Just received my advanced copy of Dan's book and I look forward to reading it. Was impressed in the acknowledgment page that Scott Reifert of the White Sox and Mark "Gonzo" Gonzales who covered the Sox for the Chicago Tribune that season participated and actively helped in the making of the book.

2029 is the first year JR has the option to sell to Ishbia. Basically he has said that unless something happens he intends to ruin this franchise for another four years.

I hope your right and that they'll be competitive in 2027. I think the odds of that are slim and none myself but we will see. I'm sure you'll continue to defend the status quo though with the organization. I'm guessing that will never change. 😆

The players want nothing, Manfred and the owners of the Orioles and Yankees (LOL) have already gone public with the desire for a salary cap. The expectation is as Ken Rosenthal and others have reported that very soon after the 2026 season ends the owners will lock out the players and demand a cap be put in place. The MLBPA has already gone on record as saying that will never happen. They will never agree to a cap. You can draw your own conclusions.

I hate to break this to you but you can pretty much plan on it being a lost season.

😆😆😆😆😆 With the upcoming labor impasse you'll be lucky if JR doesn't order another team payroll reduction this off season. Getz will be allowed to sign a few more retreads, stiffs, injury prone, over the hill guys to fill out the roster. You'll get nothing and like it! 😉

Salary issues unless the Sox offer to pay some of it. Way to early to say anything about C. Montgomery. The reunion weekend was very well done and the way they honored Jenks was note worthy and sincere. Don't even watch the All-Popularity Game anymore, it has become a joke and a farce.

Well thanks for not answering my reasonable question but tell you what, I will go on the record and here is what I think is going to happen with this 'rebuild" over the next few years: 2025 season (year two of the rebuild): The Sox lose 100+ games for the third consecutive season. The marks the first time in the 125 year history of the franchise that will have happened. 2025 off season: Because of the almost guaranteed upcoming labor impasse JR is going to order his organization to be "fiscally responsible" again and could even order another team payroll reduction. Getz can only sign some bottom of the barrel retreads to fill out the roster and hope that the multitude of his TJS pitchers can return and put up decent numbers. 2026 season (year three of the rebuild): The White Sox lose 100+ games for the fourth straight season. 2026 off season: The owners lock out the players seriously impacting the 2027 campaign. 2027 season (year four of the rebuild): Eventually a new CBA is agreed to and the season resumes. But because of the financial austerity by the Sox over the previous several years and the lack of talent they have another losing year. Notice I didn't say they'd lose 100 or more games because we don't even know if they will play 100 games. 2027 off season and 2028: Who knows? It all depends on one thing and one thing only, is JR still around in charge? Hell I may not even be around in three years...I'm being serious, in which case I guess it won't matter at least to me anymore. But the box score from the latest rebuild, should what I think come to pass, is that after four years it will have accomplished very little to move this franchise back to being at least competitive and no longer a laughing stock. This rebuild could take six or eight years given that Ishbia is probably going to fire everyone and have to start from scratch when he takes over. I guess that would make a third rebuild? 😉 In fact you could make the case the second rebuild was an even bigger failure than the first one under Hahn because at least they won a division title. That's all I've got.

West: I guess we'll have to see how long this current rebuild lasts and if it turns out to be any better than the others. If JR is still around I have serious doubts it will accomplish much of anything. But again, we'll see. I would be curious though, this is year two of a full on rebuild. How long before you personally would expect things to turn around? Four years,,,six? Longer. I'm asking for a number. When does West expect this franchise to become competitive again and if they don't hit your target date what will your reaction be? Let's go on the record here.

Tray: With respect take a look at the Sox record for example since the start of the 2007 season. They are about to have their 13th losing season compared to five winning ones and a season of playing .500 baseball. That is one of the worst records in MLB over that 19 year period. In my opinion that's nothing to be proud of. To JR's credit at least from 1981-2006 Sox fan could reasonably assume the franchise would be competitive. What caused the drastic change? I'm guessing there were a number of factors.

Nothing changes until ownership does, then we'll see.

He had a press release the day the agreement with JR was announced. The White Sox also made clear JR is still in charge of the day to day operations and that Isbia's role for now would be to help pay down (supposed) debt and potentially get involved in the new stadium negotiations. Just earlier this past week a fan posted here at the site photos of him sitting behind home plate. Said fan posted his impressions of Ishbia and his family and also commented (I assume he spoke to him) that he's a fan, doesn't like to lose and that things would happen quickly. We'll see. Bottom line is that until JR is gone nothing substantially is going to change.

Anything you say except for the fact that a great number of players on the roster aren't exactly kids are they? This dysfunctional organization seems to be in "perpetual rebuild" as one of the columnists wrote today. 11 of the 26 man roster for today are 30 or over in age, that's 42%. If you go by the 40 man roster 18 of the 40 are 30 or older that's 45% Part of this could be because the minor league system isn't that great overall and they just need warm bodies, if that's the case that's another indictment isn't it? But we'll see what happens, I expect another "rebuilding" 100+ loss season next year as well and then a long lock out.

Small consolation I guess but the Rockies broke the White Sox record for the most losses in MLB history before the All-Star break. They've now lost 74 times, the Sox last year lost 71 times before the break.

Or a team with an owner who still gives a damn and demands competency.
