Hahn
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) Hard to tell. First of all, it's really unclear who is in charge in this organization. I'm not saying he has done a great job, but I'm concerned he might not have full control of personnel based on the various comments from Kenny on the way the organization works. In most organizations, the GM is hired as head of personnel with a few exceptions. To answer your question, most organizations would have fired Hahn, but most would probably not have his boss working that closely over his shoulder. Deadpool: I'm glad you brought this up. Heard from one of the mainstream media members yesterday and I was asking about this. Was told that Hahn still isn't "up" on things (direct quote) and that's why Kenny steps in as much as he has been. This brings up an interesting point. This is year three of Hahn supposedly being in charge. What could he possible be not "up" on after all that time? (Not counting the years he spent in the organization working under Kenny...) Just gets curiouser and curiouser doesn't it? Mark

7/31 Super Mega Combined Game Thread - HugWatch
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) Twins 4 errors and win ............only the Sox pull this s***! How about hitting seven home runs in a game and losing...just sayin' Only two more months of this s*** left to go! Out of all the disappointments this year (and there have been a lot) Rodon has been one of the biggest. This guy now looks like he has no idea what he wants to do out there. Mark

QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 01:24 AM) Konerko . . . Said he wants no part of being in baseball until his kids grow up just last week. Mark

White Sox trade Zach Duke to the STL Cardinals
Kid went to the same high school as Hahn. I'll be curious now to see how Duke performs with a better organization. Mark

July 30th Game Thread - White Sox at Twins

Sox are going to blow this, aren't they?
QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) Do you really think they will spend $50 million in salary next year to fill these positions with players who are actually good? Then what do they do in 2018 when Frazier, Lawrie and Melky's contracts are up? Spend another $50 million to replace. Now is the time to sell and rebuild the farm. This situation could not be any more ideal. Selling 2 of the top SP in the game and get back huge hauls for the future. Trading now will have you in a good position as early as 2018. Keep in mind that even if the Sox wanted to spend that kind of money the free agent class is poor. That means in all probability if they are "going for it" yet again they are going to have to make trades. That does two things, deplete an average at best farm system and potentially create MORE holes on the big league roster because they traded someone off it. The Sox have been reduced to "hope and a prayer" that they can catch lightening in a bottle. Mark

Who gets dealt at the deadline?
Well hopefully it's Kenny and Ventura. Mark

7/29 - White Sox at Twins
3 runs in 30 innings...don't stop now boys! Hey Kenny, still not sure if they should be buyers or sellers? LOL. Mark

Crosstown Cup Finale Game Thread, Game 4
Sox have played 102 games this year. Have scored three runs or less in 49 of them. (48%). Sox have now lost 13 games where they allowed an opponent three runs or less. Mark

Crosstown Cup Finale Game Thread, Game 4
Unfortunately I don't think Sale is going to win 20 this year. At the rate this team is going he'll be lucky to win 18. Sigh... If Kenny still doesn't know if the club will be buyers or sellers this weekend he obviously wasn't watching this game. Mark

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 12:31 PM) Which most likely means that any potential extension talks haven't gone anywhere. Can't say I blame either party if this is true. Mark

Anthony Ranaudo starting vs. Cubs on Wednesday
Yet somehow Jacob Turner remains on the big league team. LOL. Mark

Crosstown Cup Finale Game Thread, Game 4
Hope Chris can pitch well and get the win. I really would like to see him win 20 this year. A month ago that looked like a given...now? Mark

White Sox Listening on Sale
CBS Sportsline has a story this morning that the Yankees have called Hahn multiple times and are pushing to try to get Sale. Mark

Crosstown Cup Game Thread, Game 3
Can anybody answer why Jacob Turner is on the roster? The last few years the Sox have been dumping deadwood and that's very good...unfortunately then they keep replacing those guys with more deadwood. Seriously to those that closely follow the minor league system...is it still that rancid after Hahn trying to rebuild it the last few years? The BEST they can do are stiffs like Turner, Perke etc. Mark

The Possibility of the Curve Ball from the Sox...
QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan #WhiteSox VP Ken Williams: 'To say we’re going to be buyers or sellers or some combination, we just don’t know.' Good stuff Kenny. If what Williams (should have been asked how the "three year plan" is going LOL) said is true that DIRECTLY contradicts what Hahn said last week about "mired in mediocrity" and no short term rentals. And people wonder why fans don't know who is running the show or what the long range assessment will be. Mark

Lawrie to DL, Sanchez to the Crosstown Cup Winners
Yet another injury. Sigh...never ending. Yet Robin was quoted directly in the Sun-Times today as saying Lawrie could have played Monday if he was needed. OK then... Mark

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

White Sox players protested in Seattle
Understand that Eaton said the Indians and other have voiced concerns about what the Mariners have done. Glad to see the Sox sticking up for the folks who often are underlooked. Also that there are a bunch of signed checks ready to be sent to those people in Seattle. Thought the Sox handled this the right way and forced the situation so that it will now be talked about in the next CBA. Good job! Mark

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Shocked and happy they could win this game. At least they won't get swept. As far as the bullpen? Words fail me. Mark

David Robertson is a fantastic closer
Chapman is a lot better than Robertson and the Cubs since they have no money issues have a good chance to re-sign him. Mark
-
Rodon to get rehab start
Starting pitching is in "great" shape for the Cubs series isn't it? Mark

David Robertson is a fantastic closer
I'll give Robertson one thing, he admitted he was lousy and when Bruce Levine tried to give him an out (i.e. excuse) saying 'but you pitched three times in 15 hours' Roberston said it didn't matter. So Levine tried again by asking 'have you ever pitched three times in 15 hours' and Robertson immediately cut him off saying it didn't matter he's got a job to do. While I admire guys standing up and taking the blame when they suck, the bottom line is these guys have been sucking a lot, and it doesn't seem to matter who the Sox sign, trade for whatever...there's something about the organization in general that seems to 'promote' for lack of a better word failure. It gets old. All the more reason a purging is desperately needed starting with the baseball side of the front office. Mark
