  1. Hopefully the cold weather moves out before the weekend. Pitching in low 40's is not good for players who are still getting into game shape especially SP.
  2. Close but not quite. There is a bean counter in the back room who also knows that if you sell 100 bears for $1,100 profit or 200 for $1,200 you increased profit by $100. But you probably have to increase staffing to accommodate for double the sales. So the $100 is somewhat less when you include the extra payroll + expenses.
  3. It is only a matter of time until the owners will be installing pay toilets at the stadiums.
  4. Wait. If he is sent back to the minors to learn 2B so he can come back later in the year , he should be fine w that.
  5. No. Based on IL listing they are about 8th or 9th . Texas, Tampa, Cubs,Tigers , to name a few. Sox may have more starters out though
  6. In fairness ,he really has played 95% of his college/minor league career at 3B. Learning a new position for a young player at the major league level can affect their whole game. Seeing Yoan in front of him and available playing time at 2B, it is too bad the FO didn't give him more opportunities to learn 2B last season. If moving Yoan is not an option for some reason, Burger could go back to Charlotte for a month or two to work at 2B once Yoan returns. Then return him after All Star break. Still as someone posted, a good problem that needs to be resolved.
  7. SCCWS replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Some pitching staff w Horlen, Peters and Tommy John as starters with Wilbur Wood and Hoyt Wilhelm in the pen.
  8. The NCAA College basketball Season and the NFL have both completed their seasons after the worst of the covid outbreak. I have not seen/heard of any media reports of increases in injuries.
  9. "Don’t think this team is nearly as good as they believe and other teams in this weak ass division aren’t nearly as bad. " Again, you came to this conclusion after one game and without KC and Cleveland even playing one game. Your spring training analysis must have been very thorough. Come back and tell us after 2 months how good you think the rest of this division is.
  10. 1. Chicago 2. Minnesota Detroit-Cleveland-KC will fight it out for 5th
  11. and give him a permanent take sign.
  12. I have posted several times that I think MLB will see more injuries due to a shortened spring training. The teams most affected by injuries will under-perform. Hopefully the White Sox survive their injuries.
  13. My concern with Collins or now Reese, if Grandal goes down, it could be a big dropoff. I would rather have seen them get a veteran backup but maybe the market was the problem.
  14. Actually "Essentially we traded someone who probably was going to be DFA'ed at some point" for someone who was actually DFA'ed last April.
  15. That makes sense.
  16. I like this move because we finally moved Kimbrel. But I wonder who would be considered next in the depth chart after Hendricks? I would guess Bummer even though he has never actually saved a game.
  17. There is also the very real but hopefully not very real possibility that Kimbrall gets hurt. There is a real possibility that Kimbrall has a bad run.
  18. I would assume the Marketing Dept ran some fan surveys because you certainly bring up some very valid points against it.
  19. Especially a guy fighting for playing time
  20. FWIW--Meadows is considered a below average RF. His best outfield position is LF where he is average. Robert will want a raise.........
  21. Bob: This story came out 4 day ago so 1 day after Story announcement. But I would think the story was probably written 1-2 days before it posted so the guy sent it out anyway. Writer did not mention Story just signed. The writer says the loss of Renfroe is a major hit to Boston's offense but Story changes that. But maybe Boston wants both but I think they don't.
  22. FWIW--Don't know much about the author , but this guy thinks Boston could be a landing spot. Posted after Story signing but maybe written before and might mean nothing. https://bosoxinjection.com/2022/03/20/red-sox-michael-conforto-solidify-outfield/
  23. "I've been a Sox fan since 1970 -- 52 years. I've known only 1 World Series victory in that time. " Please stop whining about the last 52 years. It is time to move on.
