  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) I can see the list now, he's at 22. Whoops, you are correct. I was looking at the top 50 fantasy prospects. My mistake.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) BP has Anderson #22 on their top 50 midseason prospects. Montas made the just missed list. I think that was a typo on Twitter, I am seeing Anderson at 12 on the actual list. Surprisingly, he is ahead of JP Crawford.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:37 AM) It is pretty hard to plan a baseball team for 10 years from now. In 2 or 3 years, they probably felt they would have a better handle on their prospects. I wouldn't take this 3 year plan as their window for trying to win. I think they probably thought it was their window before they really started producing prospects who could contribute. Not counting Rodon and now Fulmer, most of their guys are a couple of years away from being players you could count on, if not more. But the Vice President stated it's the window in both those articles getting back to my point that he seems indecisive if it's a rebuild or a compete now situation. If they felt that their prospects were still a couple years away from making them a competitive organization, then it was really stupid to burn 2 picks this year on guys that probably wont be here when they are competing. What was the point of rushing Rodon up to the majors if he didnt have decent control or a third pitch?
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:14 AM) If you go back to the source article, instead of just reading the snippet on MLBTR, it states exactly that. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...liams/29738873/ Your quote is almost entirely what they quoted in the MLBTR piece and it still doesn't answer many of the questions I proposed. Why is there a 3 year plan starting this year when theyve been downright awful for 2 seasons now? Why is it only 3 years when their core is locked up for more? Why on Earth are they still holding out believing they can compete this year?
  5. Saw this MLBTR article over the weekend and was irked by this comment: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/whit...t-deadline.html How do they not know if they are rebuilding or competing right now? To me, that shows an incredible lack of foresight by the FO. When did this 3 year plan even start? Shouldnt we be 3 years into our plan by now (2013, 2014, 2015)? Also, why are they capping this at 3 years when they have Sale, Abreu, Q, Rodon, Fulmer, and Eaton for atleast 4 more seasons? Doesnt seem like they have any sense of direction which is troublesome as a fan. They came into this season claiming they would be competing for a postseason spot despite entering the season with black holes at C, 2B, and 3B...not to mention the complete regression by a myriad of other positions.
  6. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) Hate to break your guys heart but talking about swihart or Betts for quintana isn't going to happen. Phillies were wanting one of the 2 for starting a package for hamels which is a ace and boston wasn't going for it. There are numerous articles saying swihart is red sox future catcher and also saying that Betts isn't getting moved either. So yes quintana isn't a ace like Hamels and if boston isn't moving one of the 2 for hamels they are for sure not moving them for quintana. Now quintana has been doing his thing in the American League for the past 4ish years sofar and has gotten better but doesn't have the longer track record in the bigs like hamels. Actually, over the last 3 seasons, they have been incredibly similar in value, so you can't really make the argument that Hamels is an ace while Q isn't. In addition, Q is 5 years younger and much cheaper which makes him far more attractive to prospective teams IMO.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) Ugh. I don't see a fit with STL. We would need a huge headline player to start a deal, and I don't see Martinez being it. The other side is that I don't see STL wanting to give up enough to get Sale. Did you even read the article? Martinez will be worth 3/4's of Sale alone. And Grichuk? He's a 4.6-5.7 WAR player going forward. Way too valuable for a top 15 pitcher.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) Watching a Vine on him, he has his dads swing, whether that is good or bad... who knows. Doesnt have near the arm though
  9. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) 12 teams are not going to be able to sign a player for over 300K next year and the majority of those 12 teams are traditionally the biggest spenders. The Sox are in great shape for next year. Really hope that translates to Maitan
  10. Interested to see if the Sox made an offer to Eddy Julio Martinez
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Lets grab Martinez or Guerrero Jr and I'll be happy. Edit: also, Dodgers sign Alvarez for $16 mill and a few others for around $2 mill. Were only slotted for $2 mill to spend. They have to figure out a way to fix this system. Changes are coming after next year I believe. That's why it's important to take advantage in one of these next two signing periods and just blow past slot.
  12. QUOTE (CardinalsFan @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 01:39 AM) That's not a very nice comment, as it's stereotyping all Cardinals fans when very few of us actually possess the sort of arrogance to go out and call ourselves that. Good job White Sox. If a team's pitching is better than ours—hard to achieve—then they've probably got us beat, because offense isn't this team's thing. If it's any consolation, I would gladly exchange offenses with the Cardinals.
  13. The Sox have one hitter hitting above .270
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) So, are Reyes and Tatis the only ones were favored to sign for tomorrow? Looking like it. Reyes is so slow, he looks like he's walking when he's running.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 02:15 PM) Take a look here to see who's been hot down on the farm in June. Do you agree with the choices? Any questions people have on those players? Thanks for the write-up as always! You mention that Peter has a utility profile moving forward, do you think he has any chance of being able to stick at 2nd at the major league level? I loved the pick originally and his his type of approach is exactly what I would love to see more of on this club. Also, do you see Feliz making the move stateside before the end of the season or beginning of next year?
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) With his performance, and his contract, he is worth a top prospect. If not, you keep him. Yup. There is no reason to trade Quintana unless you are getting a boat full of good prospects or a surefire 1 or 2 prospects or young major leaguers.
  17. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 11:49 AM) Read the comments below the article. He acknowledges that the price would be high and does an impressive job doing so. He's not an idiot. A package centered around Mondesi and Manaea would be interesting, I think Mondesi will end up being a stud. .700+ OPS in AA as a 19 year old aint bad.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) This might sound very dumb, but I've come up with a solution I believe! Put Avi at third base the rest of the year. It really doesn't matter how many games we lose. If we could get him to be a decent third baseman, his offense is acceptable for third basemen nowadays. What do you say? Avi at third base? Mr. greg775, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
  19. I was somewhat surprised yesterday when I noticed that Avi's OPS has dropped to the very low 700's. I guess I shouldn't be though, as his recent free fall has been apparent to anybody paying attention. After digging a little deeper, I realized that I shouldn't be shocked at all. Across the last 3 seasons (all over 100 PA), Avisail has been the model of consistency. Not only has been a below replacement level player in all 3 seasons, but his wOBP, wRC+, K%, etc. have stay almost completely constant. He may be young and have plenty of room to grow still, but through 760 PA, it's likely we are seeing the player Avisail will always be. Coming back to Earth a little bit, I was interested in seeing how he compared to some other White Sox. I immediately regretted this decision. When comparing Avi's numbers against fan favorite Dayan Viciedo, I came to a very sobering realization: Avisail is a younger version of Dayan Viciedo. Don't believe me? Here are their career numbers: Avisail Garcia 760 PA 5.1 BB% 23.4 K% .132 ISO .272 AVG .316 OBP .403 SLG .316 wOBP 97 wRC+ -1.6 WAR Dayan Viciedo 1798 PA 5.3 BB% 21.6% .170 ISO .254 AVG .298 OBP .424 SLG .315 wOBP 95 wRC+ -0.9 WAR While he could make up ground over his next 1000 PA, Avi is largely the same player as Viciedo, maybe even slightly worse. His only positive UZR is in LF, a position in which the White Sox have never even tried him. I hope that the White Sox are smart enough to no longer be blinded by potential with Avi this offseason, there is nothing suggesting he is an ascending talent. It is either time to move him or utilize him in a different role.
  20. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) It was bad on paper though. Most sites predicted we'd be bad. The biggest indictment of Hahn is that he built one of the worst defensive teams I can ever recall. He did this despite knowing this team's strength would be pitching. Hahn has been garbage. Fire Hahn, KW, Bell...hell, fire everybody and start over. Pretty obvious over the last few weeks that Hahn isn't actually calling the shots
  21. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 10:03 AM) i can see the sox selling on Shark, if the deal is there. but i don't see valuable player coming back. i don't see signing a FA, esp if it requires giving up a draft pick as comp. so, seriously....... how will the sox fix the holes??? Then you dont trade him? I dont understand why everyone feels like the Sox should be receiving nothing for him. They will get a good prospect or two or have a comp pick.

    6/28 Games

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) Casey Schroeder starting his career off nicely. Been following him as well. Despite not being that exciting of a draft overall this year, a lot of the guys are off to nice starts. We'll see how they do when they move up though, dont want to put much stock into GF or AZL.
  23. How did no one even go to the mound that inning?
