  1. Depth move for Seattle I guess. I’ll be surprised if he makes it out of camp or even sees Tacoma.
  2. Mariners have top prospects around the infield and just locked up Naylor, not sure what Sosa does for them. And with Julio in CF, Robert’s value to the M’s is diminished, unless he finds his All Star form at the plate.
  3. This. 2029 is still a long ways away, but there is at least some glimmer of hope off in the distance. We have no idea how Ishbia will run things, but at bare minimum, operating like an actual major league team would still be a vast departure from the past decade.
  4. If they are going to rush him, at least wait long enough for the extra year of control...
  5. Sox "aggressive" in mid pursuit
  6. White Sox and signing dudes I've never heard of. The more things change, the more they stay exactly the same...
  7. Bellinger is still a productive player, no? Meaning he would never sign here unless the offer blew every other out of the water? And we know who still owns the team, so we know that isn't the case.
  8. Before draft slot era, thier draft spending could be questioned, but not since. There are plenty of areas they deserve citicism, but spending thier draft allowance isn't one.
  9. I think the dreariness of how games in domes look is the biggest detractor for me. There needs to be ample natural light for it not to feel unnatural. But does that justify nearly twice the cost to have a roof that opens, but is never used? The cost savings make sense. Spend those dollars creating an actual baseball atmosphere inside over drab concrete and fluorescent lighting, and I dont think too many fans will lament a fixed roof in those climates. .
  10. Vegas and TB aren't exactly pleasant to be outdoors in the summer. Does the 1-2 months the roof might be open justify the cost? IDK. And I say this as someone who hates baseball in a dome.
  11. Pete got paid, but this reeks of desperation for the O’s IMO.
  12. I think we can all agree that Quero only playing twice a week is dumb and he needs to play to keep developing. 1B may not be ideal long term, but it’s better than him riding the bench burning service time for nothing.
  13. But where will precious Vargas play? That’s the reason why.
  14. Seriously. Makes little to no sense for the Sox. Is Bruce shiiling for a former Cub trying to come back stateside?
  15. The problem with all three of those guys is that they aren’t an ideal fit at any position around the diamond, save for Baty at 2B. Hard to be excited about two corner infield spots begging for an upgrade.
  16. If no-bat utility guys were the best we could get for Robert at the deadline, I can't imagine the offers will be better now with a $20M price tag.
  17. Getzy knows this isn't the good Acuña, right?
  18. Let’s see if Getz actually shows…
  19. That’s a lot of money for a dude who has had little success. Seems like a very Hahn pen signing. edit - if he’s a rotation piece, the signing makes a lot more sense, and the price tag isnt so terrible.
  20. If only they had the capacity to feel embarrassment.
  21. Wasn't ready, or qualified, and certainly hasn't proven he's capable.
  22. And he will be 30 and headed to free agency before they are good again. I'll keep the 22 y/o.
  23. Agree 100%. Is Cease worth a $30M AAV in a vacuum? And for 7 years? Probably not. But was he one of the best available arms this winter for a team clearly in their window in one of the toughest divisions? Absolutely. If the Jays win the East and play in the World Series over half of this deal, they won’t regret it at all. It’s the price of competing at the highest level.
