitching staff. No reason to shake things up. I realize the need to push kids, but I want to see guys playing in pennant races while they are young. I would at least like to see some of these guys we drafted this year get moved to Kanny
  3. Anyone hoping we will see some post ASG movement in the minors? At this point, I wouldnt mind seeing Montas and Anderson see AAA, Peter see AA, and some of the 2015 guys see some time at Kannapolis. Also would like to see both Micah and Erik Johnson and Trayce come up to the big league club.
  4. That 3-4-5 of Adolfo, Zavala, and Zangari in the AZL has my interest piqued
  5. Alex Gordon carted off field just now, serious injury in collision with wall. Somewhere, caulfield sob softly into his pillow.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 04:23 PM) Ah, love walking on Lake. Lovely walk. I'd gladly walk to Bottom Lounge before ever going to Cork & Kerry again
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) You can't be telling me that the United Center is a better location and neighborhood then USCF. You can walk to anywhere on Randolph, Madison, Lake, Grand, etc. A lot of nice spots are walking distance away.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) For whatever reason, Sox fans are the only ones in Chicago who seem to hold the logic that not showing up makes them better fans. What an odd and incorrect generalization
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 03:53 PM) It isn't just the Cubs. The Bulls and Bears do the exact same thing. We all know what a great fan sight the United Center is, right? All of the great bars to hang out at Solider Field? All of those titles the Bears and Bulls have put up in the 2000's... Their attendance doesn't falter based on the record of the team. The Sox fan base continues to be different. Playoff appearances since 1990: Bulls = 18 Bears = 7 Neither of the teams has any competition in the city in their respective sports, so your comparison doesn't really hold much weight.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) How does making him DH help? I agree that AVI's defense is a huge negative and a reason why he'll probably never amount to that much, but I don't know that his bat plays at DH either. That said, if their is a taker for LaRoche and it provides freedom to see if Avi can play at DH and allow us to upgrade outfield defense, I'm okay with it. I think Avi is a decent enough bat to slot in at DH, but he definitely shouldn't be in the OF anymore.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) Wrigleyville did get better, but I still don't understand the appeal of being in a jam packed bar, paying ballpark prices, having to scream at the guy next to you for him to hear you. While I agree that I dont enjoy being in packed bars yelling at my friend a foot away from me, the appeal is that usually crowds and attractions like this bring energy and excitement. Sure, you get a lot of negative impact as well (Wrigleyville St. Patty's Day weekend is probably the worst place on Earth), but the excitement around games noticeably carries over. What is there to really do around the Cell? A couple bars? Tailgate in a 1/4 full lot? The Sox haven't really done anything to establish an atmosphere in the neighborhood. It can remain residential while still being fun to go to. They have just failed miserably at making their overall product the least bit exciting.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) He is right. It is also why teams like the Cubs get way more coverage in general. It is common sense. The Sox do themselves no favors when it comes to drawing attendance: 1.) Awful performances on the field year in and year out 2.) Neighborhood isn't really a destination for anything 3.) People from the organization criticize fanbase 25K for a last place team in the central and one of the worst teams in baseball actually seems like a pretty good turnout, so Im not really sure what he is criticizing. The team hasnt scored more than 4 runs in 24 home games, people go to baseball games to see offense, not pitching, that's just the truth of it. It's great to celebrate the new and old guard of the south side, but anyone questioning White Sox fans lack of interest is kidding themselves.
  13. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) Yes and the team collapsed down the stretch and all the pundits pointed at that move as huge reason why. MLBTR says AA will deal from the ML roster though. If thats the case, I can see a deal with Navarro coming back in some sort of package for Shark. Navarro is a FA after this season, that trade would be stupid.
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) I'm not sure I agree. I mean, I do agree that they need offense MORE than they need pitching, but the system is exactly loaded with surefire pitching prospects. 1. Sale 2. Quintana 3. Rodon 4. ??? 5. ??? Going forward, you have Fulmer who you feel really good about. Spencer Adams who you feel pretty good about, but it much more of a crapshoot. Erik Johnson is gravy at this point. Montas is still more likely a reliever than a starter. Next on that depth chart is Scott Carroll? JP Wendelken at some point? I don't know, I think we could really use Hoffman. We certainly don't have anything close to the depth to start looking away from pitching prospects when they're the best players offered, Seems that they envision Wendelken as a full-time reliever at this point. He's been in relief all season and exceling at it.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 08:57 PM) Attendance tonight is 17028. Why does no one support this enthralling team?!?!
  16. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 03:51 PM) Why would a team trying to contend trade away one of their starters? Same thing with the Jays and Travis, I am not sure any GM out there is willing to make his lineup worse to get a SP its just robbing Peter to pay Paul. If I am dealing with the Twins I want a SS (Polanco or Gordon) and Adam Brett Walker. Because Sano is the future at the position
  17. This might get heavy opposition here, but what would people think of Trevor Plouffe for Samardzija?
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) Since ~June 22, the Cubs have faced the #5, #1, #3, #19, and now #1 teams for ERA in series. The White Sox have faced the #14, #25, #1 (2 games), #12, and now #25 ERAs staffs in the league. That'll help. Doesnt look like it'll get any easier for the Cubs then as the Sox are a top 10 pitching staff according to FIP and xFIP.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) Hendricks, Lester and Arrieta (2 runs in last 30 innings) have been awesome lately. Should be a low scoring series. Yup, both teams coming in with good pitching and non-existent offense. The difference is some of the Sox bats are starting to hit whereas the Cubs have gone quiet.
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) I do not look forward to the Cubs/Sox series this year. At all. Why? We have Rodon, Sale, and Q vs. Kendrick, Lester, and Arrieta. I feel pretty good about those matchups.
  21. If the Yankees want Shark, Judge is the perfect return. Big power, good OBP, and an excellent fielder despite his monstrous size.
  22. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 08:21 AM) Anderson is #42 BA has never liked Sox prospects
  23. BA posted their midseason top 50 this morning, any sox on it?
