Has Butler gotten a team over the hump elsewhere? Let’s not forget that the old FO surrounded Butler with Rondo a broken down Wade, and handed the coaching gig to boobs like Hoiberg and Boylen or whatever his name was. Those teams were maxed out as a regular playoff team never good enough to go all the way.

Eh, I'm pulling for AZ, but I really have no horse in the race. I think the D-backs have better pitching depth and with the next 3 at home have a huge advantage. Of course I don't want baseball to end, so I need some crazy chaos from Texas so this goes 6 or 7.

I hated the pick when it was made and nothing has swayed my view that it was a colossal mistake.

Of course he is ?. Still waiting for Getz to show he’s even remotely qualified for the gig…

She certainly knows more about baseball than you ever will. Just saying…

Eh. Philly was just last year. Would you rather NYY, Boston, Cleve, Det, Minny, or the Cubs make it regularly?

We Sox fans would never be so lucky…

At least it’s not Merkin blowing smoke in the standard off-season puff pieces…

Gotta love starting the offseason trying to put a positive spin on a whole lot of 'IFs'

So running back what didn’t work last season already isn’t working this season? Funny how that goes…

I'd rather be in the Phillies shoes than taking the White Sox approach of misallocated spending and random playoff appearances wishing and hoping on a prayer...

That one was a head scratcher.

Harper and Wheeler make this team look a lot different. So would have a Hinch hiring. But do Eloy and Moncada still essentially bust? Kopech and Gio massively regress? It's tough to say if they'd be World Series bound at any point between 2020 and now. We'd have a hell of a lot more hope though.

Rangers have an owner willing to spend on premier FA. Rangers hired a baseball person to run the baseball team. Rangers' prospects developed properly and didn't bust after injury or unearned high dollar extensions. Rangers didn't hamstring the FO with asinine short sided restrictions. Rangers reached out to a HOF manager who wasn't drinking away his twilight years while being out of the dugout for a decade.

Suck it Houston!

1-5 rapidly approaching ??

Huh, so the guy calling fans whiny 'beyatches' while telling them to just think positive is moving the goalposts again when proven wrong. Cute.

A 100 loss season isn't the result of bad luck...

I didn’t particularly want Castellanos because of his D, but the Sox sure chose every cheap internal worse option.

There are cheaper Merrifields. Don’t let the name overshadow how washed up he is.

Getz is the epitome of failing upward. He wasn’t qualified for his previous job in which he failed miserably, and he isn’t qualified for his new job with even more responsibility. My only hope is that he seems to have brought in a few new baseball people who are smarter than him and can help overcome his many deficiencies. This is still a Reinsdorf operation however, so Getz will get to fail continually and repeatedly without consequence. I wish him the best but even the greatest of baseball execs would struggle with the impossible task that lies ahead in fixing the White Sox.

I really want nothing to do with Merrifield. I watched plenty of Blue Jays last season and I just don't know what he brings to the table. Versatility is nice, but when you suck at everything, versatility hardly matters. He feels like another guy the Sox would overpay right before he drops off the cliff.

Step 1: List available former Royals. Step 2: Throw dart Step 3: Profit

Does JR immediately go back on his word about having a singular decision maker? Cuz bringing Ng in makes Getz completely irrelevant and unncessary. Not that he wasn't already.
