  1. Sox should have signed him before he went to the Nats or Phillies. Now? No shot.
  2. What team would acquire Benintendi to stick him a DH? This scenario is even less likely than a team seeing him as am upgrade in LF.
  3. Of all of the guys they could have hired, these are two. 🤷‍♀️ Maybe it’s the apathy talking, but I have no strong feelings whatsoever about these hires. Coming from the Marlins and Royals isnt overly inspiring, but last I checked both orgs are in better shape that the Sox so who knows.
  4. Bottom 5-6 seems fair, but far too early for predictions before seeing how many other teams make no effort to improve in FA.
  5. To be fair, this probably applies to any of the low cost stopgaps that would sign here.
  6. The players don’t control how much the owner budgets to drafting, development, analytics, INT scouting, or to the major league payroll. The players have next to no impact on team construction. Every successful rebuild requires outside acquisitions somewhere. Perhaps the owner isn’t responsible for individual wins on a day to day basis, but to suggest ownership has no impact on winning is silly.
  7. Nearly 30 years ago. A baseball eternity.
  8. Wheeler has been great for the Phillies, and he would have been a force at the top of the rotation here, but 26 y/o generational talents don’t come around very often on contracts that would be bargains after a few years. Losing out on Wheeler didn’t set the organization back the way bungling Machado & Harper did.
  9. There was certainly a correlation between being over Vaughn and wanting Elko to get a shot. Simply being better than AV was a pretty low bar and I think generally that’s where most people’s hopes were.
  10. I had no idea Skubal had already accrued that much service time. He’ll be 30 by the time he signs in FA if he gets there. As great as he is now, how many CY Young level years does he have left to be seeking $250M more than what’s being offered?
  11. Yesavage is on another level than any of these guys, and still his jump is massive outlier. Sox are going to need a lot more than a breakout season or two to even sniff .500.
  12. They won’t even go .500 in meaningless Spring Training games.
  13. And then what happened? They got their asses beat so bad they looked like they didn’t even belong. And then your boy put the worst team in modern baseball on the field. If anyone needs to stop “bitching”, it is you.
  14. Wild Card didn't become a thing until after the strike. Sox and Cleveland weren't in the same division until the AL Cental arrived in 1995.
  15. TLR baby! But only because they were foolish enough to bring him back and his presence haunts the org to this day.
  16. We can talk about wasting Trout's prime, and never winning with two all time greats, but Moreno has spent serious money trying to win. Meanwhile Jerry had a team in first place, coming off an AL West title and an ALCS berth, with the regining AL MVP in the prime of his HOF career, the reigning Cy Young winner, with a legit shot at reaching the World Series, and he shut it all down over money. Winning doesn't matter if it costs too much.
  17. Of all of the stupid ways Jerry has shot his team in the foot, 1994 takes the cake.
  18. These are the White Sox afterall. Inexperienced at the MLB level and therefore cheap? Welcome aboard!
  19. Big Dumper (a nickname derived from the man’s large ass) + A butt plug with his number on it. Kinda hard to read as anything but plugging the big dumper or something to that effect. Dude lives in infamy now though!
  20. I can see 4 guaranteed with a few options. His body type typically doesn’t age well, and even if he were the outlier, it’s still a tough gamble. He’s a good but not great player, and I don’t see teams paying for front end production that doesn’t outweigh paying for the backend decline.
  21. Seattle easily beats that offer to keep him. I'll be shocked if he signs for less than a 20M AAV.
  22. The only hurt feelings are the ones complaining about fans giving the 2nd worst team in baseball F grades.
  23. Motherfucker, you accused me of lying about living in Bridgeport and of fabricating proof. As well as insinuating that I was living in my mother's basement. Yes, you pick fights. Yes, you start s%*#. You troll and then get angry and defensive when called on it, usually resorting to personal attacks, as referenced in my first sentence. You don't speak for Sox fandom, and you don't get to be the arbiter of how to be a fan, FFS.
