  1. Looks like we will get this gain in. Saturday may be wetter
  2. True but that was before any of us was born. Many of us got to see( more often heard) JB dominate Boston
  3. Hating a team and hating their game experience are two different things. I have hated the Red Sox for 60 years. But I have been to about 20 different stadiums over the years. Obviously some have closed and been replaced. The outside and inside atmosphere of Boston is one of the best. I don't like cookie cutter, artificial grass or domes. I love large enthusiastic crowds like Red Sox /Yankee games. Many great seats and very close to the action . Great street scene outside w excellent local food. Very safe area if you are walking or travelling to public transit. As I previously posted, it is expensive to take a family. FWIW= Huge media following all year long. I have also been several times to the exact opposite, Tampa Bay. Terrible stadium in all aspects. Terrible crowds, Very inexpensive but no atmosphere inside or out. But I will say that for many years the Sox have struggled against Boston which is always seems to have a competitive team. Relished the years when Johnny Buzhardt was a Red Sox killer.
  4. If you have never been, great place for atmosphere before and after. Really pricey all-around but hopefully you scored free tics if you live in New England
  5. I think we get 2. Eovaldi is tough but Red Sox bullpen is poor. Warning could be rain issues tonight although it may hold off till later in evening.
  6. As I posted yesterday, it is worth a shot for 30 days to see what he can do since hopefully the warmer weather will be coming. My only concern is that he doesn't take away DH at bats from Vaughn. Limited financials involved and a good clubhouse guy. Absolutely worth a shot
  7. Cease could be the ace of the staff by August.
  8. I would give Robinson Cano a shot at DH. His contract salary is already paid for this year so he would cost minimal . LH and good clubhouse guy. Maybe he comes alive when warmer weather arrives but he is a cheap gamble if he does not take away DH bats for Vaughn.
  9. Yes with 78 degree afternoons all week. Oh wait , what is the forecast?
  10. Damn Gio. He used the lively balls in that 1st inning.
  11. It is too cold for TLR to function. Pray for snow squalls. This is really more like the Charlotte lineup with a ML starter. Cease deserves a bonus if he wins w this contingent.
  12. Agree. I think it comes down to what impact does the manager (including coaches) have on a team's success, what impact does the FO have (i.e roster) and what impact do the players have. I would say the players are at least 75% of the success/failure unless a FO has assembled a non-competitive team.
  13. Sox Management signed Leury to a 3 year contract less than 6 months ago. I think that could be a sign their management does think Leury has a place on this team.
  14. Did you say the same thing last year at this point?
  15. Right now all of baseball is average. Only Cincinnati sucks. In one week , just about any team can go from 1st to last with a winning or losing streak. It will probably take 30 games before we start to see some trends.
  16. Hubie Brown is doing NBA color in the playoffs. He is 88. Jerry Reinsdorf is 86 and he hired him. Tony may have a longer shelf life than us fans want. They all must be taking viagra for the brain.
  17. If it was the NBA, he would have only got a fine.
  18. I think at 76 years old, Tony probably isn't one of the best. Just my opinion, there were much better choices. But some of the best managers will not even make the playoffs . How often do last place managers win Manager of the Year? The talent is more important than the manager but the most talented teams also need a good manager to win a World Series. Yankees are a great example. The Sox talent should be enough to get them into the playoffs. After that, talent, a good manager and some luck wins a championship. We will see how Tony does this year since hopefully it is his last.
  19. I would think Lopez is a also an option or may even be rated higher than Cueto. We will see him vs MLB as opposed to MILB
  20. Many teams will most likely see a jump in injuries with limited spring training.
  21. TLR??? I thought that was Charlotte playing in game 2.
  22. Hopefully the cold weather moves out before the weekend. Pitching in low 40's is not good for players who are still getting into game shape especially SP.
  23. Close but not quite. There is a bean counter in the back room who also knows that if you sell 100 bears for $1,100 profit or 200 for $1,200 you increased profit by $100. But you probably have to increase staffing to accommodate for double the sales. So the $100 is somewhat less when you include the extra payroll + expenses.
