  1. I don't have a lot of faith in Kopech to fix his issues, but he certainly wasn't doing it as a starter. He's had chance after chance and still has regressed. At this point, if he's going to salvage his career, he has to figure out how to be effective on the mound. Maybe this is the kick in the ass he needs?
  2. Service time, and not needing to depend on him in the rotation. Probably a less toxic atmosphere to get practice reps in AAA than on a team losing every night.
  3. They should have learned their lesson trying to stretch Kopech out in the bigs, but I have my doubts they will do the smart thing with Crochet.
  4. I do. Have you watched him pitch this spring?
  5. I honestly couldn't tell if this was about Getz or Katz. And if Gatz is some amalgam of both, they both can go. Not that either of them are at any risk of losing their jobs any time soon.

Sounds like two of the prospects they just got are going to be fast tracked, which is just dumb. Or Crochet will be starting in the bigs on the Kopech plan that worked SO great for him.

Not sure if it deserves its own thread:
  8. Did the White Sox get relegated last night and nobody told us? /green
  9. Shaw can be cut today and wouldn’t be missed. Same for Chavez.
  10. Oh no, nor do I. The lazy in-house hire who was a part of the last failed regime deserves zero benefit of the doubt. Getz failing upwards into a job he's woefully unqualified for should absolutely provoke the heaviest of skepticism.
  11. The GM acquired top end prospect talent then sat on his hands and hoped for the best. Never built even a second wave of talent or even average major league depth. Didn’t sign top FA talent, didn’t properly supplement. Nothing sustainable. The system was a barren wasteland after the top graduated. We are sifting through the aftermath today.
  12. Hubris was birthed in Baltimore didn’t you know?
  13. Which is probably the wrong approach. We still wouldn’t have a foundation to supplement an improved roster and we’d end up right back where we are now. The dopes in charge still haven’t learned that quick fixes don’t work and banking on everything going right never does.
  14. It doesn’t feel like a franchise altering move in either direction. Probably could and should have had a better return, but it’s not Tatis level bad by any means. Underwhelming but not terrible. I’m more disappointed by the lack of high end talent than anything, even though I do like the Zavala pickup.
  15. It might sound like me moving the goalposts, but looking at the return I’m convinced Getz was told to take the best pitching package he could get. Two near top 100 pitchers might be the best pitching offer made. I’m holding to that caveat because I still think Cease should have brought back at least one top 50 positional prospect.
  16. Considering the return for an ace quality starter with 2 years left, don’t even entertain trading Robert for the next 2 years.
  17. Properly develops and augments the roster with quality FA talent and doesn’t pound a dinosaur sized wedge into this roster right as they looked poised to be good.
  18. Eh. I think the return falls between what they were saying and what most of us were expecting. Neither can really dunk on the other over the outcome.
  19. Getz had to have marching orders to get pitching. If multiple teams were hot after Cease, this is massively underwhelming.
